Hogwarts isn't that hard, it’s in Scotland. We know because to get there Ron and Harry fly over Peebles... which is in Scotland. Why would someone who took off from King's Cross Station in England in a flying car then fly over the border into Scotland to fly over Peebles, if not for the fact Hogwarts was in Scotland. We're told Dufftown is nearby, and that’s near Loch Ness. We're told it’s in the Highlands... which are in Scotland.
Hell the black Lake is probably Loch Ness.
Its not that surprising since it was written in Edinburgh... the only real question is, why in the movies, is a Scottish School populated by so few Scots?
