Hey there,

anybody who would go with the theory that transferring human Dna into a spore (like from a mushroom) would make it possible to send it out to other planets? Spores are highly resistant against heat, cold, pressure and start to develop under very simple conditions. And additional to this they spread like sh*t...

we'd send mushroom people into space? blink.gif
i doubt the feasability of this. just the required 9 months gestation of an embryo takes massive amounts of nutrients and of corse, a blood supply. Not to mention the attention and care it takes to raise a human child. Half mushroom or not.

Where did you get an idea like this?

There was a book called "Thinkin on the edge of the unthinkeable" where the came to the idea of building a huge spore with people inside. But leaving this i just thought of a mixture lifeform mushroom with human infomaterial...

It seems to me that perhaps sending a message of our dna code would be more feasable, we have already done this a couple times with satellites, and radio. Any advanced being would at least be able to reconstruct what a human looks like, and be able to study the genetics. Possibly more advanced beings could in theory reconstruct a human, but thats science fiction.

i think overcoming distance problems, and actually sending humans into deep space or other worlds will one day come. probably not in our lifetimes, but with the way we're treating the planet it may become a necessity

yeah, the only problem is the deep space exploration... the distance problem

This seems very unlikely... like how would we do it.

Oh but on a funnier note the ad at the bottom of the page(for me at least) was
"How to grow your own mushrooms" lol

It would be very simple to contaminate other planets with bacterium from Earth, infact we probably already have; with sending out landers.

Unless the intense heat of the entry and leaving of atmospheres kills them all.
