When I was 8 years old I awoke in the middle of the night screaming. My father came and got me and attempted to calm me down. I yelled that I was being buried alive. I remember seeing up through the dirt and seeing parallel lines coming through the dirt. Pop got me up and walked me around the house. I was terrified and sweating. I tried to show him the huge piles of dirt in the living room but he showed me they were just pieces of furniture. After awhile I calmed down and he took me back to bed. I remember it like it was yesterday. It was the only time in my life that I felt pure panic. It was 1966.

Fast-forward 40 years or so…I was watching a documentary on the History Channel which covered the Aberfan school mudslide disaster in Wales of 1966. At 9:15 in the morning of a Friday an enormous heap of coal mine slag (dirt, shale, rubble) broke free and slid down a steep hillside, burying houses and an elementary school. 144 people were killed including 116 children, most between the ages of 7 and 10 years old. As I watched I got chills. Then a picture was shown of the aftermath at the school, buried, and with many telephone poles sticking down through the pile, roughly parallel to each other. I remember thinking ‘oh my God…that’s what the dream was’.

According to websites the Aberfan disaster produced more reports of psychic phenomenon than any other in the U.K. at that time.

I felt odd about it but did mention it to some friends at work. I mentioned that maybe I had dreamt of it because my father was ˝ Welsh, or that I was from a coal mining area. Then I noticed that one of my co-workers was kind of starring into space (she also was about my age – an African American lady)…she said she remembered as a child waking up in the night and yelling to her grandmother (who she lived with in Kansas City) that the kitchen downstairs was filling up with mud.

I don’t believe I am psychic. I haven’t had any other experiences like this and am not prone to nightmares or anything. I do believe that this is proof that there is a psychic force in the world, however, and that if the signal is strong enough many can receive it through dreams.

I still get the chills just writing about this but upon finding this website I thought I would document this and see if any others remember having a dream like this.

Note: (9:15am Wales time would have been the middle of the night where I grew up in Illinos, USA).

I can't say that I've had any experience like that, or something even remotely like that, however, your case is pretty interesting.

I do believe it's possible to recieve dreams like that, but there's a long way until we truly uncover the secrets to our mind.

sounds amazing...

Interestingly I was watching TV Saturday early pm and came across some sort of an "Unexplained Mysteries" show on Discovery or H. channel. Anyway, their was a segment about a young boy who had a dream about his father in Viet Nam. He was suddenly in a hole with his Dad in the middle of a firefight. The next morning he was afraid to say anything to his Mom but when he got to school he told a teacher that his father had been killed in battle. The teacher told the principal and his Mom was called to school where she advised them that he must've had a dream or something, but since he continued to maintain that he knew his father had been killed - she took him home for the rest of the day. That Saturday morning the uniformed officers arrived at their house to give the bad news.

An interesting twist was that he had dreamed of a gun battle/firefight but the officers said that his father's truck hit a landmine and he was killed instantly. Later, when they requested the death certificate they looked in the "cause of death" block and it said "gunshot wound to the head".

It's a very interesting episode of this show, and is worth watching when it's re-runned. It seemed very similar to the experience I had (although his was considerably more traumatic since he knew it was his father)

thumbsup.gif Very interesting story. The sleep is still unknown matter, is it just pictures, things from the past or future, or the real truth. No one knows. thumbsup.gif

Wow i liked that story but man a dream that real would have screwed up my life if i was 8 when it happened. I think we still have a lot to learn about dreams, and ur ˝ Welsh so maybe some of your family was in the mud slide.

Did you remember if the date of the nightmare coincided with the incident? Did that other child had the dream on the same date?

Sounds like an interesting coincidence but like funi said you never know. Thanks for sharing thumbsup.gif

Oooops - as a new poster i messed up the reply...

No way that I could trace the date of the dream. I grew up in a town of 3900 people in the boondocks in Southern Illinois. My parents are since deceased but i seriously doubt that they would have remembered anything more than me having a real bad dream. So I can't prove that anything happened - but that's OK because I know it did.

Our local newspaper basically only covered stuff like the local town council or high school sports - very little international news except occasional news of the Vietnam war. I didn't pay any attenton to the news anyway at that age.

Therefore, I can't say whether it was a premonition dream - but my gut instinct is that it was a "shared experience" psychic dream (which would seem to be the same as the other instance from the child who lost his father).

I've often wondered about the "why" of the dream. As an 8 year old on another continent I didn't even know Aberfan existed. If it was a premonition, there would be nothing I could do to prevent it.

That leads me to believe that the psychic communication was more a result of the strength of the sender(s) of the message than any out-of-the-ordinary psychic ability on my part. My best subject in school was Math, I've spent most of my working career in the military, and I would consider myself an agnostic. Not a typical "spiritual" person. That also leads me to believe that everybody probably has some psychic ability but most of us keep it buried under layers of "reality" that we accumulate as we grow older.
