I can't decide! They're all so great. I am too much of a horror movie junkee to decide.
But if I have to choose I say ghosts. Then aliens, then slasher, then zombie.
The only kind I don't like are shark movies, they're just so stupid!
Happy?

zombie movies hands down. slashers suck and are predictable, not to mention very 90's, theres only a handfull of shark horrors ut there and they are usually mistaken theyre thrillers theres a difference. but a close second is ghost tpe films, with a factual background or based on a true story. they are truly the best.

I guess I'm the only one here thats a big fan of cheesy ol' slasher films.

I also love zombie movies and all the other horror movies, but oh well. Probably 'cause I started with slashers as my first horror films when I was little.

I'm a big horror movie fan but I had to go with zombies. No other movie can scare me like a good zombie movie can.

If 'genre' can be appled to books, my top author of all time has to be Dean Koontz. Just the right mixture of chills, thrills and laughs. And, of course, dear old H P Lovecraft, dresses and all.

Hmmm
Sharks are kick arse, and i used to have an obsession with JAWS...but
would have to say
Zombie or Alien
The horror genre rocks, and its my fave, the only thing that gets me is that many of the characters ARE SO GOD DAMN STUPID.
Example: SAW II. She puts her hand in the thing. It gets stuck. Hey, Im bleeding now. Oh Gee, maybe the other one will work...Coz its not like ive been trapped by a psychopathic clown guy who wants to KILL ME.

lmao i hear that brother. i hated saw 2 destroyed all what the first one stood for. too hollywood. absolute dissapointment.
also i love the horror genre, however do you ever think: if there werent to many bad 1940's movies or generally contemporary bad horrors like *ahem* dracula 3000, that people would take the genre more seriously?

Hmm yeah, although i do enjoy the naff 1940's horror movies. Its true though, people associate horror with trashy teenage slasher movies - (Last Summer Movies, Scream etc). Even more so these days, when horror movies only seem to be Movie adaptions of video games. The horror genre, i think, its commonly seen as 2D...people die, there is blood and you leave knowing what the entire human body looks like from the inside. Its just Wham, Bam, Thankyou M'am. We need a horror movie that has something more than just blood as the underlying theme. I loved 28 Days Later for that.
But seriously, Video game adaptions...Im getting over that.

if only more people thought like us, the genre would go far, it needs to be reinvented and taken seriously. and all the sh** sub-genres banned.

Me and my hubbies fav's are Slasher & Ghost-for him and mine are Dracula, slasher, and Psychological then Ghost for me.
I think Zombie movies are the stupidest. I mean Zombie movies are so 80's and around that era. Has anyone seen the newest Night of the Living Dead-totally sucked. Only Zombie movie I can give credit to being worthy awesome is Resident Evil and 28 Days Later.

LMAO. there are only 2 technical night of the living deads. i think your reffering to land of the dead. and yes, it sucked. and no you cant put an era on zombie films the first was made in 1915 and its been going from there. slashers are the cheapest to make ever and dont actually have real narrative, in the words of scary movie; 'Did Scream have a story? No. did: i know what you did last summer make any sense? i dont think so.' nuff said.
plus: 28 days later was never meant to be a zombie flick, the director and writer said so. and also resident evil is more action, less horror...

True. I guess they arent even Zombies - if you define Zombies as the 'undead'. But if you define zombies as those who are driven by they're basic instincts and do not think morally or rationally...i guess they are. If you define Zombies as people with nasty colds...well yeah.
If you think about it, most Zombie flicks these days are based on some virus. There aint no half-skeletal-fresh-outta-the-grave zombies. Although they did make an appearance in the Resident EvilII movie...
(31oha2a121)
May 14 2006, 10:22 AM
wise words. originally all zombie flicks whereabout voo doo becasue it wasnt very known about in the west, and cults and such like becasue they were untouched upon. now tha people are more knowledgeable about viruses its a perfect way to assimilate it to the genre. you still see some only skeletal form zombies in such films as return of ther livig dead, however those films are not to bne taken seriously, the cliche: 'BRRRRRSAAAIIINNS' isnt even from the firs zombie films, and is only used in 2-3 known flicks, so how did it even come about?
Captain Rachael
May 14 2006, 11:11 AM
Yeah. Think about it - a rotting corpse which wanders around aimlessly isnt really a scary idea. Theyre just...well...slow. Its
kind of scary, but not really.
But this is Hollywood - and something that doesnt pose a threat to humanity isnt really that frightening. "*shrieeeeeeek* Your bloodying my walls! *kills*"
Add the desire to eat human flesh and BANG, Zombies are dangerous. Which equals scary - because, well...me and my brain have a nice little relationship going so i dont exactly want it gone. -.-
Also, your confronted with that question most horror movies have; "What would you do in that situation?". Survival is a scary thing, specially when it involves dying a slow, excruciating death at the hands of some manic dead human corpse thing.
