Full Version: Alien and Paranormal Shows on TV
Okay, I don't know if I'm the only one that notices this but, there's been a lot of "Alien" and "Paranormal" tv shows on tv lately, wouldn't you say? Previous to 2004, you mention the word "ghost" or "alien" and people would laugh in your face but, now they have these real dramatic tv shows depicting ordinary people interacting with these things in a serious manner. I've read somewhere that the media, is used to sort of guide societies, into beleiving something, or getting them used to the idea of something. For instance Hilary Clinton may be running for President in the upcoming election, I just can't help but notice that Gina Davis is our first women President on tv. So are all these "alien'" and "paranormal" shows trying to tell us something? Or are they just for pure entertainment?
They sell and cost very little to make. Plus they bare repeating several times and people still watch them..If they didn't make money they wouldn't get made. Ergo, the audience is there, so the demand is being catered for.
As to *conditioning* us getting use to weird sh**... could well be, but i couldn't possibly comment or else i'd have to give up my parking space at Milliways..

i read a fox news article that said "a third of Americans believe in ghosts" and 34% believe in UFos. so, it's not surprising paranormal-related tv is popular. just look at Ghost Hunters popularity. those guys have their own line of clothing, sponsors, etc etc. And solid ratings.

E. The aliens will give Earth their cold-fusion, their teleporters, their food replicators, and their pleasure-amplifiers, but on one condition:
F. All who receive the alien technology must
1. Acknowledge that Aliens created both Earth and Humans
2. Join the Alien-led One-World Government

If this looks like some kind of joke, then you don’t know much about Pop-culture. Most Americans do think we’re being studied by a “superior” civilization from “outer space”. There already IS an alien religion. Its followers Do believe that the aliens, or “Greys” invented all World religions. You’ve seen their big-eyed, bulbous heads everywhere. On TV. At the grocery, on half the products you buy. On review-mirror air fresheners.
The two most common themes in popular culture are “Aliens” and “Angels”. It is only a matter of time before these motifs are combined. The emphasis is on a superior intellect, ( not GOD ) who will solve all human problems. Angels, like aliens never call people to live moral lives, but only to get in tune with the mass of humanity, to feel the coming earth changes. The "NEW" religion, instead of requiring people to formulate their own moral compasses, will absolve all those who follow the "dear leader."
