Howdy all. I've just been over in another website, and there's a great feature on that site, that I can't see available here. It's a spoiler warning. I guess it would be most useful in the general topic discussions, especially about movies and tv shows and books (and perhaps games). The code goes something like this:
hey, this is the synopsis of the newest episode of the show no one's seen yet....
And hides the text behind a "click to show" box. It would avoid heaps of angst with people who didn't want to know what would happen, and avoid the need to put spoiler warnings before every post.

click here for an example post I think it's a worthwhile idea *files idea away for upgrades v9.0*

Just a thought.

Sounds good to me. I dare not look at any posts about "Lost" just in case it is a discussion about series 2.

lol, well...they're marked with ****spoiler**** on top. That's seemed to work all this time.

But all it takes is one that isn't. no.gif

Besides which a discussion on what has happened ages ago in the US may not seem like a spoiler to Americans but may still be about an episode yet to air in the UK.

I've seen tags like these used on TV discussion forums and the like. It's a nice idea in practice, there might be a modification for Invision Board for adding such a feature.

It wouldn't really solve the problem though, as Waspie says, it would only take one person to post plot details without the spoiler tags. Some people might forget, or not know about them.

Even in a thread with spoiler tags, you might be reading through it and someone has posted something you didn't want to see amongst them. It would serve as an alternative to writing 'spoiler' in the topic description, but people still couldn't read the thread without fear of reading some small hint of a spoiler in there.

In a way, having 'spoiler' in the title so people know to avoid the thread completely is probably a better idea in the long run.
