Man glues hands, mouths of hostages


Los Angeles - A Southern California man took two men hostage at gunpoint, stripped them naked, bound their hands together with super glue and poured glue into their mouths, police said on Friday.

Rene Avila, 36, was arrested early on Friday after releasing his hostages during the night. They were treated at the scene and released.

The motive behind the bizarre incident was unclear but police speculate a possible relationship among the three may have triggered Avila's behaviour.

"There was some kind of dispute there and he put super glue in their mouths before calling his sister," Los Angeles police LT. Ernest Eskridge said. "We don't know if that was his cry for help."

Back in the day....I did try Elmer's Glue...but super-glue....yuck.....

What a dumbass. If it was me, I would've used good ol' duck tape. Not superglue like an idiot would use.

How did they unglue their hands and mouths? Is there something that will loosen it up? The only thing I remember seeing was paint thinner in American Pie 2.

Warm water should do the trick with superglue. Or am I thinking about regular glue?

I would of put superglue in their eyes and noses as well. But that just me.

I think that's regular glue. I think nail varnish remover works with super glue but you don't want that stuff in your eyes or mouth. I accidentally super glued my fingers together when I was younger and they used nail varnish remover and it worked.

If they were taken to the ER, surgery could get rid of the superglue, but it says they were treated at the scene. EMT tricks, i gues.

I bet EMT's carry around super glue solvent because I'm sure I'm not the only idiot in the world who has glued their fingers together.

Super glue the lips. Very sensitive skin, you'd be in pain when the medics would try and unglue them.

Why would it have killed them? They could still breathe out their noses.
