A missing Nepalese teenager popularly known as "Buddha Boy" reappeared briefly on Sunday, his followers say. The committee managing the meditation site of Ram Bomjan, 16, released video of its members purportedly meeting the boy near his village in southern Nepal. The boy's meditation and apparent 10-month fast attracted global attention before he vanished in March. Large numbers of devotees flocked to see him to leave offerings. A massive search operation is still under way. The chairman of the Om Namo Buddha Tapaswi Sewa Samiti (ONBTSS), Bed Bahadur Lama, told reporters that he and his colleagues had met Bomjan about 3km (2 miles) south-west of his meditation site in Bara district on Sunday. He said Bomjan had spoken to them for half an hour. "He said he would reappear after six years. He has asked monks to perform prayers in the meditation spot," Mr Lama told reporters. "I left because there is no peace here... Tell my parents not to worry," Mr Lama quoted Bomjan as saying.
The alleged meeting is the first news of the boy's possible whereabouts since he disappeared on 11 March. District authorities say they cannot confirm the sighting. Bomjan's followers and security personnel have launched a massive search operation in Ratnapuri forest and surrounding areas but have so far failed to locate him. Bomjan's followers claim he was an incarnation of Lord Buddha who was born in Lumbini, in present-day Nepal, more than 2,500 years ago. His followers say he has been meditating for 10 months without food or water and is immune to fire and snake bites.

This is a very strange story. Why can't the authorities confirm the sighting?
Why can't an independent verification of the sighting be made?
How can a search of the immediate area have been so fruitless?
Why is it that only his followers and security personnel have seen him?
I personally think this is some kind of bizarre hoax. According to the article this
boy has been fasting without food and water for the past 10 months. Not only is
this impossible, but from what I saw in the video highly unlikely. The boy in the video
hasn't fasted for one day let alone 10 months. He is very fit and healthy to the point
of being pampered. I think it is some kind of joke that only a few people understand.

In the last 10 months visitors visited him every day, but at night, his guards covered that spot so no one would see him. Maybe he was eating than? It sounds good that maybe a poor kid died, and they hidden the body, trying to create some kind of new "mirracle". He vanishes for 6 years and that reapears older ofcourse and starts preaching. That of course would be completly different person........
Can't wait to see the story continue..........

The question is if this is a hoax. Why him and not some rich-punk kid in Nepal crying out for attention? What makes him so special? And exactly who would give him the idea?
It's possible it is a hoax. However, it's also possible that some of the claims are true, if not all, and may have only been overexaggerated by visitors.

You would wonder why at that age, even as a boy, that he would care about peace or other people besides his family. His character could, however, been part of his upbringing as a child.
Although this could also be a form of reincarnation, if you consider the interesting stories of the Dalai Lama in Tibet.

Or Not...

Because his followers are the only ones that believe in him. So he's got to appease them, or they'll not follow him anymore.

It is a crazy story. Lots of questions. I have heard of other people being able to survive without eating. I saw a woman on TV who said she was so spiritually advanced she didn't eat. Seeing her it was easy to dismiss her as a nutter, but you never know.
If this is a hoax, what could the motive be? What would the people that would have to help the deception get out of it? Does he get substantial donations doing this? Anyone know?
Actually I have just found a story from Nov last year saying $7000 had been donated so far. Not that much.
Maybe he disappeared to avoid being scientifically tested, which was a request by a growing number. Who knows?

Having studied Buddhist scriptures before I can assure that the boy in the video is no ordinary human being, he has an air of a young prince in his previous reincarnation, and he uses divine sight, or third eye to see, that's why his hair covers his face and eyes.
He look strong and slim built, and his hair is thick and with a healthy shine, his skin looks fair and soft and delicate, I would not say that he is really a Buddha or what but I can assure he is no mere mortal.
I can really feel an air of divine energy, mystic and buddhist, saintly and special, about him..

Being a Buddhist myself I find this very interesting. But let's wait and see what this kid has to say when he comes back. So far I only see a young kid struggling with himself.
I wonder if anybody would recognize Jesus if/when he reincarnates or will he be put in an assylum with insane folks (who only think they are Jesus).

I too cannot be sure of Ram's situation, for I have never met him and had to rely on the media for the story, but my thoughts will be with him for the extent of his absence. I won't forget about him and I look forward to his reappearance. His mother seems confident in him, so I feel he will be OK. Also from looking at the pictures and grainy video of him, there is something truly there. What exactly I do not know, as you said let's wait and see what he has to say when he comes back.
Jesus? Assylum or worse I'd imagine.

And what exactly did
he say he is?
I have read what the
media says he is, but not much of what the media is what
they says it is, they're sensationalists, they make entertainment not news.
Did he leave his initial meditation spot for somewhere quieter?
Did he leave that spot due to crowds, noise and there being "no peace" there?
Would hiding in the jungle for 6 years be a good way to get attention?
I think it is fare to say that, not everyone is in America, not everyone with a "story "does it for media attention. He was meditating quietly a long time before the media got there and then he left soon after.
I think he is exactly what
he says he is. What did he say he was again?

It's important to remember that all of the claims made about him have not been made by the boy himself, but rather by his caretakers or the media. Really all the boy has done has sat down under a tree for 10 months and meditated.
The boy can't be a reincarnation of the Buddha, because once one becomes a Buddha you end the cylce of death and rebirth. I think that's just the media getting carried away and not understanding the Buddhist faith. He may become a Buddha, but he isn't one yet. At one point he did tell his brother "Tell the people not to call me a Buddha. I don't have the Buddha's energy. I am at the level of rinpoche."
As far as the claim of the caretakers that he has not ate or drank anything for ten months, I can't believe that. Without any water for so long you'd shrivel up like a prune. They must be feeding him at night when no tourists are around. If the claim is in fact true, it'll be a HUGE discovery and the entire medical/scientific community will have to re-examine itself. If he isn't drinking anything, and he still looks healthy after ten months, some process that science has no understanding of is going on.
Anyway, meditating for ten consecutive months every day and all day is an amazing feat. Try meditating yourself for more than a couple hours at a time....

I'm a catholic, and I have to say that if a guy appeared on tv saying he was the reincarnation of Jesus I wouldn't believe it at ALL. The only men I believe are real reincarnations of Holy people are the Dalai Lamas.

Hi,
Well anyone that has just seen the footage on Discovery Channel will have to be completely perplexed by the apparent video evidence of the boy filmed for 4 days solid with no water, food and barely moving. Science has been re written many a time in history so I am open to believe my own eyes and that the reporters were sincere.
They found no eveidence of any wrong doing or suggestion of faking. If there was would they really let them put a camera five foot in front of him and also let them examine the surrounding area for food pipes or otherwise?
The experts say that he would have "bed sores" and his skin and lips would have sores on if he could sit there that long. But it just about breaks every known theory.
Normally they love to report any suspicious activity on a documentary such as this and uncover anything that might explain how it can happen. But this documentary left more questions than answers.
I know that if I was going to meditate under a tree for seven years and I had that much going on around me, I'd walk off and find somewhere more peaceful!!
Good luck to him whatever he is.
With the amount of BS in the world today the messiah could walk right up tp us and we would tell him to f off. So we'll never know.
