user posted image rThe "lost city" of Gelanggi or Linggiu, claimed to have been hidden in the jungles of Johor for more than a thousand years, does not exist, said an archaeologist in the National Heritage Department. Khalid Syed Ali, the curator of archaeology in the department's research and development division, said a team of researchers carried out a study over a month in July last year but found no evidence of the "lost city".The 15-strong team was headed by the Director-General of Museum and Antiquity Datuk Dr Adi Taha, he said in a working paper presented at a forum organised by the National Museum here. The search was launched following a claim made by an independent researcher Raimy Che Ros that he had found evidence of the "lost city" after 12 years of research.

The claim, published in a newspaper in February last year, created public excitement because Linggiu was said to be older than the Borobudur Buddhist temple in Indonesia built between 750 and 842 A.D. and Cambodia's Angkor Wat built 300 years later.Khalid said Raimy was believed to have come up with his claim based on his research of literature on Malay history and did not discover any physical traces of the "lost city".The search team led by Adi comprised researchers from his department, Malaysian Centre for Remote Sensing, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Malaya, Universiti Perguruan Sultan Idris and Malaysian Archaeology Association.

I'm not quite sure of the location but Linggi is quite far north of the bigfoot sighting site.

Full story of the lost city can be read here:

The lost city of johor will never be found as it will rewrite some history and undermine the so called superiority of certain races in the country.

It is also possible that the lost city now is inhabited by giant big foots.

first of all, how can you lose a city? it isnt that easy to. i mean, how many people do you hear saying, " crap! i left my city at the check out counter!," or, "hey, did you bring the city? no? me either.. what do you mean you must've dropped it hiking up here?!" or howsabout ," i tried the subway diet! its awesome! i lost a whole metropolis!"...okay anyways.... how can you lose a city?....

well, the city is very old, the forest is only second to amazon rainforest, and there are only traces of buildings here and there, clay pots and pants, some man made structures left overs, etc (they don't build things with rocks here when wood is easier to get. Woods rots away after a few hundred years)

You need to find clue of some sort of goverment or religion (in maybe the form of talisman, shrine, altar, etc, which of course would have rot away. They could be hindus or buddha or some other yet to be known religion.)

Then you have to date all these artifact and it must surpass the age of other known civilization here..bla..bla...bla....

it is like looking for a pin in a haystack.
