Ender's Game

First of all, I'd like to say hello personally - this being my first post.

So, my names Jake. I'm fourteen from Pennsylvania, USA - and just enjoy talking with other people about the topics on this website.

Anyhow, What really is on my mind right now - is the theories on what will happen in 2012.

"But Jake, how is the year 2012 any different - from any other year?" (For the ones who haven't heard about this).

Well, look at the following (Taken from wikipedia):

* The Olduvai cliff will begin and permanent blackouts will occur worldwide, according to "The Peak of World Oil Production and the Road To The Olduvai Gorge" by Richard C. Duncan.

* Terence McKenna's Novelty Theory claims that time is a fractal wave of increasing novelty that goes exponential in 2012.

* December 21 - End of the great cycle of the Maya calendar's Long Count and a 26,000 year planetary cycle in the Aztec calendar, and thus the end of this Baktun (the end of the cycle is dated December 22 or December 23 by some calculations).

* According to the 1997 book The Bible Code a meteor, asteroid or comet will collide with the Earth. Some believe this means the world will end. This event was supposedly prophesized by John the Evangelist as Wormwood in the Book of Revelation.

* Tibetan Monks specialising in remote viewing predict that divine extra-terrestrials will intervene at a point where the world's governments are about to deploy weapons of mass destruction. Adding to this, the Tibetan Monks say that the world is not ready to be destroyed and that our Earth is blessed and being saved continuously from all kinds of hazards of which mankind is not even aware.[4]

* The Prophecy of the Popes, attributed to Saint Malachy, speculated that Pope Benedict XVI would reign during the beginning of the tribulation which Jesus spoke of, and sometime later a future pope described in the prophecy as "Peter the Roman", the last in this prophetic list, would appear, bringing as a result the destruction of the city of Rome and the Last Judgement. [5]. It is possible that Benedict XVI and Peter the Roman are the same person, according to some interpretations. [6]

* Charismatic Korean religious leader Sun Myung Moon is talking extensively about the End of Restoration in 2012, and beginning of a New Sinless Time for Mankind. [7][8]

* Some postulate that a Galactic SuperWave (A galactic superwave is a large quantity of gamma rays which are released at somewhat regular intervals from a Pulsar) will strike the Earth around the 2012 time frame, as discussed by Dr. Paul LaViolette. Also see Dr. Paul LaViolette bio, and Insight

What really interests me - is the Tibetan Monk's "remote viewing".

But really what set off the entire 2012 theories, is the Mayan Calendar ending. Why does it just "stop" on December 21st, 2012? A new "beginning" being described.

(I apologize if I have put this in the wrong forum. I thought between this, and UFO/Alien board).

There's a thousand threads on this. Please use search next time. original.gif

Now that that's out of the way....
I don't think anything is going to happen. Anything out of the ordinary, that is.

I will be 51 years old and have 307,891 posts and people will still post threads about the end of the world. Over and over and over..........
Ender's Game
Yeah, sorry - I figured there are. But there probably is a topic on every known mystery already.

I also found a word document I summarized from what I found - linking 2012 - Roswell, and posted it here in Alien/UFO board. Take a look at it. Pretty amazing.
Ender's Game
Aw, come on - this isn't what I expected. On a site talking about Aliens traveling lightyears away in a blink of an eye through worm holes - You can't say "Well, those are alot of coincidences" or "That is a bit strange about the Mayan Calendar ending there"

Who said about the End of the World? I didn't - A few of those topics say that - such as gamma rays, and black outs, and the typical asteroid scenario, but there are other suggestions/theories.

The fourth thread about 2012 I`m posting in...

Anyway, one question: New scientific reaserch shows that Jesus was born in, 6 b.c, 2006+6=2012, so... is it possible that the end of the world is happening before chritmas ?

All calendars have to end sometime. The current western calendar ends on 31st December 2006 - whereupon a new one starts wink2.gif

Likewise with the Mayan Long Count - it ends and a new one starts up.

The real question is why did it start in 3114BC? With most calendars it's the start date that is usually the significant date, not the end date...

What's gonna happen? Well lots of people will stock up on canned goods and batteries and those nifty blankets and stuff, maybe even build a safe room and lock themselves up...and the world will go on. Just as it did on New Years Eve 1999.

Welcome Ender's Game to the UM Forum.

2012 will be about like any of the year....perhaps a little better or maybe a littl worse, but life and time will go on for us as it has for thousands of years.

P.S. From your screen name I assume you got it from the book "Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card?
thumbsup.gif A good read!

In 2012, I shall look back on 2006 and wonder how could I have wasted my life like this. Then I shall cry for two hours.

2012, it's the time for the cosmic party to begin.

Can't wait for 2012. Personally, I don't think it will be the end of the world. People have always, and will always say it is the end of the world.
The Mayan calendar is not relating to that, 2012 is viewed as a shift in human consciousness, not "fire and brimstone", etc.
