I don't know if this is the right place to post this thread...
A fellow member of another message board found this while planting bushes in his backyard. Does anyone have ANY info on it?

Well, first things first.
Please, resize it or moderator will remove. Its screwing with the forums layout.
Second: WOW!
That script looks like arab, I am not sure. But the names Raphael, Micheal and Gabriel, I think it refers to some angels names.
Im no expert, so would be great if someone could give a more professional repply to this!

First, it looks like a meddalion, not a coin, how big is it.
Second, the fact that it has both wiritings in hebrew (I presume) and english makes it junk. Probably some kid who is interested in the Khabbalah. Besides, the coin looks quite new.

It's a magic seal-the writing is mostly Hebrew, and indeed of Kabbalistic orig en, intended to invoke powers for good.
This said, such items are commonly sold in voo-doo and mumbo-jumbo shops that cater to superstitious folk.
Said folk will carry them for luck, and sometimes a bag with a lodestone in it to draw good fortune.
The names are those of powerful angels.
Diagnosis-a cheap novelty item that was dropped or lost, perhaps even placed there for some kind of mystical purpose.
If you credit this sort of thing, hold on to it, if not, put it in a drawer and make up some neat stories about it.
Some schnook is bound to believe it.

its an obvious fake, it is not older than 10 years due to no fade in colour or fading of the grooves. plus Raphiel isn't even in the same angelic order as gabriel and michael,... if it had the name Seraphiel then perhaps it may have held a little more authenticity...
other than that, just some novelty item some kid thought looked 'cool' and mystical, I say this because of the jewish and english writing. if it held any authenticity at all, then the angels mentioned would have actually been in the same angelic order. (Michael, Seraphiel & Gabriel hold the most power in this old testiment angelic order)
also the angelic order the two angels are in, are mentioned once in the old testiment, but because the jewish imagery depicted them as having a human form, they passed into the ranks of the christian angels.

Not a fake-it is what it is.
It will be well on the way to being an artifact of some value in 200 years or so.
There's no intent to deceive here, just a small mystery quickly solved.
Gamblers often carry such tokens, as do people who have peculiar mystical beliefs.
It's just new.

I'd agree with Mors Profundis for the most part. Just a quick very rough tranlation of the hebrew parts if you'd like, on the side with the big three Judeo-Christain archangels mentioned in english, the hebrew in the pyramid says "Sign of Wealth", On the back the outer circle reads "to bring riches". Looks like a gematria table in the center for those that enjoy that kind of thing.
I think it used to be common when moving into a house to bury a talisman for good luck in the yard. So, I guess he may have found it while doing the bushes. I have no idea of the implications of removing it, depends on what belief system you have I guess. But, should his house start sinking into the earth or a large swarm of locusts be seen approaching...maybe run out and put it back

It's not a coin, it's a seal or talisman.
I'd find a place to buy one, but when you search for that sort of thing you attract annoying email from con artists.
This is another topic that's gone on too long, case closed.
Hold on to the damned thing, though, it'll make an interesting story.

A good luck talisman or protective token. I've seen them advertised in some paranormal magazines and catalogs (such as Fate Magazine or LLewellyn's Catalog).

quite interesting. i must admit i'm a little jealous.
anyway, quite simply, that coin is used to invoke angels. the triangle with a circle in it is a common invokational symbol. i should know, i'm wearing a necklace with one right now.
my guess is that it is nothing more than a neat little souvenier which someone picked up in a metaphysic or neopagan shop.
a truly neat find.

Where do you get such a coin?
Mail-order from occult and novelty suppliers or from shops which sell "blessed" money candles and incense and other such paraphenalia.
