I may be a non christian and I may not agree with their beliefs but at least I respect it but after reading this, it really shocked me...it was sick twisted and so so sad...How could anyone torture and kill someone for being a Christian WTF??? ohmy.gif I can't imagine it, I couldnt even bring myself to insult them for their faith let alone kill them

I was shocked by these stories and some angered me angry.gif

Paid With Their Lives

They stood up for right, but paid with their lives...Soldiers came into their homes and dragged them out to the dungen of no return

Children

Children where taken from the arms of their parents, and parents taken from their children
The children where brought out from their prison cells, and spectators held their breath, while some laughed believing that the childrens fate was deserving. The hungry lions were set on to the children, and the children where torn appart while their parents had to watch crying.gif

Pregnant Mothers - had their tummys cut up and their babies killed..while their husbands where made watch crying.gif

Those who where not eaten or tortured ..where burnt alive!!!

They never fed the loins they starved them just enough so they would not just be hungry but blood thirsty!!!

Thats just some of the horrible things that happened to Christians but it happened centuries ago, and how history will be repeating itself...Ohh Lord I sure hope it don't..I can't see this happening again

Here is where I got this from - http://www.articles4ever.com/news-and-soci...tured-10051.htm

I pray this kind of thing NEVER happens again blink.gif

That is extremely sick. People are always talking about what the Christians did, but they never mention this. Thanks for posting this.

I don't even like thinking about those pore kids. They must have been terrified. Giant ass lions chasing you down and ripping you apart. >_<

During the roman persecution of the christian faith i guess. I must agree with the sentiment that while I may not agree with what youre saying, i'd fight to the death for your right to say it...i couldn't see killing someone for a choice of faith as a just act...

The Christians were persecuted by the Romans and other, more dominant, religious faiths almost immediately after their formation.

Though, it only took them a couple of centuries to gain the upper hand and gain control.

But believe me, a few centuries of persecution is nothing compared to the two thousand years of horror they've inflicted upon the world.

It was a joke. But the key word there is SUPPOSE to. Because many Christians don't act like those who follow Jesus.

I got ya. yes.gif and i agree wholeheartedly. still i don't think that the actions of the murderous christians should depreciate the deaths of those who came before them.

Then you have to say that the murderous deaths before them were justified, and their for a platform for the injustice that took place.

I must admit...i don't quite follow you there...i merely said that even though later sins were committed, we shouldn't forget the deaths of those that came before...not sure what you want me to do though...

This happened in Iraq, not to that extent but sadam killed off many Christians as he wanted to convert them to muslim, he also raised all the taxes to anyone who was Christian so that they'd have a very hard time living sad.gif
Waspie_Dwarf
The very term Christian comes from the Romans referring to those followers that the crucified as "little Christs."

One thing you have to remember about the Romans and the times that they lived in is that they were brutal. They treated anyone that they considered a threat in the same way, not just Christians.

I couldn't get that type of image out of my head last night..it is disturbing to say the least. Sick thing to sit and watch some lil kids & toddlers being attacked by blood thirsty lions, having their very heads torn off and eaten. crying.gif ..and what got me was the people in the audience laughing thinking the lil children deserved it WTF???? I hope ALL of them that did this and even those who laughed at it..I hope they ALL rotted in hell angry.gif Being a christian should not have been like a threat FFSAKE...and couldnt they see that those lil children most likely didn't understand religion??? Sick freaks...I know God is all forgiving but geee there is a line to cross, there just has to be.
I never understood as to WHY Jesus said while on the cross..."Forgive them father, for they know not what they do".....of course they know what they are doing..the sick freaks!!!

