just a little fun thing

i would like to see the following games made into movies

Hitman of course!!!!! already "in the works" with Vin diseal as hitman but I would have gone with someone more darker. I am afraid this might be turned into a xxx type filp or like mission impossiable when really the game is really dark.

Metal Gear solid. If i had to chose i would base the movie on the third installment. But if there was a movie made i think they would make a whole new story line for it. But if they did do the third installment I would love Christian Bale as Snake he has the look about him. or Hugh Jackman. maybe naomi watts (king kong) or that charlize lady as EVA. I dont know who would play the rest.

Rampage i dont know if any of you remember this game it was on Sony and just came out on PS2 but that would be a fun movie

grand theft Auto but i dont think it would be allowed or the fim makers would crap it up really bad. But hey imagine it JayZ, 50 cent and Jamie foxx as part of CJS gang awesome

Splinter Cell with george clooney if he was younger

PyramidHead316
Hugh Jackman's a good choice for Snake. If he could adopt a decent British accent, he could also play Liquid Snake, if they set the movie in the MGS period.

How about Syphon Filter? I think that would make a great spy thriller.

Eternal Darkness might make a good horror movie, as long as they kept the right mood for it. It can't be an action type flick like the RE movies, even though there has to be some combat against the minions of the Ancients. The movie would have to retain that suspenseful edge of psychological horror in order to be successful. The actors also have to turn in serious performances. Eternal Darkness was inspired by the tone H.P. Lovecraft set for his books, so the mood has to be kept serious in order to make the Ancients and their schemes believable.
Shakezulah
I think The Suffering would make an awesome movie. It's scary and disturbing enough to be made into a quality horror/action flick.

Just a little note, he didn't write any books. He wrote short stories that were published in magazines, and books were only put together after his death.

Gran Turismo - I know it doesn't have a story, but we need good race movies like the old LeMans, Bullet, etc. As long as it would be serious and not The Fast and the Furious, I think I'd be a neat idea.

I'd also like SquareEnix to make a Final Fantasy VIII movie, like Advent Children.

mr. E
They should make a Half-Life movie. I think it could be pulled off fairly awesomely. I think Ed Norton could play the lead, just grow him a mustache and ghoatee, and slap some Buddy Holly glasses on him. he could play a smart, resourceful, but still likeable physicist out to save the world, smacking aliens with crowbars and such.

i would like to see prince of persia become a movie
BurnSide
Metal Gear Solid would be silly to make into a movie, since it IS a movie. All the games are made to be straight up cinematic masterpieces as they are, making a movie about them would be a waste.

Besides what's been done i can't name a whole lot of games i'd like to see as movies. I'd like to see Soul Calibur as an Anime movie perhaps, but wouldn't really care either way. Tony Hawk was technically made into a movie with Grind, if you subsitite Hawk for Jimmy. But here's one.

Devil May Cry. That would be sweet as hell.
Shakezulah
Devil May Cry was rumored to be a movie years ago. I guess they still can't find anyone good to do it.

Soul Calibur is already being made into a movie...a live action one....along with Dead or Alive, which I heard looks worse than MK: Annihilation.

Well, you're in luck. A movie version of the PoP Sands of Time series has already been announced, and Jerry Bruckheimer will be directing it. I love the games, as well, and I hope this will end up being good. We'll see in the coming months how this is going to turn out.

I should mention, though. I REALLY want to see a Max Payne movie. It's been confirmed for awhile, but they can't find any actors. It's just hanging up there right now. Imagine the potential for a movie of the series. It could end up being really damn good. On the other hand, it could end up being crap. Lets hope it's the former.

Boff
Half Life 1 or 2..

Only problem is, the main character never speaks tongue.gif. But it could work..

dont know who would play Gordon though.

Rumoured to have a director and begin filming in 07 according to a mag from 05 unsure.gif

Half life being thrown around??

