Nintendo and Apple Merge: Is this for Real?
by Jay Forbes

Apple, the I-pod manufacturer, has confirmed that they will sign a $787 million merge contract with Nintendo Corporation. Joining the 2 companies' hardware and software together will not take full effect until 2008.

Apple will be offering downloads of classic NES games on iTunes as early as June. Nintendo may change plans for the Revolution to allow Mac OS X versions to be pre-installed.

"The idea just seemed to make sense," said Apple CEO Steve Jobs. "After all, both of our companies make and distribute uniquely integrated hardware and software, so why not do it together?"

"After all, this is the company which helped make the mouse such an important piece of computer architecture, when most other companies were still using text interfaces," Nintendo President Iwata said. "They truly echo Nintendo's commitment to innovation."

When asked about his opinion on the merge, famed Shigeri Miyamoto responded: "Hey, as long as they keep paying me, I'll be here."

Whether this is for real or a cruel April fool’s joke remains to be seen. If this is true, then big changes are on the horizon.

Gotta be fake. mellow.gif

Although it would make more sense for Apple to piggyback on Nintendo rather than try to make a console to directly compete with MS.

Maybe its an April Fools joke.

It is an april fool's joke based on the fact that Nintendo is taking styling and marketing ideas from Apple.

That doesn't even make sense, unless you can access iTunes on the Rev. Also Microsoft wanted to but Nintendo years ago, but N turned them down. I doubt they'd merge with Apple at such a critical point before E3.