Manfred I have learned about how christian leaders killed children and those who where non christian ect ect and other religious faiths have committed more or less the same crimes...dont forget I am from N.Ireland..and ofr over 30 years catholics where shot dead for being catholics ....but that should be a seprate thread don't you think?? As this one id purely about the christians that where brutally killed and eaten not to forget burnt alive for their faith

I know it happened in Iraq...I have read about all the horrid torture that Sadam had done on to others and he did it to his own people as well as christians...he and his sons used to throw christians (or anyone that was not a muslim) and some muslims that where accused of showing disrespect to ie - A poster of Sadam himself..as it where a crime to so much as to take off your shoe and beat the poster of Sadam with it...ohh this is true I saw it on the news...what he did to those people..he had them fed into a shredder...some went feet 1st..some went in head 1st...he had some placed into steel coffins and layed out into the desert in the hot sun to die, his sons used to film themselves torturing other muslims as well as chrsitians..by chopping off their limbs ect......I know all about this..and I am glad his two sons are dead and glad that sadam was finally captured...pity they didnt torture him in the same way he had others tortured blink.gif ...from what I believe the freak is still alive!!!

It was really sad to read such horrific stories like that...like I said before I couldn't dream of hurting a christian or anyone for that matter just because they follow a faith???!! They seem to think history will repeat itself...I just hope not blink.gif

The Fact is Christians are still Persecuted today for their faith...Christians arent exactly "innocent" especially history proves this but still they can have it bad and its good to see both sides of the story- equally grotesque latest attacks on Christians include:

Indonesia 2005: 3 school girls were found beheaded near Poso. The girls, students at Central Sulawesi Christian Church, were killed by six unidentified assailants while on their way to class.

Nigeria 2004: 200 Christians Killed/Burned

China 2002: 129 Chirstians Killed- 24,000 arrested for being "unregistered christians".

India 1999: Graham Staines, an Australian Christian missionary aged 55 years, and his two sons, aged 8 and 10, were burned to death in the state of Orissa by members of Hindutva Parivar, a Hindu nationalist group.

Sudan 1984: Over 1.5 million Christians killed by the Sudanese army the "Janjaweed".

Turkey 1915 to 1917: 1.5 million Armenian Christians and Syriac Christians (Assyrians) killed by the Young Turk government in the "Armenian Genocide"

Theres much much more where they came from so before you go on saying how Evil Christians are and how bloody their hands on take a good look at the bigger picture and see even today Christians are suffering...

Where is the justice in all of this? was there anything done about it??

These people that kill christians for their faith all need strung up and left to die a slow painful death..yea I know two wrongs don't make a right...but ff sake...how long must it go on for huh?? Someone needs to do something....like inject the murdering sicko's with AIDS or something...yea I am cruel but ..I believe the punishment should fit the crime

If I ran a country and this happened...I would bring back the death penalty disgust.gif I would set certain rules/laws of my own like...

Those who so much as show disrespect towards a religious person or persons(meaning to taunt and tease) ..will be sentenced to prison for a few years

Those who kill ie Christians and others for their faith...will be sentenced to death without mercy

Those who kill - The death penelty

Those who rape and sexually abuse lil kids...cut off what was used..and throw them into prison for at least 20 years..heh they wont be commiting that crime again happy.gif

If you commit blasphemy and vandalize religious buildings ect...off to prison for you for at least 5-7 years...and you get a heft fine too up to $100,000 happy.gif

Those who steal...darn it of to prison for you...for at least 5 years

Those who try and force someone to turn their back on their faith....A hefty fine and off to prison for at least 3-4 years yes.gif

No nothing is done- Christians are still persecuted in many countries and its generated and is supported by that countries governments and its DISGUSTING! Anyone of any faith can come down to where i live (Australia) and practice their own faith with a sense of safety and security- why cant a Christian live in a majorly Non Christian country without being tormented, restricted, tortured , converted or even killed? It makes no sense to me. Australia is a "Christian" country but has people of every race and religion living in relatively good harmony! Then i go and read pages like this where Christians are taxed higher- their Bibles are removed- they are lashed in public- forced to convert- shunned for their beliefs, having Bibles destroyed- churches burned...Only because of their religion! Its shocking and as tough as it is i kinda agree with your law BM id be SO strict like that too...Why do people have to screw up what could potentially be a beautiful thing (religion).
Theres no harmony is this world. angry.gif

Well done bm for raising this issue. So called Christians in the past definetly do have blood on their hands, but i call them 'so called' as they did not do this in following any scripture. They were not Christians in my opinion as Jesus and the bible did not expect or decree or demand or condone this behaviour. It has been attributed to Christians but these people no more had Christ in their hearts than Satan does!

