I've found a disgustingly cute avatar I wish to upload...the file size is 80x80...but I thought the maximum size was 115x115?

Its animated...would that be an issue?

Look in the control panel where you select your avatar, at the top...

"Your avatar must be no bigger than 115 pixels by 115 pixels in size. Uploaded avatars from your computer must be no larger than 100KB .
The following file types are allowed: gif, jpeg, jpg, png"

Also, at the bottom, you can have your avatar resized automatically if it's too big. I don't know for sure how that would affect an animated gif.

Yeah, sometimes resizing animated avatars can make them look really bad, if it's done improperly. The size in kb is probably the issue though, animated gifs tend to be larger than that unless they are very low quality, or very simple.
