If the "Titanic" didn't sink. That what's the ship we always see on tv?

The Titanic did sink. Even the suvivors said it went underwater. -_-; And it's slowly disappearing.

Aren't their expeditions that go to the sunken Titanic?

It did indeed sink...people died. The question is wether or not it sinked for the reasons we think it did...or if it even matters.

Wow! Great read, gang! Honestly, neither my hubby nor I had ever heard of this conspiracy. It's really got me to wanting to look up more info on it. If it was actually a way for White Star to collect insurance money, that is cold-hearted to send so many to a watery grave. angry.gif

Birmingham, thank you for your insight on the sinking of the ship. I haven't spent time around ships, but I do know about larger vessels...semis & the like. You're right! Many times when trouble is first spotted, it's already too late. It sems like all you can do is try to avoid it & hope for the best. innocent.gif Add in all the factors like it being basically pitch black out, iceburgs hide their real dangers (since the majority of it is underwater) & all the rest. I think people here sometimes forget that if/since the iceburg wasn't visible that it could be equated to a deer jumping out in front of your car or driving around a corner & there being a cow in the road. What are you going to do? Sure, you may miss it...but chances are you won't. disgust.gif Remember, the bigger the vessel the more time it takes to slow/stop or change direction.

Does anyone know if the Lloyds syndicates & any other insurers kept investigating or did they just wash their hands of it? Perhaps, you'd know Birmingham? I personally think though that if there were such a conspiracy, the insurers would not have paid out & there would have been an ongoing investigation. Thanks in advance for any info & a great topic! thumbsup.gif

While I have no doubt that the executives of companies do make decisions which may not be conducive to customers of the company, would any executive - wanting to 'dispose' of a ship - send it on a voyage knowing it was to be sunk (for insurance purposes) and yet sail this ship full of crew and passengers!

Ok, they might think the plan is quite a good one but let's be honest, even the hardest-nosed exec today would not possibly condone such a plan - would they?

The thought of such a conspiracy suggests that the White Star Line execs not only wanted to pull an insurance scam, they committed premeditated murder. No one who is familiar with large ship sinkings would consider any such plan guaranteed to mean all crew and passengers survive.

While it may be naive I cannot imagine any board would commit to such a plan. If it was a singular person (was the White Star Line public or private?) then possibly - just possibly. But how many others would have to be complicit to this plan?

Exactly it makes no sense to kill 1000's of people - they would have got the insurance payout regardless if anyone died.

So the questions would be
1) if it was an insurance scam why not sink it when it was empty of passengers doing trials or something?
2) If they knew this was going ot happen surely they would have supplied enough lifeboats on board?
3) If it was pre-meditated would they have not supplied a rescue ship to shadow the Titanic and pick up all the survivors?
