Anyone know what this is? Washed up on a remote beach - found as I was exploring with my 4wd. Have more pictures with close ups of fins and jaw etc, but will only share with someone knowledgeable, as I don't want all the pictures out in the public domain, until it has been verified in some way to be of known origin.

An Orca ?
Looks like a Dragon... but if u actually see an Orca carcus it looks like a Dragon. Tail and all. Orcas have a dragonish look, just like your pic.

yeah that definately looks like an orca skeleton, especially the 'teeth'.

I would be more inclined to say it is a sperm whale jaw, due to its shape and the fact there is no obvious upper jaw with teeth.

Ew thats pretty sick. I remember seeing a dinosaur in an old book I had that looked similar to that. It had a huge round body, four flippers, and a small bird-like long beak, with teeth sticking out from the sides. I'm gonna look for the picture. I thought it would be an Ichthyosaur or something.

This looks like the rotting carcus of a Sperm Whale. The lower jaw is the give away.

Very interesting but without very much detail it is hard to identify what particular species it is. It could be anything according to this picture. I am more into physics that any type of marine biology but I believe I could help with more information.

not to sound too redundant, but what else could it be?
I mean i'm by no means a whale carcus specialist by any means... but are you suggesting it's something totally different then a Whale? Or just suggesting it's not a sperm whale?

Hard to say 100%, but my money is with XSAS.
The jaw is very similar, not sure if it is significant, probably just size, age etc, but the carcass teeth look larger and more spaced, also the rear teeth look quite large on the carcass, whereas on the picture of the jaw they appear to taper down. In the picture, they also appear to point forward.
Any more pics from other angles?
Still, (XSAS) darn good match, top work. And yep, thanks for those pics, you are a top bloke

Agreed. The carcass appears to be a sperm whale. Apparently today is the basking shark's day off.

I am more inclined to think its a sperm whale. The very reson lies with the narrow lower jaw. See on the skeleton comparison below.

Could be a beached whale, a reptile, a dinosaur that escaped extinction, a dragon, anything really.
But it looks pretty genuine to me. Doubt that this is a hoax.

Is family fortunes the same thing as family feud?
Urisk
May 23 2006, 12:18 AM
I don't thinks so. Dunno what Family Feud is, but it don't sound the same. You got 2 families who have to answer questions. Each question has to correspond to what the audience say, and the number of audience who agree with you I think is the number of points (or money) you recieve. There's usually 5 different answers or something... Like:
"name something that you would take on holiday"
Sunscreen 35 (this is amount of audience- the top answer)
Sun glasses 24
Phrasebooks 12
etc. If you say something that's not on the board you get a big fat X and the oposing family get a go...
There's wayy more to it, but I can't be bothered trying to remember it at this time of night

but try googling it or looking on the Challenge TV sky channel website. Should find stuff on the net. Sure as eggs is eggs, sure as every odd number Star Trek movie is crap (bonus point for the quote---> extra point and ridicule iffen you remember the whole quote

)
