LONDON (Reuters) - He wears a baby-blue spandex jumpsuit and shiny gold panties, gloves, cape, boots and goggles. He wields a giant, metal-cutting circular power saw. Who is Angle Grinder Man?

He is Britain's self-styled "first wheel-clamp and speed camera vigilante cum subversive superhero philanthropist entertainer type person". That's who.

For those not familiar with industrial machine tools, an angle grinder is the saw best suited to cutting through plates of steel, such as, say, the wheel clamps that authorities use to immobilise illegally parked cars in London.

And Angle Grinder Man offers his "free clamp-removal service" to "all good, decent law-unabiding people" who would rather fight back than pay to have their cars released.

All a clamped motorist has to do is call AGM's hotline and out comes the roadside rescue superhero to saw through the brace and release the car.

I saw this guy on breakfast telly this morning, but missed who he was. Thanks for the info.

Sounds like he's a true hero, but I fear for his safety.

How long before a clamping company hires a few toughs to phone him up for help, lie in wait, and beat him to a jelly?

Mind you, he does have his handy angle grinder... grin2.gif

What a hero. I must admit the thought crossed my mind - except the 'uniform' - when clamping started, not that I actually drive myself.

If I win the lottery I'll become The Equalizer UKtm.

What colour trolleys will you wear?

Or will you just dress up as Edward Woodward?

That's a point...how would I travel to reach the clamp victims? Clampman in a taxi? If I cycled they'd think it was Bicycle Repair Man.

I don't think I'd be dressing up. I'll stay as I am - Viv Stanshall after a rough night!
