Since I'm going away to college in a few months, I want a new computer to take with me. I'm tired of Dells, and I have visited sites such as Voodoo and Falcon Northwest. Can someone please recommend me some sites that build good quality, fast, reliable, and kickass computers on a budget. Any help will be much appreciated.

Do what I do.... buy the pieces you want and put it together.... I find it's the most cost effective if you have the know how (or a really good manuel).

yeah I'd suggest the same thing, building your own machene will let you know what's actually in your comp - like the video card, motherboards ect ect.
plus it will feel like your own and not someone elses.
plus, if you're on a budget, visit ebuyer.com as it sells cheaper parts.

Yeah, build your own...companies like Falcon Northwest and Voodoo charge crazy prices for components which aren't even necessary yet...like 4 GB of RAM? What game needs that much?

For college Id recommend a laptop.... but since yer on a budget and want something "kickass" then I would build one too if I where you, but as far as usability for school.... laptop

I got my computer Refurbished thru www.hpshopping.com I bought mine back in Oct. for about 320. and it comes with the dual CD/DVD burners/ 512 mb/video cards,Windows XP and all that great stuff. HP is definetly the way to go especially for the price we paid. Plus it also came with Lightscribe which is great for imagry if you've always wanted your own images on disc you burn.

if you are up to the tech challenge, then build your own... find a high end system that fills your needs, jot down the systems specifics, get the same parts and assemble...

I'd say build your own. Unless of course you have about $3,000 sitting around to buy an alienware

DO NOT buy an HP.... once one thing goes in the machine it all goes and you can't customize worth crap.... and I know....my first comp was an HP....what a mistake that was....

My laptop fell off the truck. It was a good deal since I'm a student.

A good site for some pretty cheap computers is unitedmicro, a teacher of mine ordered two from them. They are both 64 bit and only cost 600....I don't know what kind of computer you are looking for, but it wouldn't hurt to check them out.
