user posted image rFor the past month, large crowds have been flocking to Kampung Bukit Kechil in Sungai Nibong, Pe-nang, because of a ‘sighting’ of a spectre. Village Development and Se-curity Committee (JKKK) chairman for Sungai Nibong Besar, Julastri Ibrahim, however, said the object was actually a parasitic plant growing on a branch of a durian tree. In the moonlight, he ex-plained, the plant's leaves reflected a lighter patch against the dark leaves of its host tree, causing people to speculate that the illuminated shape resembled some supernatural being. According to Julastri, it all started on the night of Feb 27, after the announcement of the increase in petrol prices. Crowds flocked to the Caltex and Shell stations next to each other on Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, causing a traffic crawl. “Some drivers and passengers got out of the car to stretch. It was then they saw the tree in the nearby village, and the ridiculous rumour spread.”

He said hundreds of people had been coming throughout the night to see the sight. He said many visitors brought cameras and a few even brought equipment to detect ‘paranormal activity'. “The irony is that the tree is next to a cemetery. We have some people trying to conduct strange rituals beneath the tree.”

They probably realize it is a plant but they might be either into it being a tree or forest spirt inside it, or someone from the cemetery inside the plant.
Sort of Mary changing cheese toast kinda thing.
Bet locals might have a spirit legend that would go nice with this.

Yes, to the locals big trees are usually hunted, I mean, ghosts like to 'park' on big trees mellow.gif Mind my English grin2.gif

Not picking on your English, just getting a laugh out of "hunted" trees! That must be a pretty easy target eh? original.gif

Anyway. I am gonna go paint a ghost on a tree and while all the yahoos are out taking pictures and oohing and ahhing, I will go rob their houses! w00t.gif

hey spirit, you like durian too?

If they didn't previously have a spirit legend associated with this tree, they certainly
have cause for one now. Since the tree in question is located next to a cemetary,
it will only be a matter of time before they invent one and make a ton of money
from tourists. This shouldn't be much of a problem since there are plenty of people
who are more than willing to believe this sort of thing. devil.gif

lol! Our feet should then be haunted by now..

durian stinks (i interpret the smell as to "rotting flesh", though some say it smells good), but the taste is certainly heaven. though i think it really depends upon the culture u came from.

I must be missing something.
I don't get it...I don't see a thing at all.
I see some branches with leaves lit up...nothing more.

I don't even see why it was written about.
Who sent a reporter out to do a story on it...they're not right and are bad reporters as well...
I mean the story even stunk
