After watching a program called chasing God, i thought i would start a topic on who God is really. I just want people's views on who they believe God is or are there many Gods. The program showed religous people, but also including an atheist. The atheist didn't believe in God because he said once when is was a kid about 8 years old he tried talking to God with prayer and nothing happened his prayers were never answered, and then at the age of 61 he was an atheist.

In the program the other people who were religous claimed, they had an experience(s) of things like God speaking to them, visions of light, prophet mohamed, krishna etc. All of the religous elites agreed that there was one God, who simply went by many different names even the Hindu said there is one God. I also found something interesting which was that most of the religous people said that God will come and destroy the bad era and new good era will begin.

I personally think i doesn't matter too much which religon you are, a long as you live peacefully. I also think that Believing in God is not important because i dont think God is really a being or a Consciousness because if He/She was that then God would be just like us except He/She could rule us, which would not be fair. i persoally think God is more like a cosmic entity not a consciousness, so that iswhy i think believing in God is not important, it's more how you live your own life. So i just think that Jesus Krishna etc may have been normal people but they may have claimed that they are son of God or whatever, so that people would have a reason to live peacefully.

Why do people think Jesus came in the name of peace? He said a few times that he didnt.

What about this also.....

Luke 22
36) Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
37) For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.
38) And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.

Jesus is telling his Disciples to arm themselves!

Clearly 'god' the generic term used by many menas many things, i see no such diety personally anymore then there is really a tooth fairy or a easter bunny.or a stork... If i was to give meaning to the word i would call it life, beyond that its just personal perspective, why some beleive and some don't I have yet to understand......
Harpie Lady
I believe in god and that jesus is his son. He came here as a sacrife so that through him we would beleive that there is a better place and that hopefully by living a descent life we can get into heaven.... although living a descent a life isnt enough the key thing is to have faith and really believe with all our hearts......................

You're so right about that! Here's a refreshing view to all this check it out.

Words are tools to express ideas.
The idea is that a force for good and for justice exits outside of the daily material world of man.
The group consciousness seems to be in agreement on many things they allocate to either being good or being evil. This possibly universal consiousness also seems to be in agreement that good should be rewarded and evil should be punished and forced to change to a form acceptable to the group.
The very fabric and makeup of the universe is possibly a product of this consciousness.

The ancients may seem very backwards and illogical to us in many ways, but some things remain the same even over thousands of years in what this species considers good or evil.

An individual may decide there is no God and there is no justice. They may rape, murder, and steal all they wish without fear of any punishment or retribution. They may decide they can invent their own moral code and morality if they wish and if there is an afterlife then this is what they will be judged by if they are judged at all. They may think all beings from Captain Kangaroo to Joseph Stalin could expect identical experiences if an afterlife exists.

I myself personally think that they will be unpleasently surprised. Whether explained through modern science or by ancient words of belief, I think the afterlife order of existence will demand both justice and reward exist in some form.

Morals from the Bible?

I think it would be better if we did not.

I did not mention the bible once, nor did I mention that anyone should follow any specific religious moral code that exists. There is nothing on my desciption or signiture that identifies me as a Christian.

This is just more of your Christian hating and Christian bashing. I posted something connected to spiritual beliefs and it was automatic that it was time to bash and smash the bad Christian. I was on topic on addressing the God concept and referred to a universal consiousness, not the bible or my belief in the God of the bible.

And now do not jump to the old pretence that you were addressing the topic starter when you used part of my post in a quote.

You inferred that one must believe in a God to have morals.....I was just showing you that one does not need a God to have good morals.

No. I inferred nothing of the kind.
There is not a single thing in my post even remotely like that.
Not in any stretch of the imagination did I state or infer than one had to believe in God to have a moral code.
In fact the only mention of morality in my post was in reference to an individual inventing a code of their own.

It is your own sick intolerance and hate making you see things that are not there to justify your endless harrasement and abuse of Christians at every opportunity when you know who one is that is posting something.

Stop it. Stop harrasing me on this forum. Now.

If you want to know about God read the bible. All you need to know is in there.
