The Shroud of Turin is fake. Compare it to a true (?) archeological artifact, found at Troy by Heinrich Schliemann, which he called
The Mask of Agamemnon. In this death mask, the gold was placed over the face of the deceased (whether or not it really was Agamemnon is not important, as is the current questionable authenticity of Schliemann's find (
Schliemann-a hoaxer?)), and 'molded' to the face, and then flattened out. That's why the face looks sort of distorted. The Shroud face, however, looks like a painting. If it had really been wrapped around a human head, the ears would be visible, and placed farther from the nose, and the entire face itself would look wider. Try wrapping a napkin or towel around your face, and keep hold of where your ears are, then lay the towel flat. Notice how far apart your hands are (indicating where your ears touched the fabric). The Shroud just looks like a painting. It's a fake, a very good one, but obviously a fake.
