The Fox TV network has signed up Homer and family for another two years.

The Simpsons, already the longest running animated series ever, is also the longest running prime-time series on the air. It will now survive through an 18th and 19th season, hitting its 400th episode in May 2007.

King of the Hill will also be firing up the barbecue for one more season on Fox. The show about the beer-swilling propane salesman Hank Hill and his family, has survived 11 seasons.

King of the Hill, co-created by Greg Daniels and Mike Judge, is said to have maintained its ratings.

The Simpsons has won multiple Emmys for writing and best animated series, and become part of the cultural landscape.

Creator Matt Groening has said he will keep it going as long as it can keep surprising viewers.

It certainly seems to have succeeded — scandalizing the Christian right by including a lesbian character and sending up American political and family life in countless brilliant ways.

The show's principal voice cast, which includes Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith and Hank Azaria, are all said to be locked in for the duration of the new pact. They had threatened to strike two years ago if they didn't get better terms.

Rykster
Yay!
Rykster loves The Simpsons!
ABOTU
Love the Simpsons. They are equal in their bashing. Every religion, every political party, every person, everything. What's not to like?
Emcee
Oh Simpsons. My one true love.
Nothing will ever beat the old seasons, though. That is classic comedy.

I'm kind of indifferent towards the newer seasons.

Why doesn't anyone like Futurama? No-one like Futurama, 'cos they're living of their bigger brothers' shadow. I think Futurama is ALOT funnier than The Simpsons, not taking anything away frrom The Simpsons, but I think Futurama is Matt Groening's funniest creation. But no-one ever seems to notice it......Why?

I love the Simpsons, I grew up watching the show. thumbsup.gif
Boff
The Simpsons was awsome...

Now its horrible. They should really just stop.
BurnSide
Ugh. Worst idea ever. Every epsiode just gets more and more stupid, it's long stopped being funny stupid, now it's just a complete embarassment.
Go away, you've had your glory.

If that's true, then this show should have ended about 4 or 5 years ago. It seriously needs to end now. This is just ridiculous.

I agree with Moose. Futurama was 10 times funnier than the Simpsons, not that the Simpsons was bad, but Futurama also had a lot of life left in it. If anything, THAT show should be brought back.
BurnSide
original.gif 26 new episodes are hopefully on the way!
Shakezulah
Seriously? Kick ass! I didn't know about that. Let's hope they get aired.

Oh, and how is King of the Hill in it's 11th season? That show is only like 7 seven years old.
BurnSide
You kiddin? I was watching King of the Hill when i was 12 back in England. That means it's at least 10.

Here's the info on Futurama, this is what Billy West posted on his official site a few days ago. Sounds extremely promising:

Welcome Parker 151,

Thanks for your post! I hope you realize that this is your last--- naw, just
kidding! I'm glad that you got to see that stuff and you laughed.
I've talked extensively about this subject. Here's a little of the story.

All the stuff you see or hear from when I was on-- ended 11 plus years
ago. Some of the audio replays are from 16 years ago.I got out when I was
at the peak of my radio career. You rarely get a second chance to go out
on top like that.I was all done with it in 1995.I started in Boston in
1981.That's 25 years ago.I'm a radically different guy than I was then.But
it's so pissa' to see this ''internet arguement'' continue until people's
fingers fall off.I'm just tending my garden and when a few A-holes attack
me over this stuff,I just give 'em the old ''digitus impunicus.''

I'm thisclose to selling my show--''Billy Bastard--Amateur Human Being,''
And the other good news is that they're doing 26 new episodes of
''Futurama'' for TV and we're hammering out the deal now.The original
plan was to have the DVD's first but that's no longer the case.I'm totaly
jammed dude.

Greetings from the year 3000! It still sucks!

Billy

King of the Hill is amazingly awsome. I love it. It has replaced the Simpsons for me for sometime now since they became stale.

Great to hear about futurama though, i watch it alot on Teletoon (Canadas cartoon channel).
Shakezulah
Hmmm...I guess you're right about King of the Hill. It started back in like 96 I think. For some reason, it just didn't seem that long. It's still kind of hard to believe. It's an awesome show, though.
Raptor
The Simpsons was great but it's getting less funnier, they should finish it off once and for all.
