Full Version: Dreamland is real, this world isn't...

Since I was 8 years old (now I'm 17), I've always felt that I am special.
That nothing could ever kill me, I felt that I was invincible.
I've been particularly lucky in every unlucky situation that my friends and I have been in.
And since I was 8, I've been searching, searching for the answers to life. I've pondered over the questions of life, why I am here, for what purpose?

I've formulated many theories of my own, and modified existing theories in my many years of searching for the truth. I believe the mind is real, but the world is not. We are able to see, hear, feel, taste and even smell without our physical senses. We can achieve all these with the power of thought alone. This physical body is a shell, a vessel, a dress in which the mind resides to do whatever it is here to do.

But, unfortunately, the question of why we are here is rarely asked, let alone understood. Most people of this world are too attached to this 'reality', and so they never see the true form of Nature, or understand the meaning of spirituality.

There is an article about a man who bought World of Warcraft (I play it too) and within days became so addicted to it he stayed at home and played the game for 18 hours a day. Soon, he became thin, fragile and weak. He believed that he could stay alive in the physical world by consuming virtual food in the game. In less than a month, he died, his body found beside his computer...

This is exactly what is happening to most of us. We are too obsessed with this 'reality' and so never bother to find out 'why we are here'. Many people have lived enjoyable and luxurious lives, accomplishing great things, serving mankind to the end of their lives, but many die as sad men or women. Because they have lived a life without ever finding out the truth and doing what they were here to do.

I've felt special all my young life. I know I must have a purpose here. There is something I should do. But what? Or is life merely a game we all play a part here, and that it is pointless?

Our bodies eventually shut down and die, but I see our souls as being eternal. To me it is the essence that has more substance. For that reason, it's more real to me.

oh yes, i mentioned about consciousness in my other topic i wrote today...
Yelekiah
I always say this, but consciousness in my opinion, is not limited to the brain.
novaceleste
I believe that our physical life is just a lesson on our path of spiritual evolution.
Astronema
umm if dreams are real why do we have nightmares??
Ashiene
I believe it works the same way as radio waves..
Our minds (the radio) picks up these frequencies (radio waves) when we sleep and thus we realize that dreamworld is always there, but we can only access it during our sleep (when the radio is switched on and receives these radio waves).
Ashiene
sorry I made a mistake with the topic title.
I wanted to write "Your mind is real, this world isn't"...
Heru
Ummm hate to break it to you but that man wasnt obsessed with reality he was obsessed with an illusion. Just like dreams are an illusion.
novaceleste
Whether dreams the reality or not, I believe that dreams are atleast our subconscious minds connecting to the universal force/spirit guides. Dream journals have helped me alot and have suprised me as well with what they connect with in the physical.
Uversa
interesting. I have two things to say to you though.

1. You are no more special than any other living thing on this planet.

2. To say that the "dreamworld" is "real" and this world isnt, is just pure ignorrance. To say that they are both as "real" (whatever you mean by that) as eachother is more understandable.

I think that dreams are an illusion of the sub-conscious mind, but out of body travel and astral projection bring our souls to another place. Whether the place is in our own heads, or a spiritual realm i dont know. maybe when we die, our consciousness seperates from our physical bodies(silver cord), and does whatever it wants forever. it would create another place to go to, like "heaven". for some, their own lives might bring upon them a world that is similar to "hell."

I think the poem from which I take my name sums up my feelings on this subject.

Eldorado - Edgar Allan Poe

Gaily bedight,
A gallant knight
In sunshine and in shadow
Had journeyed long,
Singing a song,
In search of Eldorado.

But he grew old -
This knight so bold -
And o'er his heart a shadow
Fell, as he found
No spot of ground
That looked like Eldorado.

And, as his strength
Failed him at length,
He met a pilgrim shadow:
"Shadow," said he,
"Where can it be -
This land of Eldorado?"

"Over the mountains
Of the moon,
Down the valley of the Shadow
Ride, boldly ride,"
The shade replied,
"If you seek for Eldorado!"

