Ive had a weird thing like that, paintballing, everything.. everyone stoped fireing screaming.. 30 minutes befor the 9/11 thing. odd..

Yes, I've experienced this. It's rather eerie when it happens. Especially if it's really obvious. I think it's just one of those things, lol.

For that story to be true, you would have had to have been playing paintball at around 5:30 AM, given your timezone.

Yes i have exsperienced this before, its rather creepy
yup, i've had this happen before, i was sitting with a group of friends, i turned to my best pal matt, and said, "matt, in the months following your moms divorce, her and i have....gotten really close...to phrase it gently" the resulting silence lasted for...five minutes easy.... 
seriously though, didn't hear about a link between that and ghosts though...i always attributed it to a lack of conversation topics.
