Manual?

I read the manual. It's part of my ritual when buying a game. I'll go to the shop, buy it, get home and sit there for half an hour or an hour just reading the manual. It heightens the excitement for when I actually start to play.

I don't really care what I'm reading, the controls are generally fairly standard across most games, and I custom them anyway to suit me. It's just part of the excitement of a new game, I think.

I rarely read manuals. However, I do hate long, drawn-out tutorials durring the course of the game. I can usually figure out things without tutorials or manuals. Except for SquareEnix games, that is.
Raptor
Only if there's something I specifically want to find out, otherwise I just get on with the game.

Me too. I just have to familiar with the controls before I can really have fun.

Nope. It's the little booklet inside tongue.gif What? There's a CD inside? WTF was mine?

I read them because it's fun. Storyline and characters, ect. Don't look at controls or anything.
Boff
I might read it while the game is installing.

Or for consoles, sometimes to get the controls down.
AztecInca
I generally just read the manual for the storyline and character information. I may have a quick look at the controls though for games where the control system is a bit different to usual.

Same. Its just sooo much fun reading the manual whilst the game's installing: whets your appetite to actually play it grin2.gif The only problem is if youre all excited to play it from reading all the cool stuff you can do in it from the manual and have spent the past hour installing the game and its x-pak only to find it doesnt work.

I hate Age Of Mythology happy.gif
rossyair1
ill usually skim through them for bout 5 minutes seeing if theres anything i need to know
Euphoric Deception
Mmm.. freshly bought smell of a gaming manual. *sniff*
Talon
I'll read the introduction part which tells the story or character background, but I wouldn't read about the controls until well into the game.
Bigfoot_Is_Real
I only read them for hidden secrets such as cheat codes and easter eggs

i like surprises so i don't read it for controls

I do/did.. I dont buy many for me anymore. I buy heaps of PS2 games for my son though who is only 4yrs old.. Ive found that because he loves the games so much it has given him the want to read the manuals himself. So anotherwords those manuals and the backs of my music CD's have taugh him to read because he actually wants to know to info. Its very cool because the first thing he does now when I buy a game is read the manual on the way home in the car. So those manuals are boss for little kids hey! thumbsup.gif And for me when I need to know a special combo move or something.. to teach Adam..

I don't read them right away when I buy the game because I like to figure out the controls and everything on my own. When I run into a problem though, or don't understand something, then yeah I take a quick look in the manual. yes.gif
