The sinking of the Titanic has gripped the imagination of the public for generations. Now the story of the tragedy which claimed 1500 lives is to be retold in remarkable fashion at a major new exhibition in Fife. A pocket watch and "lucky" teddy bear belonging to passengers and crew who drowned are among the relics recovered from the wreck of the ship which will go on show at Deep Sea World in North Queensferry. Dresses and jewellery worn by Hollywood star Kate Winslet in the blockbuster film Titanic will also be on display, showing how the tragedy has continued to haunt the minds of people in Britain and the United States. Titanic: Honour and Glory will trace the story of the Titanic and her sister ships, the Olympic and Britannic, when it opens next month. Photographs and documents from the time will tell the story alongside exhibits such as the pocket watch, which was recovered from the body of an unidentified victim. Adding a splash of Hollywood glamour to the exhibition are a collection of some of the props from James Cameron’s box-office smash, including the distinctive blue Heart of the Ocean pendant, worn by Kate Winslet. The exhibition has been put together by Sean Szmalc, of the Falkirk Titanic Society, who has been fascinated with the disaster ever since he saw the film A Night to Remember when he was five. He now has more than 600 items of Titanic memorabilia.