Everyone is special and your just 17. But its ok you seem to have good skills in putting words together. Study more about the idea and wirte on this subject again I would be glad to read it. Life and death are very real. Dreams are just dreams or now no one knows what they are for sure but they are very strange. And can mess your head up if you spend to much time in the debate of being a reality or not. Life is very real I mean look around people have pain and suffereing and if life was not real I doubt we would feel the things we have here. The smell of fresh coffe in the morning or the smell after a good dump. The pain when you smash your thumb with a hammer or the felling of a nice warm bed. Anyway you understand what I am saying here? I am a little more worried about you because at 17 you need to understand what is real and what is not. And it sounds like you got it twisted up. So back up and think about things life is very real and so is death. Beyond that we only have the pit of reason and thats what ever you can make of it. grin2.gif
DaveyHolyhead
you beleive your special because you are special. everyone regardless of race, colour, sex, gender, age is special. our souls are not eternal but the journey we have been on to get here is one that started at the birth of cosmos. the eternal journey.

since the beginning of time, some 4,500 billion years ago. life was present at the birth of the cosmos, it started evolving from the moment the comos settled into a steady temperate rythum. from then constant procreation through the ages until one day, there you are....

if there was an adam and eve, then they could have avoided the world we all live in today if only they had kept away from each other. if they hadnt of bonked they would have died and there wouldnt be any human life on the planet. the planet would be home to all the other species who know how to look after the planet.

from the moment the procreation cycle of human life started, the world was doomed.

is there a meaning to life. Dont know.
but it is all a bit special.

heres a thought for you, as you look up at the stars you imagine someone is looking back at you from another planet in orbit around another star. they would be completely unaware that your world existed. they would see what you see, stars. there could be one world, ours, or there could be as many worlds as there are stars in the heavens. perhaps on our eternal journey will be born on everyone of an infinite number of worlds, perhaps the meaning of life is to realise that we are all in purgatory. a place where souls appear to have a limited existance but in reality will be here for ever.

i think im waffling again...
not sure if im making any sense.
perhaps you could decide.

Of course we live in an illusion we believe is real. Have none of you seen "What the bleep do we know"?

Listen to this interview: http://www.newsforthesoul.com/icke-may9-2005.htm

And read this newsletter.

In this newsletter we often discuss the "wisdom of the ages" in the
context of the Law of Attraction, because these Universal Laws,
principles and realities are indeed ageless, eternal and infinite,
and like The Source, The First Cause, God Him/Herself are at the
same time omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent.

However, modern quantum physics whether the scientists would
publicly admit it or not, are in total agreement with this ancient
knowledge.

Although Our Ultimate Reality sets this out in great detail, this
week I would like to recommend a very unique, powerful and special
book by a very good friend of mine; Christoper Westra.

His book is aptly called " I Create Reality" and can be found here:

www.mindpowerbooks.com/icreatereality

I cannot speak highly enough about Christopher or his book, and
anyone interested in a holographic perspective of creating your own
reality should read it.

There is also a really excellent audio-visual presentation on the I
Create Reality site which summarizes reality in a very powerful
way, and well worth viewing.

This leads me on to quantum physics generally which I have
personally studied and continue to study in great depth.

It continues to amuse me that quantum physicists continue to treat
their profession as a pure science, almost as if it is separate
from "every day reality". They know very well that what they
discover, practice and write about is really no different to the
teachings of the most ancient philosophies, and the only thing
that really differs is the scientific language used.

If only everyone would remove these barriers to stand united and
state quite categorically to the world that "there is only one
Universe, One Reality and One Truth, and this is it....." then the
entire world would change for the better from that moment forth.

Quantum physics illustrates how everything in the Universe, in all
dimensions of life and reality ultimately consists of "Quanta" of
Energy, vibration. This Energy not only pervades and is integral to
everything in existence, it is also "living" Mind, living
Consciousness.

Everything in the Universe therefore has its being within this
infinite intelligent Energy.

Everything is an aspect of this infinite intelligence, every
person, every animal, every tree, every star and every planet, and
every micro-organism, however small, is ultimately an equal aspect
of the very same Energy; there is no separateness except as an
illusion created by the ego and five physical senses; we and
everything in the Universe without exception are one.

