The bit of London I originate from is quite historical. Within easy walking distance of my first home are: Tower Bridge and The Tower, the site of the inn where Chaucer's travellers left for Canterbury, Globe Theatre, the site of a prison where Dickens attended a public hanging and one of the UK Monopoly squares. John Lee (The Man They Couldn't Hang) once ran a pub nearby too.

I now live in another of those place people go to retire or die. sleeping.gif

Which part of Chicago are you from, sarkypi?

I'm from Midlothian, Virginia. Virginia gave the world lots of dead confederate soldiers, Norfolk naval base, pocahantas, and the master of goth, Edgar Alan Poe.

Some of my ancestors are from a town called Entrekinfoot in souther Scotland.

Well, for the most part I grew up in the lakeview area, and are u talking about the cutsie little sub names that we give areas like logan, wrigleyville, wickerpark, bucktown, boystown, and rogers park? 'Cause I don't know if giving the sub names is too specific?

I must say, this is one of THE most enlightening Threads to date!

"where you live"...... I'm not quite sure. I just moved (not recommended for sane people)....... Agent 21? The city from which I just moved here in Florida is called "God's Waiting Room"...... so you are not alone!

I only moved 40 miles north of above, still in Florida. Reese? Slap Slap...LOL!
You didn't mention the skeeters, gators, armadillos, land crabs, Sandhill Cranes, Love Bugs........ just to list a few. Yes indeedy, Florida is different.

Born in Maryland, Mid-Atlantic US, city of Baltimore. Home of "The Star Spangled Banner".... Francis Scott Key.... the once great Colts... Johnny U., Raymond Berry... Orioles Baseball, in their prime? Could NOT be beat! Chesapeake Bay Soft Crabs, Oysters, Hard Crabs.... Johns Hopkins Hospital, #1 in the USA for years ... Rowhouses with the famous marble stoops..... the list is endless.

From MD to Northern CA..... beautiful, but wacky. Drove cross country 4 years ago to Florida, in an attempt to continue to live. My pulse is still perkin along, so it was worth it... I think rolleyes.gif