Christians are persecuted all over the globe and it is accepted. Religious tolerance is narrowing all the time, even in this 'great' age of globalisation, and the global village. This is one sick village. I believe the Christian way is the right way, i am a fundamentalist if you want to label me that just like jesus was. But i do not agree with prejudice, discrimination, or any form of hatred,- my faith, my lord forbids it!! Are some Christians intolerant,-yes, are they living biblically in the correct way Christ instructed,-no! Its that simply, there will be bad apples in every cart, and it is God alone who will judge whether they are in fact apples atall so to speak!

Why did jesus say forgive them for they know not what they do, BM?
Yes they knew they were crucifying someone, (they had probably done this thousands and thousands of times in the past), just not who exactly. They did not know they were crucifying God himself incarnate, as the bible tells us,-if they had knew they would not have crucified the lord of glory. This is why Jesus said forgive them they know not what they do, in other words they do not know who I AM.

I started a thread shortly after Christmas using an article from that site. Anywho, while I'm not denying that some "Christians" have committed atrocities, it is a fact of life that Christians are persecuted today, shunned, marginalized, tortured and even killed.

Those cultures that persecuted the first Christians are the same cultures that supposedly became Christian (not by choice but by decree and you know how well that converts people spiritually) and went on still persecuting people.

They are not two separate groups of people but the same exact peoples who when they ran out of pagans to kill to seize property, turned on each other.

It took a long time but Christinaity evenually replaced many of their deep seated pre-Christian cultural perspectives, including life is cheap. Those nations went on to be among the first in the world to abolish officially slavery and enforce its abolishment to this day. Anyone can check the dates to see this.

It is also a statistical fact that one atheist killed more people under his power in his lifetime than all the people ever killed as a result of a Christian religious decree, and that includes the Crusades. It was Joseph Stalin and he killed 40 million of the citizens under his rule.

I see postings about how much paganism was incorporated into Christianity, but what I do not see posted is the obvious contining pagan practices of persecuting others of different faiths that did not exist in original Christianity. All they ever want to do is look at the nice things paganism added and none of the bad, while only looking at the bad things they perceive Christianity to have brought and none of the good.

Pagans did this and Christians did that might work today but back then the reality was that those people were all a mixture of both for a very long time and what atrocities they did they did to themselves more than to anyone else before they learned better.

I had to raise it...I myself never would have believed such horror that happened to christian...when I read the articals..I could feel a lump in my throat...it's really sad...so I think others need to be made aware of it yes.gif

I dont believe the christian or any other belief is the right way but I so DO RESPECT your belief as a christian....you may find this weird coming from me...but not only is my mother a born again christian but i have my own daughter baptized as a christian...I have my reasons for it....I will never teach her to show disrespect to anyone or their faiths

When I read the entire artical...I had visions in my head of my own little girl being torn appart because she is christian...the horror that went through those lil kids minds is too much for me to comperhend...I don't think I will EVER forget that story...it's freaky and disturbing

Tags...I know Jesus had his reasons to forgive them...but to me when I 1st heard the story of Jesus back when i was just a child...I was taught that Jesus was a kind loving man and the son of God.....our teacher used to read us many stories about the work of Jesus..so when it came time to hear how they put him to death...this annoyed me..and some of my lil friends...we cried (well we where just kids) and whats worse when we watched a movie on his life we cried some more....

Tags Jesus may forgive but I don't...I dont think he should have been put to death for preaching about his father...I mean what harm was he doing??? therefore I hope those that condemned him to the cross all rotted in hell....thats how I feel about it

As for the sick twisted freaks of nature that killed these people for being Christians...I hope they ALL burned in hell and still are....sorry but it's how I feel about it all

I couldn't believe it when Ramster posted a few stories on how the same kind of thing is STILL going on WTF???? this is unbelievable...what ever happened to justice??? WHY cant people do anything about this???...what if the artical is right and history keeps repeating itself and things get a lot worse?? It needs to be stopped...well all I can do is pray..thats all I have is prayer

I am sorry christians had to be put to death like that...I only wish I could do something

If either of you are christians you should be proud of who and what you are...after all I am proud to be me...just becuae I am not a christian doesnt mean I cant be proud..I am proud of the fact my lil girl is one....I can't ever be bias towards this subject...but pray hard that it comes to an end

Not just Christians though. All around the world people are persecutated for their faith. This can be on the level of nations enforcing a state religion (or state atheism) on there population down to individual cases such as the rising number of attacks against Jewish graveyards in Europe.

