When Maddox got out of his car, he was approached by a friend.
"Who is that?" Maddox asked, nodding at the stranger.
"My cousin," the friend replied.
"What's your cousin doing wearing my clothes?" Maddox asked.
"There was a police officer there, and he called for another officer," Maddox told the Des Moines Register. "The guy with my clothes on was cooperative."
Police charged Dionndre Nicholas Isom, 27, with theft for allegedly possessing stolen property, the newspaper reported. Police said Isom claimed he bought the items from a man doing business out of the trunk of a car.
Isom admitted to knowing the clothes were stolen when he bought them for $150, but said he was innocent of breaking into a house to get them, police said.
"He was willing to give me my clothes back, but I said to just keep them," Maddox said. "What I really want back is the jewelry and the rest of it."
