Wow! Great read, gang! Honestly, neither my hubby nor I had ever heard of this conspiracy. It's really got me to wanting to look up more info on it. If it was actually a way for White Star to collect insurance money, that is cold-hearted to send so many to a watery grave.

Birmingham, thank you for your insight on the sinking of the ship. I haven't spent time around ships, but I do know about larger vessels...semis & the like. You're right! Many times when trouble is first spotted,
it's already too late. It sems like all you can do is try to avoid it & hope for the best.

Add in all the factors like it being basically pitch black out, iceburgs hide their real dangers (since the majority of it is underwater) & all the rest. I think people here sometimes forget that if/since the iceburg wasn't visible that it could be equated to a deer jumping out in front of your car or driving around a corner & there being a cow in the road. What are you going to do? Sure, you may miss it...but chances are you won't.

Remember, the bigger the vessel the more time it takes to slow/stop or change direction.
Does anyone know if the Lloyds syndicates & any other insurers kept investigating or did they just wash their hands of it? Perhaps, you'd know Birmingham? I personally think though that if there were such a conspiracy, the insurers would not have paid out & there would have been an ongoing investigation. Thanks in advance for any info & a great topic!