But there is also the question of Christians trying to force there views on others as well. Isn't the attitude towards homosexuallity shown by many Christians persecution?

There is a difference between discrimination and persecution.

PERSECUTION - The infliction of suffering or harm upon those who differ (in race, religion or political opinion) in a way regarded as offensive.

Courts have cautioned that "persecution is an extreme concept that does not include every sort of treatment our society regards as offensive." Fatin v. INS, 12 F.3d 1233, 1243 (3d Cir. 1993) (treatment of feminists in Iran is not so harsh as to amount to "persecution"). Discrimination on the basis of race or religion, as morally reprehensible as it may be, does not ordinarily amount to "persecution" within the meaning of the Act. See Bastanipour v. INS, 980 F.2d 1129, 1133 (7th Cir. 1992) (distinguishing persecution "from mere discrimination or harassment"). link

Either way, the only power that any type of Christians within the USA have to do either would be witnin the church groups themselves as they do not control the government of the USA which is secular.

Religious groups have the right to discriminate as to who may be members under both Freedom of Association and Freedom of Religion. They are private and not public groups.

Supposedly private groups, private schools, and private clubs should recieve no financial support from public funds. Now there is where those not welcome as members have a valid complaint as their tax money is welcome there but they are not. The same line of thought could also be applied to private groups being tax exempt while building swimming pools, gyms, gold courses, hotel retreats, and other things for their exclusive membership.

Today some church grounds resemble private country clubs more than places of religious education.

Why didn't you just deck him user posted imageThats rude to also show disrespect towards your own mother...she did bring you life....something tells me he may be repeating what he hears at home from his own family..that may disapprove of your dad married to a christian??? I could be wrong but it wouldn't surprise me blink.gif

Jesus was not a fundementalist. He broke the fundementalist dogmas of his day in gathering food on the Sabbath. He was a religious progressive who preached against the fundementalism of his time.

What is a fundamentalist? give me a definition and i will continue this discussion with you. I feel you need to know what you are talking about before commenting, so just look it up, its much more simple for everyone.

Back to the topic-say what you want about the Romans, but maybe they realized the potential for harm that the new religion could cause. Look what happened in 300 years after they took over-1500 years of pogroms, crusades, the inquisition, holy wars, witch burnings. Maybe the Romans knew what they were doing, and just didn't finish the job. Xians have massacred and genocided worse than any other religion or polital group. I am not saying this out of revenge or hatred.

Jews have been persecuted more than any other people, by far. But let's take a look at who hasn't been persecuted. Who?

As for the world today, I highly suggest watching The Corporation: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0379225/ .... Or, at least read about it.

Frodo: It's a pity Bilbo didn't kill him when he had the chance.

Gandalf: Pity? It was pity that stayed Bilbo's hand. Many that live deserve death. Some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them, Frodo? Do not be too eager to deal out death in judgment. Even the very wise cannot see all ends. My heart tells me that Gollum has some part to play yet, for good or ill before this is over. The pity of Bilbo may rule the fate of many.

Disgusting. This has also happened to "Pagans" and Muslims, by the hands of Christians. This terrible event was called The Inquisition and, for the most part, was to lessen the threat against Christianity and purify Europe of the surrounding Muslims and "Sorcerery" or the like.

The bottom line is that every religion, at one time or another, has persecuted another religion. This includes those with the lack of a religion. Religion has caused war, and it has created "Miracles", love, and occasionally a bit of peace or compromise. Torture is never a pretty thing. It's even uglier when it is targetted against a specific minority or group of individuals.

I feel you need to know what you are talking about before commenting,

I know exactly what I am talking about and I already stated it. Perhaps you should review Sabbath laws in the time of Jesus.
He broke the Sabbath law according to the literal fundementalist interpretation of it in his time.
He stated that the fundementalist interpretation was wrong, that the Sabbath was made to serve man, that man was not made to be a servant of the Sabbath.