Because the Universe is infinite intelligence of which we are all
integral aspects, Quanta of Energy are influenced by the Mind;
thought also being pure Energy. Whenever you look at a possession
such as a house, a car, a television set, they are in fact nothing
more or less than an arrangement of Energy, or Quanta, ultimately
created by thought processes of the Mind. If these objects were to
be inspected very closely, it would be apparent that they are not
solid at all but are rather composed of Quanta of Energy vibrating
and moving at extremely high rates in an out of the object being
observed.

Nothing can exist permanently unless it is observed because it is
Mind that controls and shapes Quanta of Energy, and without that
focus of the Mind the Quanta would once again become a "potential"
for something else. If for example everyone in the world were to
cease observing the world and everything in it, by ceasing to focus
on it's perceived existence, then everything would cease to exist.

There would be no thought Energy to maintain the illusion of its
existence anymore. This is why the Earth and everything it
comprises, as well as the entire three-dimensional Universe is
referred to in some cultures as "Maya", and illusion. The Earth and
physical Universe are indeed an illusion and a grand scale, and
will one day be realised as such by all mankind once evolving
beyond the illusion of the physical Universe.

Quantum physics completely confirms this by recognising that
something can only actually come into "existence" when it is
observed. Of course "existence" is a term relative to the five
physical senses; everything that exists now has always existed and
always will exist, it is only the illusion of form that changes in
response to thought, Mind. When something is observed, Quanta come
together to form sub-atomic particles, and in turn atoms, then
molecules until finally something manifests in the physical world
as a localized space-time event that can be observed by the five
physical senses.

This process is the very basis of how each and every person creates
their own reality. Every single thought, as Energy, directly and
instantly influences the quantum field causing Quanta in the form
of Energy to arrange themselves into a localised, observable event,
object or other influence. This in fact is also the basic of true
"Magic". The magician, and those who understand and are in harmony
with Universal laws are conscious creators, whereas most people are
unconscious creators, always constantly creating their own reality
by their own thoughts, but never realising, usually ascribing
everything to such notions as "luck", "chance" and "fortune".
Conscious creation is also the basis of the Law of Attraction.

In quantum terms, Quanta can also be regarded as "packets of
probability". Every Quanta of Energy has a potential to be
anywhere at any time, and can be influenced by thought or other
Quanta. For example, if you wish to meet someone for the first
time, that person has the potential to exist anywhere in the world.

When you make the decision to meet with this person in a particular
place and then subsequently do so, that person no longer has only
potential, he or she has actually manifested as a physical reality
into your life in accordance with the mutual will of both people.
Once your meeting has concluded, the person will leave and become a
potential person once again relative to your own physical reality.

Quanta, including those of which you are constituted are not bound
by space or time. Quanta are spaceless, timeless and exist
everywhere concurrently. We therefore as aspects of the Universe,
The Source of God are also boundless, spaceless and timeless beings
existing concurrently everywhere in the Universe.

We have no limits, no boundaries, no specific point of existence,
these are all illusions created by the ego and the five physical
senses and the fact that most people are focused entirely in the
physical world which they continue to observe and regard as
reality. Everyone is an integral aspect of the same Mind-field,
much bigger and more powerful than most people can
possibly realize or have the capacity as yet to comprehend.

The Universe conceptually consists of illusions of the "observer"
and the "observed". In this way the Universe, The Source, God,
evolves experientially having both the capacity to observe and be
observed, as do all individuations of God including human beings
all of whom are such expressions of God made in the same true
Spiritual image.

The observed is meaningless without an observer, and likewise the
observer is meaningless without being observed. It is therefore by
this process of individuation that the process of the observer and
the observed is perpetuated, and evolution, expansion and growth
infinitely continues.

The entire Universe of which we are integral aspects is a vast
expanse of Energy vibrating at different rates from the lowest
vibration of matter to the highest vibration of The Source, The
First Cause, God. The illusion of separation is perpetuated by
virtue of the way in which Mind perceives and decodes these
vibrations. So "things" only exist because we observe them and our
Mind decodes the vibrations of the Energy of the "thing" being
observed. Without this observation, the "thing" being observed
cannot exist, except as a probability within the vast expanse of
Energy constituting the Universe. So everything in the Universe is
a probability of existence until such time as it is observed and
its Energy is decoded by the Mind, at which point the probability
becomes an actuality while it is being observed, after which it
becomes a probability once again.