Devil may cry will be awesome

I heard about a Metroid movie a while ago, but I think it would be a stupid idea at best.
There's really not much story in the series, and Samus rarely talks. Also, I can't imagine any actress playing Samus.
TheCrow
- Dead or Alive is in post-production, has Holly Valance, Jamie Pressly and Kevin Nash in it and is directed by Corey Yuen, who directed The Transporter. I beleive there is a teaser trailer out but I haven't seen it yet.

- Peter Berg, director of Friday Night Lights and The Rundown is directing Splinter Cell. Due for a 2007 release it is still in the scripting stages.

- Resident Evil: Extinction has gone into pre-production with a script written by Paul Anderson only this time round Russel Mulcahy (who directed Highlander and the TV mini Mysterious Island) is directing. The film sees Alice leading the survivors across the Nevada Dessert.

- The infamous (for all the wrong reasons) Uwe Boll is finishing off Dungeon Seige staring the likes of Jason Statham, Ron Perlman, Ray Liotta, Mathew Lilard and John Rhys-Davies and he also has the rights to do Postal and Far Cry.

- Action director John Woo has gone on a bit of a games binge too.. He is producing a Metroid movie (and rumoured to be directing it) and a Rainbow Six movie aswell as directing Spy Hunter staring the Rock. There is some concept art for this floating around the net somewhere.

- It has recently been rumoured that Silent Hill director Christophe Gans has been set to direct a film based on samurai game Onimushu.

- Alice based on the horror game 'American McGee's Alice' which in turn is based on Alice in Wonderland and sees Alice as a distrubed young woman return to Wonderland where things aren't quite like she remembers them, has Sarah Michelle Geller attached as the title character of Alice and music video director turned feature film director, Marcus Nispel, who directed the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake will direct.

- Halo is been produced by Peter Jackson with a first draft script complete which is apparently the ultimate sci-fi/war movie.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time has been anounced and will be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. No cast or director yet.

- Vin Diesel is gonna star as Agent 47 in Hitman.

- Tekken is in pre-production with director Charles Stone (Drumline) attached and no cast yet.

- Driver having once been attached to Paul Anderson has now switched hands and has been written and will be directed by Roger Avary.

- Max Payne has been announced for a while now and is currently in the scripting stages for a 2007 release.

Other game based movies announced, in production or rumoured include The Suffering, Soul Calibur, Pac-Man, Nightmare Creatures, Grand Theft Auto, God of War, The Getaway, Fatal Frame, Duke Nukem, Destroy All Humans, Diablo and Deus Ex.
TheCrow
I think there is serious potential in game to movie adaptations, they just need to be treated right. Studios think they can get a popular game and that alone will sell it and they don't have to put a lot of effort into it but I think that after Silent Hill and when Halo comes about (under Peter Jackson) this will change and make studios realise that there is money to be made from faithful adaptations. It's the same as what happened with comic book movies, it took one movie (Blade and/or X-Men depending on your viewpoint) for people/studios to take them seriously.

Anyway.. I have high hopes for the Prince of Persia movie. Metroid, Halo, Driver, Alice and Tekken could all turn out really cool. That's right I said Tekken. Fighting games don't have a great track record (Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, Double Dragon) but that's because they don't (or didn't because fighting games have started to incorprate storylines these days) have stories and the writers were made to come up with one. But Tekken could focus on Jin and his grandfather and if they kept the tournament feel to it, it could be ok.

What games would I like to see?

- Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (This could be Awesome!)
- Monkey Island (Zach Braff for Guybrush Threepwood and Tim Curry for Le Chuck)
- Broken Sword (Michael Shanks for George Stobbart)
- Dino Crisis (Jurrasic Park x10 lol)
- Veiwtiful Joe (Sean William Scott as Joe)
- XIII (Just get the actors who did the voice for the roles)
- Sonic the Hedgehog (animated and nothing like Sonic X! No humans, no cute sidekick friends. It should be like the intro to Sonic CD!)
- Starfox/Lylat Wars (animated)
- Super Mario Bros (animated by Pixar)
- Eternal Darkness (Keep the tone and general story of the game. The sanity system would be interesting to do on film.. I remember reading about the original version of Thirteen Ghosts and they had these special glases (similar to 3D) that the audience would wear that would allow you to see things in the film you couldn't see without them. They could do that with this film and just have random 'ghosts' and noises and stuff appear like in the game to simulate the sanity sytem)
SecondHeartbeat
i'd like to see condemned for 360 become a movie,or fable, don't know how they would turn that into a movie though
^SolidSnake^
I'd like to see Broken Sword being made into a movie I can imagine it being very similar to the Da Vinci Code as it revolves around the Templars. I'd like to see a Metal Gear Solid movie, but I think it would be better suited CGI and directed by Hideo Kojima because that way you'll know it will be good.
Tillghast
If they do Onimusha I will be in heaven. Greatest game series + Awesome director=JOY.

Both are in development. WOW will be a animated feature.
hitman has been picked up by 20th centuary fox and movie will possiably be based on silent assassin story line. Jet Li has been linked to Tekken.

got this article aboot Driver

Rogue Rides With Driver
Distributor picks up vid game pic.
by Stax

April 20, 2006 - Variety reports that Rogue Pictures has acquired nearly all worldwide film rights to Driver, Oscar-winning writer-director Roger Avary's big-screen adaptation of the Atari videogame. Rogue picked up Driver from Constantin Film and Impact Pictures, the forces behind the Resident Evil movies.

Avary is penning the script for Driver. He also scripted this weekend's much anticipated game-to-film adaptation, Silent Hill. Previous drafts were written by James DeMonaco, Todd Harthan and James Roday.

As the trade reminds us, Driver "centers on a getaway driver for hire, the best in the heist biz, who is put to the test on a job."

He's a german director who can't direct to save his life. He has no visual style, he copies from other films (ie. Matrix), his casting is crap (Tara Reid as a smart scientist type rolleyes.gif) and he has no sense of story telling or character development. He is dreadful.. Here, I shall paste a review of 'Alone in the Dark'.

QUOTE
The definition of an abomination as defined by Webster's Dictioary is "a cause of abhorrence or disgust." If someone can think of a more appropriate word or definition than this for Alone in the Dark, please let me know because this is the best I can come up with. However, I do no feel that in anyway this word describes how truly awful this film is.

I went to see this film with two of my roommates. One has very similar tastes to me, the other is an action/adventure flick guru. This latter guy usually doesn't care about the size of the plot holes, as long as the movie contains lots of explosions he will walk away satisfied.

That being said we entered the theater for the Friday viewing of Alone in the Dark. Little to my surprise we were the only people in the theater. When it started I knew why immediately.

It begins with the worst opening scene of any movie, and unfortunately I have to admit it only gets worse from there. The opening scene is a 5 minute scroll text that is narrated. Yet, I understand why it was narrated. The director must have understood that only illiterate people would even ascertain the thought of PAYING to see this movie. Yet, not only is this first scene the longest scroll text in the history of cinema, but it also makes no sense. It seems as if in the same sequence we are hearing about to completely separate movies. One is about an ancient civilization and its tampering with a portal, the other is about a crazy scientist and his experiments on orphans. If you are reading this and are confused, you are not alone.

Then the awful storyline, acting, effects, and camera work begin. Tara Reid is horrendous as an actress. She does nothing to even for one second make you think that she is a museum curator. Slater is just bad, not convincing, and has no chemistry with Reid.

The plot is probably the worst thing ever created by man. The entire time myself and the roommate with similar tastes are asking questions like: What is this? And what is going on? Other than this scrolling garbage we have a few narrated sequences by Slater himself. Are they good? NO. Do they explain anything? NO. Do we at any point as an audience have the slightest inkling as to why we should care what happens? Once again, NO.

