I can't say I've ever given it much contemplation. But when I first saw this I had the same thought as DP

i don't know... i've kind of always found peace in the thought of resting in a quiet grave under a big old oak tree. that compared to the idea of people slicing into me and then throwing me away when they're done... well... i like the first idea better.
i wouldn't mind donating organs or anything, though. i guess it doesn't exactly matter to begin with, but i still want something for people to remember me by- like a tombstone. even if everyone forgets about me, that tombstone will still be there, keeping me as a memory of the earth, at least.
i'm sure that made no sense... oh well.

QUOTE
Desperate need for more donors
There is a desperate need for more donors. Last year more than 400 people died while waiting for a transplant. One in ten people waiting for a heart transplant will die and many others will lose their lives before they even get on to the waiting list.
The more people who pledge to donate their organs after their death, the more people stand to benefit. By choosing to join the NHS Organ Donor Register you could help make sure life goes on.

I would. I will have no use for this body when I die so if someone can make good use of it go ahead. I'm already a registered organ donor.
My father, who died in October, asked to leave his body for medical scoence. My sister was not happy with the idea as she is a bit squimish when it comes to the idea of dead bodies being cut up. I, on the other hand, thought we should follow his wishes. As it happened his body was not accepted because he died of cancer. We both felt relieved, we had followed his wishes by offering his body but it wasn't cut up.

I'm donating mine. I don't need it anymore and really don't want my family to pay the high costs of funerals. Cremation?? Well, that costs money too. I just think it is silly to have to pay so much when you lose a loved one. I just don't want my family to spend the money so I can rot in the ground. Plus, I would like some use for it, so why not science? Like I said before, I don't need it anymore.
My husband keeps saying he is going to stuff me and put me on the couch.

They tend to suffocate their pray first, by gripping the throat in their jaws. Not the way I'd choose to go, but each to their own.
I wouldn't object to my body being used to feed an endangered species but I'd like to have died peacefully of natural causes first. Also I want to be over the age of 96 so hopefuly it will be another 56 years yet.
