This isnt my experience, but it is the account my mom's. So keep in mind that the story might be a little distorted, I will try to keep the story accurate. Im not going to be completely a skeptic or believer in this story, because I havnt experienced this happenning myself. This happend yesterday.

It was Easter Sunday, about 2:30 AM in the morning. My mother wakes up, for no apparent reason at all; she just feels like waking up. She looks at the bedroom door, above the bedroom door is the smoke alarm. The smoke alarm emits a dim green light, and the bedroom door is left ajar. Outside of the bedroom door is the hallway, which we have a little night light on. As my mother stares at the bedroom door, she begins to hear a noise, foot steps on our carpet floor. At first she assumes it was me, going to the bathroom. Then suddenly she notices that the light comming from the hall way goes totally black. Then the light coming from the smoke detector goes completely black as well, like a great shadow. She begins to panic, and she feels the pressure of something heavy on her chest. Everything goes black, then she feels something wrapping their hands around her neck. My mother, a god-fearing and supersitious woman, closes her eyes and begins to pray. She then opens her eyes and everything is back to normal, the pressure and choking sensation is gone. She stares at her bedroom door, everything was back to normal and she begins to calm down. She hears footsteps again, this time it is going to my room. Fortunately for me, I was soundly asleep. My mother heard noises, like the tearing of paper and again she heard the footsteps. Everything went black again and the sensations returned. This time my mother prayed for a longer time, making her prayers more than before urgent. This time it went away for good, and she went back to sleep a few minutes later. Next morning, when I was awake, she goes to me and complains to me, that I should stop listening to a certain type of music. I asked her why, and she tells me the story.

Here are some factors, in a skeptical view, that may caused some of these events or experiences:
-My mother was on pain killers, a strong one, perhaps it caused hallucinagens?
-Sleep paralysis may of caused the pressure and choking sensations?
-There are some paper towels on the ground, out infront of the bedroom door, we thought our cat would spit out her hair ball there. Are cat is really active at night, and when she runs across the paper towels, it creats a tearing noise. She has a bell on her collar, so my mom would of heard it.

Here are some factors, in a superstitious view, that may of caused some of these events or experiences:
-My dad is in the hospital, recovering from a back surgery. My mom had been visiting him everyday, perhaps the spirits followed her home?
-The music I listen to, lets just say it isnt that popular with god-loving persons.
Here are some bands I listen to: Opeth, Emperor, Mayhem. Emperor and Mayhem have some Satanic lyrics, and my mom believes that by listening to these bands, she thinks its worshipping and inviting Satand and dark forces. Is it that really possible?
-I have been going through some personal turmoil, perhaps my emotions are manifesting itself into a form? Or its inviting forces of the uknown?
-The 'shadow' never came to my room, is it because I have a bible on my nightsand?

It would really appreciated if anyone can give some feedback asap. Thank you.

she got a visit from the old hag? I think that's the folklore term for the occurence, I'm sure there's a better modern one. This is almost always accounted for as sleep paralysis I believe, so from a non-believers point of view it's nothing special. If it's negative emotions manifesting you really should chill out with the music. Death metals exciting and all, but just consider the maxim "you are what you eat". I'd be surprised if it's you that's causing it per se, unless you're having major issues and venting on some level against your mom (meaning she would have to be on your list of "issues"). I don't know what to say if this is in the demon/spirit realm. It doesn't sound atypical or uncommon, but aside from a mildly similiar, though entirely benign, experience I've had I know quite little about their behavior etc.

Thanks for the feed back! Do you think the pain killers would hagve a roll in this?

what pain killers were they? The one question I have is how a pain killer would create a given effect over the course of a relatively short period of time. She woke up so maybe she'd been in "this" state" for a little while, but why would it suddenly end. Not impossible, but I'd like to know what ones they were exactly.

I am a pharmacy tech, not knowing the name of the medication it would be hard to say. I think it is highly unlikely that the meds would cause such feelings. I too would hold off on the music though. I wouldn't doubt that she saw what she saw and felt what she felt. I have heard of this happening to people while living in areas which are "haunted" not to scare you or anything. It could also be her mind playing tricks on her. Again I am pretty sure it's not the meds.
