Hey, I got a question referring about my house. We got some suicidal history. Happened not to long ago, our street is built on an indian burial ground(my neighbor told me, i dont think shes kidding). We prolly got two entities, they are hopefully nice because they seem rather calm. One is a man who shot him self in the attic where my brother sleeps in. My room is next to it. the door is right in there....i assume we have a calm haunting...do you think its possible that we are in a haunted house? want opinions.

Maybe but if someone died in ur house doesn't always mean it's haunted. Do u see any signs?

'Indian Burial Grounds' seem to be the stock answer to anyone who thinks their home is haunted.
Could it be that you live near water? In an area with sub-frequency sound? Near a fault line in the earth? Close to power lines?
Keep us informed - I'd be interested to know how this progresses......

if you mean power line, we live accross the street from a telephone pole if thats what your asking. it could either be A: next door B: my imagination C: that it really is haunted. sometimes my computer screws up on me, even if I do nothing to it. Last night, my dvd turned on when I pressed the stop button a few minutes later. Cuz I dont remember turning it on. And when I go upstairs in the attic sometimes it seems like there is steps walking up, I always think its my brother or something trying to scare me. Im not sure if its next door because we live in a double home but it does sound like its coming in the room.

Alien ~ it's probably a mix of A & B ........ houses make very odd noises when they settle......creaks, groans, etc etc..........imagination can sometimes fill in the 'blanks' and, hey-presto - you've talked yourself into a haunting.
My puter goes screwy, out CD players do strange things, but it's down to the amount of radio-waves and all that static electricity flying around.
Can you get hold of an EMF meter and a electro-thermometre? Do some baseline readings around the home to see if this detects any fluctuations.

I used to live in a little cottage which I think was haunted. A freind now lives there, and the other day she told me she thought it was haunted. I'm not sure of the history of the place, but It's an average age of about forty years old I think. I'm gonna do some history-lookuping.

English? Sorry but I'm a bit blonde in the area of "EMF meters" and "electro thermometers"

Keep us informed on your research would be intresting to know what you come up with. I do agree with some of hammys theorys they are all plausable explanations for huantings.

Out of curiosity, what is the significance of living near water?

Hi Raczilla
The significance of living near water?????
well, water generates static electricity.......... after doing my own research I found that certain 'hauntings' occur near rivers, streams, etc etc.
T.C. Lethbridge first made this connection (have a read of some of his books - fascinating), and many others have come to the same conclusions.
Elizabethlea - EMF meters measure electric & magnetic fields, and a decent electro-thermometer can provide excellent readings. If you are going to investigate somewhere it is always wise to do some 'baseline' tests, like a 'control'.

[B]HeLLo,
If you will used "Feng Shui"vis-a-vis your current situation. It is considered not "Good" for the family & for you to lived near a cemetery.
Becoz it brings in a different Negative energy.
Lastly, you can buy a pc. of Crystal Amulet, and used it as a tool to get answer's when you want to something

And what if you live in a county that doesn't have indians? What then? would you call it a "Not Indians" burial ground?

Over here in the UK we'd probably blame it on 'Black Leys' or an ancient plague pit or something like that!

I agree with Hammy here, indian burial grounds are the kind of catch-all if people say they are near or on an indian burial ground and they hear some funny noises then the place must be haunted.
I think it is your neighbours and your imagination, as all computers play up, take mine for instance I get computer freezes at the most annoying times.
Also if you have a power line running near your house, you can get discharges off it at odd times, this can make everything highly charged and then if you have underground water as well, then it would be even worse, the amount of charge it would generate would be enough to make things fly off the wall, and even jump at the slightest thing that would alter the charge.
The high charge would even effect you by making you hallucinate. As has been known to happen at Leys. Which are also known as Spirit Paths, for obvious reasons.

Do you know of (m)any haunted bridges?

To be the devil's advocate here.
Underground water - One of my Mom's friends lives In Belgium and they used to think one of their houses was haunted. The constant move of the water underneath the house made the two feel like they were disoriented. And then things would move off tables etc. It had all the classics of a haunting.
On the other hand at one time, my whole family lived in Matthews NC. Mom and Dad had just bought a brand new house on a new development. People all over the neighborhood found arrowheads, ancient tools, little wooden toys, all kinds of neat stuff in the ground. From some research believed that this development was on a old trading post where the Indians and settlers would go. There were active hauntings in some of the brand new homes.
On a couple of occasions weird stuff would happen.
One day a lady's answering machine called my work place and I just happened to answer the phone. I said "Hello this is _______, Hello this is ______." All of a sudden the answering machine kicks in and it says "Hello this is Karen ______, I'm sorry but I'm not home right now, plz leave a message and I'll call you back." - I had never called this # from my workplace. My Mom had never been over at her house and called me at work from that phone #. Very strange indeed.
Another instance was . . .
Another house a lady had twin children that were 3 years old. They kept playing with who the Mom thought was an imaginary friend. Mom started asking questions about what the friend was wearing and his name etc and the children came up w/identical answers. The children told her that their friend lived in the closet and would come out to play. Mom setup her camera corder and taped the children playing one day. When she played it back the children opened the closet door to let their imaginary friend out and the VC went to static although you could still hear the audio. And in that audio you could hear another childs voice, not the same of her children. Lots of strange things happened from that house. They still live there today.
Some on the street are very quite, since we lived in the bible-belt people didn't want to believe in the other side. But they knew about us being Yankee's and most all of them confided in my Mom. So I have other stories about those on that new development.
So I can see both sides of the argument.
Take care all!

Hey alien ,
This is U.S Veteran. I would just like to say a few things about your question...
First,You never really know the truth. It can all be hear say, So remember don't
get your self all worked up.It sucks I know, I've been there...

. If your on an ancient buriel ground, You would not be wanted there, Indians have a really strict custom when it comes to there people. Im not trying to freak you out or anything , but i heard that they can be very violent...so be waryy of them. That whole water thing.... I really believe in that cuz of the energy. After i read that from Hammy, ''Hello by the way Hammy'', I started thinking cuz i posted my own story on this subject but unfortunatly i posted it in sightings, reports an expirences. I did that by mistake, it was my first time here as a member... but any way i have a river behind my apartment complex, feel free to read it if you like...
and please keep us posted.