Everything within the Universe is in the direction of life,
evolution and growth, nothing ever stands still or fails to evolve;
this is the Law as it applies to all levels. By the process and
individuation and thereby the perpetuation of the illusion of the
observer and the observed, growth can continue, but both are
required. There can be no growth without the observer and the
observed, because there would be no basis upon which to learn and
therefore to evolve.

As body, Soul and Spirit, our Ultimate Reality is infinite Energy
and intelligence beyond the boundaries of space and time as a true
Son or Daughter of God, existing infinitely and concurrently across
the entire Universe in all spheres of life and reality. Our
localised reality is simply our point of focus, our point of
conscious awareness, which, for most people, for the time being, is
within the physical body; most people still erroneously perceiving
themselves as completely separate individual people, housed in a
body of flesh. Only when every one begins to fully understand their
own nature as infinite Spiritual beings of the magnificent
multi-dimensional Universe can the human race turn back towards its
true purpose, to evolve back to the First Cause, The Light, God.

The nearer to The Source we reach, the more we experience the
glories of The Light until finally reaching, and having the
potential to reunite with The Source of The Light, and to once
again cease to be existed as an individuated Being, but rather to
be at One with God. This is the ultimate meaning of life, our
ultimate purpose, Our Ultimate Reality.

So at the final analysis, it is clear that their is only one truth,
one Universe and one reality.

It does not matter one iota how much dogmatic, Orthodox religions
or any other sector of "society" seek to dispute this for their own
purposes, usually those of control, the Ultimate Reality is
indisputable to all those who chose to think for themselves and see
it, thus feeling themselves from the chains that have shackled
humanity for at least the last 2000 years.

Our Ultimate Reality contains everything you need to know about
these most important matters, what they mean to you, and how to
make pursue your own true destiny.

Again, I highly recommend the book by Christopher Westra, "I Create
Reality":

We are all special = we all are the same = none of us is special = because where all the same.

Individual unique traits make us "speical" in literal terms, although, since everyone has their unique trait, that makes you no different than the next other than the unique trait itself.

This is worth a watch!

i watched that movie, and it only showed cool photography, computer generated images, and things i already knew.

Each person has special traits. the only thing similar about these traits is that each individual has them. the most general catagory is that each person has special traits. going further into the traits themselves shows that each person is unique.

You are special.
Yes Life is just a game.
No, it is not pointless.
To summarise a lengthy personal philosophy developed and still evolving over 55 years.

All life is subject to entropy and eventually ceases to exist.
This knowledge sets us free to make whatever we will of our lives.
Chose your own personal code/ set of beliefs to live by.
There are many truths out there, quite a few of which will work for you.
Set your own rules and change them if they don't work, for example if they hurt you or others.
Above all, remember life is your game, and have fun playing it.
In the end you cant win, but it is how you play the game that is the point.
Do NOT play some one else's game. This is a lot less likely to bring you happiness or satisfaction.

This issue of whether dreams are real. Well firstly i think that if dreams were real then why do we wake up every morning from this dream? The mind is yet extremely complicated. The question "Why are we here" can not be answered. It is a simple thought of understanding the concept that we are here to serve a purpose. This purpose is left entirely up to us. We can choose to serve god until we die, or we could choose to search for these answers our entire lives but obviously not finding them.
Well these are incredible issues to actualy ponder about, but its left entirely up to the individual on what really our purpose on earth is.

I hear people every day asking what the meaning of life is. Ask yourself this. What does every other organism on earth try to do? They try to find a mate, reproduce, and keep their species/genes going. What makes humans so special? There's a reason why we're grouped in the kingdom Animalia.

You and I think the same way. This universe is mearly an illusion to get our spirits ready for spiritlife. You are right about this body being a shell, a vessel, a dress in which the mind resides to do whatever it is here to do. We are spirits and nothing more but a perfect, eternal being. For anybody afraid of death, don't be, for the afterlife is going to be amazing. No pain, no suffering, sadness, anger. It will be the heaven we've all heard so much about.