Of course the Christian fundementalists of today are different from the Hebrew fundementalists of then, but that does not make Jesus a fundementalist like modern ones.
He believed in change and there is no resemblance of that in modern fundementalism or of any fundementalism in any time period at all.

You may have your own perspective of what fundementalism is, but in general when the term is used today the world over it means people who believe that their holy texts are perfect, infallible, that the interpretations by leaders of their clergy are the correct ones, and that these interpretaions should never ever be changed.

A very wise quote from The Lord of the Rings.

QUOTE
Many that live deserve death. Some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them, Frodo? Do not be too eager to deal out death in judgment. Even the very wise cannot see all ends.

Here J.R.R. Tolkien is illustrating, through Gandalf, the ways of justice. As Gandalf said, many that live deserve death, and some that die deserve life. The reasoning behind the killing and maiming of the the individual can be of many reasons, some which many humans would agree merits the person death. In today's society, if a person murdered your family, you would be vindictive and most of the populus would agree that this man deserves punishment.

However, go back to the Witch Trials. Almost all of the "Witches" and "Warlocks" burned or hunted were innocent people who helped society all they could. Did they deserve death and torture by today's standards? Clearly not, but back then superstition played a larger role on the minds of people, and without today's sciences or medicines, it was easier to blame Witchcraft and Sorcerery. Those many people in the burning times were innocent.

So because of this, "Do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. Even the very wise cannot see all ends."

while killing is viewed as horrible (i won't go into the whys), in the bigger picture we must be careful in our accepting and condemning of such actions, for we know not what they will bring. Killing the christians, if completed by the romans, might well have made the world a better place. On the other hand, had the christians not been persecuted they might not have so quickly taken to persecuting others and the world might well have been a better place. (don't forget to ask exactly what "a better place" is) Whose place is it to judge the actions of others, of another time; to so easily say whether or not someone or something should have been killed? People do a wonderful job at justifiying their actions. So easy is it to justify killing person A, and saving person B, all on rather superficial attributes, while overlooking life itself.

Far more complex than most see it, it is. Never so linear as portrayed in sci-fi texts, is it.

Hyper no one innocent especially lil kids/toddlers deserved to die...come on they prolly didnt understand what the heck religion was about...all they cared about was most likely when they where going to get feed next ect.......how can killing those lil children be for the best??? Thats sick not to mention what they did to the unborn babies WTF???

I'll spin this one around on you Hyper.....lets say the romans thought that by killing every single NB there was for NOT following a faith...as they feared the NB's would be more disrupt full and bring more evil and believed these NB's where Satans chosen ones....tell me Hyper try and imagine you with your lil kids and they get dragged off to be torn and eaten by the lions all because their parents are NB's so does that make it ok??

Dont think so sleepy.gif

Sorry, you are wrong.
This accusation is repeatedly brought up in college classes by those raised to be anti-Christian.
The experts of different fields did the calculations and even including the crusades it did not add up even close to the millions upon millions killed during Stalin's reign, that covered a single lifetime rather than thousands of years.
In other words it is a just a type of blood lible used by those who hate Christians, and only those ignorant of history outside of their hate groups versions against Christians believe it.

Bella I made this thread to raise an issue on how badly christians where killed and how sick it all was...because I never knew about it and felt to share it with others..but on the other hand I am also well aware that a lot of people where killed by christianity...and Bella not just christianity..other faiths like - the islamic faith..and so on I forgot to mention the Jews..they where killed for being Jews..threw into the gas chambers ect....my point is that NO ONE should die for their faith no.gif
Harpie Lady
This is the saddest thing I've read crying.gif , & it's horrible to think what people in power have had the authority to do especially over religion & faith.............

I DONT THINK ANY ONE SHOULD BE PUT TO DEATH BECAUSE OF THERE FAITH, WHETHER THEY HAVE IT OR NOT, it's there choice, We as individuals may not always agree on how another person feels or particularly what they believe or think but that's whole point of beeing on self and what seperates from other people...................
