Daring Souls

I recently got a PM from someone registered here asking me two questions.
The first question made me pause and wonder. It was me being asked if I could remove my avatar because the person (making the request) was upset or offended by it. Now, normally, I'd be short or disregard a question of this nature...but I really want to make a few friends here, so I referred the questioner to contact Gareth with the question.
Curious to know actually how "offensive" my avatar is, really. So if you'd share your opinion I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
The second question asked of me if I was as old (as I guess) I am?

"Old?"
"Me?"

NO WAY!

...anyway, I just thought I'd share this with you all. I've kept the quetion asker confidential until I get more of a reply from that person. I wouldn't disclose a name anyway. I'm not that way...but I am curious as to motivation. Some places still want to burn witches.

It's a bit like the difference between a picture of the Deli Lama and Mother Tereasa isn't it ? I don't find it the least bit offensive.

maybe there is something wrong with the star that you have on .. It reminds me of something .. but I won't name it anyway ..

There is a symbol with such a star inside a circle, that I believe is an "evil" symbol, and that might be what the question asker was meaning by offensive, but thatīs just what I believe.
I donīt find it offensive at all. I think itīs cool.

Really now darkstar!

I could find a 100 ways to make your avatar remind me of nightmarish things i've dreamed or seen. It's not the most positive avatar here.
I'm sorry your Hamstar was killed but you can't blame daring souls for that, especially if his intrests don't mean to offend you or anyone purposely. There are a lot of POSITIVE pentagrams out there that have no attachment to satanists. So... i'd leave this one alone and let daringsouls use his avatar freely without prejudice.

DarkStar,
At the tender age of 14, life can be really ruff.... really ruff.
I feel the more you confront your fears, the faster they will "poof."
Daring Souls? Don't change a thing........ especially YOU.

i agree with that too.
i know this is hard at the beginning but there are tonnes of other matters ought to trouble you again in the future.do you take everyone of them so painfully?
i'm sorry but your hamster's dead and although it shouldn't be forgotten, never let that stuff haunt you again.screw those dumbies who killed it,just think that they're suffering from thier deeds now and forget about it.i bet you can do it

Well...
my star avatar is not that belonging or having any affiliation with the dark arts. So Dark Star, have no fear of satanism from my direction.
I'm sorry to hear that you're still feeling the loss of your pet hamster. You state you were 7yrs old at the time...and certainly, that was a long time ago, wasn't it?
I'd kind of like you to face it. Fear comes in small tiny packages that can sit within a soul and only be glanced upon during times of a life
if that person chooses not to open that fear up and air it.
I think you've taken a strong first step. And, yes, I initially thought you were pulling my leg.
Sorry to hear that you had such an ugly experience. I hope you'll forgive me if I ask you to not look in the direction of my avatar when I post. That is, if you can't let the fear go...
Your pal,
Daring

And what exactly is wrong with your Avatar???? Personally I don't see anything wrong with it....
But that won't suprise most regulars that are on here.
As for age..... If you can respond here as you have done with maturity and common sense, then who cares???

I'm assuming it was someone of a Christian persuasion that was offended by the pentagram? Well I am a Christian, a mature Christian, and I am not offended by your avatar at all. Christians tend to suffer from a lack of knowledge when it comes to things that they are told are occultic and therefore must be evil. If the pentagram was a symbol of evil then self-proclaimed Satanists wouldn't use an inverted pentagram now would they? No, they'd simply use the pentagram as their symbol.

Why is a pentagram so offensive? Does anybody know any facts as to why they are associated with satanism? I watched a video on Carl Sagan once, and I wonder if this pentagram really has something to do with the unknown (physics)

Your avatar should reflect something about yourself, so if it's something you like, I say leave it. Me, I like smiley faces and I'm too lazy to change it to something else. That, and I can't find a picture of a bum I really like.

well daring souls,
Your pentagram does not offend me. I was working with someone once, and she wore a pentagram. She got in trouble. People were talking about her being a devil worshipper, and they even accused of trying to convert her students. No one ever even asked her why she was wearing it. At least dark star, is taking the time to respond and read your thread. No one was opened minded enough at work to give her a chance. I didn't look at that website, but one of my friends told me it has to do with the ways it is turned to represent the face of ram. If you turn your pentagram a few degrees, 2 of the points could be horns, one point could be the chin.
One of my classmates in college, told me she was christian, but she liked the pentagram, because she found the crucifx offensive. It seemed strange to her to pray to an image of a man nailed and bleeding on a cross.

Exactly. Therefore, I think the matter of my avavatar is simply one of fear and unknowing. Thanks!

Your co-worker may not have been able to help herself. Some people are naturally drawn to the elemental side of life. Just as some people perceive ghosts and spirits more than others.
The matter at hand was/is fear and unknowing the difference between good Witchcraft and evil.
Christianity doesn't figure into this, far as I'm concerned. It isn't one faith against another. EVERYTHING is star connected. It was a star that foretold the birth of baby Jesus and allowed and helped the three Kings to find Him.
My vavatar will remain until I've gotten an itch to change it.