Then we have a random sex scene. We are told that Slater and Reid are together, yet at no time do they act as though they even care about on another. But then BAM...sex scene. Once again I don't know.

A good, oh i don't know, 30 seconds after that woeful scene ends we have a gunfight with 20 or so military and a similar number of alien things. This is set to a heavy-metal track and causes more brain hemorrhaging than one ever thought possible.

And if that wasn't enough...

There exists no main villain. There is the scientist and there are the "alien" things. At one point the scientist controls the alien things and stands on a hill commanding them to attack the military outpost. Why? How did he become the supreme commander of these things? Why do they listen to him? Once again I have no idea.

The movie ends with Slater and Reid walking in an evacuated city. Why was the city evacuated? Did the alien things break through? Did the military tell them? Who knows...and by this point who cares? I didn't and you won't.

But to top it off, Slater and Reid are attacked by an alien thing. Even though it was stated that alien things will be killed by exposure to sunlight. And thats right, you guessed it, it the middle of the *&%$ing day and it's bright as can be. Maybe the alien thing bought a pair of sunglasses, I don't know and I don't care.

Now after the movie ended I ran outside the theater, all 6 foot 6 inches of me, waving my arms and shaking my afro telling everyone not to go see this movie. Even my gung-ho action/adventure roommate (who would consider a movie that just cut and pasted 2 hours of explosion into 1 film to be the greatest thing ever created) admitted that plot holes were very evident in this film.

To sum up this CRAP-FEST i give it a 0.0/10 and would give it lower if I could.

Unequivocally, the worst movie ever made. I wouldn't wish this movie on my worst enemy.

Alone in the Dark coul have been a good action/thriller film but he butchered it.. And he actually wants to direct a Metal Gear Solid film... Someone please stop giving this man the money to direct films...

I had seen it once in a mag back in 04. It was suggested but kinda lost its "thingy" it sorta disappeared into the back of the ideas cupboard i guess. I have seen it brought up in other forums and stuff but mostly rumours or what ifs you know.

But I think in the coming years people are going to get over this whole thing with comic book movies and movies based on games will be the next best thing. Its a huge pool to pick from and with the "Success" of Resident Evil, Doom and now silent hill who knows. I can see alot of hollywood guys rubbing their hands and licking their lips at the possibilities.

Please some one make sure Uwe man stays well clear of Metal gear solid, devil may cry, driver and all the others let him direct a romantic comedy based on the game RAMPAGE. yes.gif
Mr. Fahrenheit
I think a movie should definetely be made out of one of the Castlevania storylines. They would probably fit better as CGI or Anime films.
SAMURAI-X
Drakengard would make a great sci-fi movie i think, dragons, swords, magic and monsters how could you go wrong, yep box office smash, peter jackson would have to do it though. thumbsup.gif
Jack_of_Blades
The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
would rock the box office thumbsup.gif ,but
can't think of an actor to play Link or Zelda
so maybe animated.

Can't wait of Prince of Persia to come out.

We all know that GAMES -> MOVIES

suck!

For a variety of reasons...

One of them the PG13 Rating.... (that ruined Tomb Raider and Resident Evil... the movie must be a "success" so no 17-years limit!!!)

What would I like to see....

Something that would require Balls to film! Real guts!!!

PONG

Planescape Torment would make an unbeleaivable good film if done correctly and Another World. Pretty much two of the most atmospheric games i can think that could make it to film. And quite possibly Spy vs Spy involving Steve Martin and Michael Caine in a hilarious romp through soviet east germany. Outstanding.

Reese Witherspoon as Selphie

Oh and a earlier comment with jake as irvine or something jake probably wouldnt touch a game to movie movie hes all indie and such wants to tell stories or something. If he wants to tell a story stick him in MGS
Mr. Fahrenheit
This is about who we would like to see play them anyway, but if he was going to be in a game->movie movie, why would it have to be something like MGS? FF8 has an excellent story, too.
