What do you think are we getting near the end of the world or not!!

I think we are nearing the end as we know it now. I think we are going to be entering a new way of life soon. Not too sure what is ahead though. Maybe I'm just hoping??

so true. I'm not saying that the world is bad and that I don't appreciate what we have. I sometimes wonder if what we have is too much. I think that the effects of "progress" should be studied alot more before people jump in and start wanting to "improve" something.

i dont like to think about it myself. If all we did all day every day was wonder and worry about the end of the world...we wouldnt have much of a life. I mean, why bother thinking about the pole shifts or (for the spiritual) the Apocolypse. It's something that is inevitably going to happen and there is really nothing you can do to stop it...sorry if this is a 'damper'. As for the whole 2012 new world thing, i beleive it wont necessarily be "The End", maybe this will be our first ET contact or some other ginormous intellectual leap.

No. Earth will finally be destroyed in the last stages of the life of the Sun 5 billion years from now (more or less). However, we shall have to gradually move the orbit of the Earth slightly away from the sun, because the sun will gradually get hotter. That should be easy once we master levitation well enough to become star-travelers.

If you are referring to Mayan or Biblical prophecies, that is just superstitious nonsense, no different from classical Greek mythology. There were many different versions of "The Apocalypse" written in Early Christian times, and they all refer to the destruction of the Roman tyranny, not to modern times.

You might mean "end of the universe." Scientists have lots of different theories about that. If the universe is 5-D, there would not be a Big Bang (singularity) but rather a Big Bounce from an earlier time of contraction. Also a lot depends on what "dark energy" turns out to be. If it is neutrino pressure, then I believe the negative energy will gradually disappear as the heavier generations of neutrinos decay into photons. Thus, in the distant future, there will be another long period of contraction ending in another Big Bounce, and so forth forever.

Actualy the world will end in about 3million years.... if what i read is correct there is a large black hole heading towards our solar system from Scorpius, and we will start to feel its effects in around 1.5million years

What do you think will happen "at the end"? The events depicted in the Terminator movies. I don't think so. A lot of people are playing to the notion that the end will come as one clump. But that's where they're wrong. All civilizations die over a long period of time and all from within before without. The Mayans, the Greeks, the Romans, the Sumerians, and yes, eventually, the Americans. All civilizations die. But how they are remembered is up to the people. The trails and tribulations of its people during its prime.
