Is this the Most Mysterious Document in the World?

Most scholars assume that it is dated from anywhere between the 13th and 16th centuries. Scientists to the court of the Holy Roman Emperor Rudolph II ( 1552-1612 ), a collector and patron of esoterica, could understand neither the text nor the illustrations in a book that he had reputedly purchased for 600 ducats. There is no title page and no author(s) given. The elegant script is in a so far unrecognised language and it accompanies illustrations of strange plants mostly unknown to botanists, astrological charts, esoteric drawings and diagrams, plus odd containers and bewildering entubed female forms. In 1969 he donated it to Yale University, and the original has since been in the possession of the Beinecke Rare Book Room & Library.

It is generally accepted that there are six sections in the Voynich Manuscript.
1 A herbal of mainly fantastic plants.
2 Astrological charts, some with sun, moon and star diagrams, others with zodiac signs and symbols.
3 ‘Biological’ drawings featuring entubed female forms, or gravidae.
4 A cosmological fold-out section comprising related worlds depicted as mapped spheres, variously described as either microscopic and cellular or global.
5 A pharmacopoeia ( pharma section ) which includes containers and plant ingredients.
6 ‘Recipes’, short paragraphs of text, each attached to a star.

There is only so much information available about this book, which is one of a kind. I would like to know what all you’re theories are on this book? Why is the writing unknown? Surely more books have been found in this strange text? And where do you think it came from?

Drawings of plants that have never been identified. And written in a language never translated, because it’s never been seen before?

There is an European research group that is working on the manuscript, the EVMT project, here is the link:

i found the document, almost all of its pages, here:

http://voynich.no-ip.com/folios/

one of the pages shows the sun, in the center of an anagram, maybe a drawing of your solar system...
if this is correct, the manuscipt is from the 16th century, or more recent

-Edit, Changed this to a remote link as the image is too big to fit on the forum

maybe a drawing of your solar system...

So when you say “YOUR” solar system, does this mean you’re from another? blink.gif

What a fascinating book! Given time, I imagine someone will be able to decipher it. original.gif

yep, but the question is What will they find?
Many of the books pages are filled with small women taking shower...
Even the plant illustrations seem to be there only for decorative purposes, they fit the text, and the book isn't organized like an enciclopedia or a dictionary.
By now i looked at almost all of its pages, and truly, it looks like someone with a big sense of humor and lots of time is laughing at us right now.

It may be a personal code and not really a language. I have my own since my childhood because I used to write my diary with it. Anyway is truly fascinating. I'll check all once more.

It looks like a journal to me. Perhaps from an early traveler during that time period. Yes, it is interesting...although it makes one wonder if it might be unable to be decoded or whatever... dontgetit.gif
