well like i said guys and gril s i iam a meduim want i see that It's the end of the world

AN asteroid with the greatest-ever chance of hitting Earth has been discovered by astronomers.

The space rock — labelled 2004 VD17 — threatens to slam into our planet with a force equivalent to ALL the world’s nukes.

It is 500 yards long and weighs nearly a billion tons.

If the asteroid hit London, it would blast a crater nearly six miles wide and a third of a mile deep.

The fireball would ignite trees and grass for 60 miles around, while the blast would destroy buildings as far away as Birmingham.

Long-term effects would be like a nuclear winter, devastating all life.

yes i see big time trust me it will happen and very one will go trust me i see this in a big way no we are going into the year 2013 and so on i can see a lot of thinks and a lot of changes are going to happen i have seen haed of ur time guys so i can tell all of urs want going to happen .we are going rigth thro the futer and thinks are going to happen near the time VD17 2102 end of the world my guild tell me this so trust me

The rock, 2004 VD17, is about 500m long and has a mass of nearly a billion tonnes.
If it hit Earth it would deliver 10,000 megatonnes of energy, equivalent to all the world's nuclear weapons. Spotted on November 27 2004, VD17 was identified as potentially crossing Earth's orbit, with a one in 3000 risk of collision on May 4, 2102.

im sorry but in 2102 ill by 115 years old

1 . I hope you are better at forecasting than communicating.

2 . Is the future going to be full of illiterate people or is this a new language that is born from English (little like the American language. ColoUr)

3. Given around 80 years to plan (I assume that if we do anything after 2086 we will be at risk of debris storms) for this, then I would hope a solution can be found to prevent it.

2102!?!

I'd better hurry up and finish that space ark.....

Oh, and did steer trade in all his punctuation marks for extra "u"'s?

Two links for those of you interested.

The history of Earth's encounters with asteroids remains largely mysterious to scientists. They can't even agree whether a huge space rock that hit Mexico's Yucatan Penninsula 65 million years ago killed off the dinosaurs or not.

Nor can astronomers say when the next catastrophic impact will occur. They only know that it will happen, sooner or later.

However, now anyone with a passing interest in the fate of the planet can remove some of the mystery regarding the effects of the next collision. A new University of Arizona web page allows visitors to plug in a hypothetical space rock's size, the visitor's distance from the impact site, and other parameters to generate an outline of devastation.

But be warned: Removing the mystery invites a bit of terror over the hypothetical slams, bangs, fireballs, falling skies and rushing winds generated by a giant impact.

Welcome to the Earth Impact Effects Program: an easy-to-use, interactive web site for estimating the regional environmental consequences of an impact on Earth. This program will estimate the ejecta distribution, ground shaking, atmospheric blast wave, and thermal effects of an impact as well as the size of the crater produced.

Please enter values in the boxes below to describe your impact event of choice and your distance away. Then click "Calculate Effects" to learn about the environmental consequences.

That was mean.

But damn was it funny. rofl.gif

This asteroid has a 1/3000 chance of hitting earth...less if all the gravitational disturbances are counted. It will likely miss. Don't worry, nothing will happen.
