I am glad you and your friends have decided on a field trip. Let me suggest an interesting trekking trip instead of cemeteries to avoid any unnesessary vandalising incidents. They put RIP on graves for a reason.

Georgia haunted sites are easy to find if they have not covered them with buildings to keep people out of the area.
Find the old county sites of the hanging trees. If you are lucky you may even find an original live oak that was used.

This list of lynchings might help you to locate them and other sites.

You shouldn't mess with things you don't understand...

Spending the night in a cemetery? Yes, this is a smart idea. rolleyes.gif

Hopefully the boogey man doesn't get you. wink2.gif

I'm actually from the Fayette County area of GA. Don't know too many cemetaries in the Columbus area to check out, but you've always got Oakland cemetary on the northside of Atlanta. If you come to Fayetteville, we've got Padgett Rd and there's a pretty cool spot in Woolsey, which is just a little bumble ass town a few miles south of here.

just need to be careful on padgett if you head out that way. There's one local that's not exactly friendly, but you can avoid his place by following the train tracks. Some cool stuff back there, old hanging ground, former hippy commune....interesting if nothing else

if you're looking for some good haunted areas in GA, check out the shadowlands website. They've got a fairly extensive list of supposed hauntings all over GA, and I think Columbus has quite a few. Good area for you will be Jonesboro in Clayton Co, Kennesaw, or around the Andersonville prison a little further south. Jonesboro has a ton of civil war battle sites as does Kennesaw, and I'm sure you know the history of Andersonville prison.
