wait didn't they have a report where they found that mammoth DNA and Indian Elephant DNA are like 99% the same, and determined that it is possible to create Hybrids between the two species?

This is probably a pipe dream, not sure if a modern day asian elephant is a close enough match to be a surrogate mother, given scientists have no idea how long the gestation period is of the mammoth,or that the mother elephant will be supplying the fetus with the proper nutrients.

Would be cool though I have to admit.

well no, their plan is to create a hybrid, then use artificial selection to move it more towards what a real mammoth was like, so you won't get a 100% mammoth, but maybe 80-90%

If their plan is to creat a hybrid, then there is no problem. The fact that this 'project' might not even go through...

I think it would be, hell we can map the human genome, we can detemine junk DNA sort of. I voted yes it is possible. If they can clone a sheep they can clone an elephant let alone a human, it has been done I'm sure,just not public info.

They have found both female and male Mammoths, very well preserved, yes it's possible.

Absolutely not...they will always have elephant DNA in them...Over a millenia of breedidng, you might reach 99.5% mammoth...but never 100%.

So how do clones work? i thought they were an exact replica? A millenia wow you better ask your dad what kind of medical and experimental research is going on. Nice number 95.5% over a millenia where did you get that? And no my dad told me so does not work.

I personally believe that science could very well clone one, If need be I could look up cloning for you, and really does a species brought back from extinction need the gold seal of authenticity. Hell I would pay to see a 99.5 % mammoth but as far as waiting a thousand years i don't think so.
