I have been in college for 2 years now majoring in photography. After I had my baby last year (the picture of the baby crying in yellow) I switched to part time so I still have another year to go. I'm also a freelance photographer I mostly do single shoots. Photography rules!

Sweet, way sweet, so those are upside down and backward views? they never would have make my Mountain climbing trips, my Climbing partner loaned his Favorite Fuji 35 to a girl friend, she took it for a climb and they both her and camera took a plunge into a river... ooooo man was he not lost for words, I started off upon a Minolta SRT 101, I Loved it, had to have a Hard rugged body Camera for climbing, we went light weight and fast scrambling, I would loved to have had a Leicas or Hasselblads a long, but man they never would have made it, they are just not Extreme sporting Cameras…Pavot

I'll never risk my Mamiya, cause they don't make it anymore, on an climbing trip...but if the Leicas or the Hasselblad break...well that is it. The stores are full of them, you can always buy a new one.

I still have a Minolta set (that is retired from active use) consisting of an XE 7 and an XD 11. In those times Leica and Minolta worked together to build cameras (and the Minolta version was way cheaper than the Leica version).

I'd like to start this topic for the members of Unexplained Mysteries who have a love of taking pictures and capturing stories in images. I've recently found myself splurging on a relatively decent camera to fuel my desire to take pictures of the beauty that surrounds me in everyday life, and would like to share it with you and experience some of your own.

Photography I find is a peaceful hobby that allows people to share their surroundings and experiences while expressing oneself through the art of imagery. Now i certainly don't claim to be an expert in any way at all, i simply like to take pictures of things. Sometimes those pictures can only fully be enjoyed by the one who took it, and sometimes that can be a source of inspiration for others, or simple enjoyment to view the moments that others have captured.

So please, share some of your Photography, discuss your work and enjoy the work of others. I shall be uploading some of my own pictures very shortly.

Compress? You probably mean scale (reduce in size). Just use your image editor and choose resize. Careful, don't overwrite your original images.

Load the picture, under the Tab Image you will find a selection called Image size, there reduce it to about 6-800 pixels (long) leaving constrain proportions checked. Now save under another name (so you don't overwrite your original). Upload the newly saved version.

Im so glad I found this thread! Im taking a digital photo class at my highschool, and Im really beginning to enjoy photography. Unfortunately, my teacher isnt a photographer and doesnt really teach much about taking pictures sad.gif

Im using my dad's Cannon Rebel Xti, and I'm still trying to figure out what are all the modes for. The funny thing is, I know how to use the camera more than my dad. xD Here are a few of my favorite pictures I took:

Compressing is really an issue, other wise I'd post more.

Nice. When using DSLRs, it is all about learning to shoot on manual. I would pick up "Understanding Exposure" by Brian Peterson. It's a great book to help you learn more about exposure and aperture.

What glass do you have for the XTi?

Glass? Is that the lens? I think its a 72mm telephoto lens. Im using the manual mode, but I'm having a hard time figuring out what shutter speed, ISO, and aperture size to use. I looked online about it, and it helped a little bit but I'm still not completely sure. What confuses me is that aperture controls the ammount of light exposed, and also the depth of field?

Here's a scenario: Friday night, I was at my school's homecoming game trying to take pictures of the players and then people on the stands. One buddy tells me to set it to Aperture priority and another tells me to set it to Tv(Shutter Priority?), set the ISO too 800-1600, and have shutter speed at 1/60 to 1/125.

Not sure to do. And how do I adjust the aperture size on manual?

And here are the results:
