Hi, i'm 14, a freshmen in hs, and I want to ask if anyone has the problem of decifering their psychic abilities as a 'gift' or 'curse'. because i'm an empath i usually have 'false emotions' that i steal from other people. an example would be at my uncle's funeral. during the actual funeral i cried the hardest and the most, but there it didn't seem to have a salient reason. i did realize tho that when i did cry i could feel the pain of one of my cousins or think the thoughts of my relatives. this can be taken as a gift i guess because i can easily tell how a person is feeling. another hard to decifer ability is knowing when something bad is going to happen. i know this is a common ability but i just wanted to ask about it. My first premonition i had was when i was eleven. i woke up one morning and something didn't feel right. i immediately knew something was wrong. when i went downstairs my mom announced to me that that morning my grandfather passed away. i immediately took this as a possible 'psychic' sign. these feelings are still continuing but not always with deaths. sometimes it's an illness, a bad grade at school, someone i know getting hurt, etc. At first when i began having these experiences they were the day before it actually happened. Now, i receive my premonitions from a day to a week before the bad event actually happens. When i get a premonition i feel horrible physically, mentally, and emotionally. normal? i take this as a burden to carry on my shoulders because whenever i get a bad feeling, i have to worry about all the people that are close to me. I think it's horrible what i have to go through sometimes because sometimes i find myself laying in my bed crying, knowing someone i love, be it friend or family, is going to get hurt. does anyone else have these problems?

My premontitions arent taken seriously. Also, be happy with your empathy. I never feel any feelings anymore, neither mine or other people's.

I think it is a blessing. I get premonitions, most of the time they are right sometimes they are wrong.When I was seven i knew my grandmother had passed away before anyone even contacted our family. It usually happens with deaths for me but not always. Sometimes its other things that really don't matter that much.

thanks. sometimes empathy can be a pain in the butt, but i'm trying to control it. the thing with my premonitions is that they are always true and i have never had one that didn't happen. i heard that empathy can lead to other psychic abilities. true?

i think it has some kind of connection to ESP..
so why not?
I am an empath to
so I know how it is..
but I have psionic sheilding to control it and i can think "commands" in my head to kind of
"deactivate/activate" it so i never feel anyones emotions if i dont want to

Mine is a curse. I get premonitions a year or more in advance and I find it very emotionally disturbing. Most often...I know something is going to happen but I don't know the when, where or how. I have one going on now..and it has been over a year so far. So, I don't know what to tell you except that...you're not alone.

The irrelavant premonitions - such as who's on the phone etc - are neither gift nor curse, however the rest of them are curses.
you have no idea whether the premonition is genuine or just an overactive imagination, no way of knowing what can be done to change the ultimate effect of what you see/feel, and whether changing anything will make things worse or better for you or others.
Thankfully I don't get them that often.

Expect the worst. Hope for the best. . The only choice that's seems possible.

lol. well bad things are bound to happen at least once a year so does that mean you're miserable all the time? unless you usually sense something such as a nation wide disaster or a completely hideous phenomenon you shouldn't regard your premonitions that much. no one's life is pure happiness unless you're a buddhist and have attained nirvana. (which i have to say is rare).

I don't know that I truly have the ability in empathy,but all I know is that I can feel some peoples emotions....not all the time...I think on and off...but i don't like empathy that much.....

I don't get premonitions very often. In fact, they're extremely rare. So no...I'm not usually miserable. This last one I had was vague...yet gave me enough information to set me on edge. It's something important...but it's difficult to say exactly what it is. I would rather have not had the premonition..or had more information.

Incidently, one way to tell whether or not it's your intuition or wishful/fearful thinking is whether or not the information is neutral. For example, I hear a short, neutral phrase that sounds like my own voice....only I didn't consciously think it. It just sort of...pops in unexpected. Very rarely, this will happen when the phone rings. I might be sitting there reading a book, lost in thought, when the phone rings...and I am "told" the name of the person calling. I actually hear the name spoken. Like I said...it doesn't happen very often...and it's not something I can control.

If the information comes in with a neutral feeling...no emotion attached...you can pretty much trust it as genuine. However, I have received emotions related to future experiences.

Does anyone get premomitions in dreams? The reason I ask is I had a weird dream that I was pulling my car along by a piece of string, parking it up and what not because the engine wouldn't start. I got into my car in the morning and my car would not start, totally dead. Is this just coincidence? I feel it may be, but would appreciate your opinions. The car was totally fine before this.

I get that sort of thing from time to time. Can't say if it's coincidence or not but to me it sounds like a premonition. You dreamed your car wouldn't start - then the next day (low and behold) it doesn't.

I get dreams that do with day to day stuff,like me talkign to my friends,but i do get some dreams that creep me out,like i had one dream,where i was talking to some dude,i had never seen him before in my life,like a month later,i ended talking to that dude at my work exactly the same way in my dream.Is empathy a normal human characteristic or does it have to do with all that psychic stuff,but in my dreams,like,it happens in real life exactly the same way with my dreams like i talk to my sister about something or my friend about something and it happens exactly like my dream,every thing is the same,no change in clothing or hair or anything like that

i certainly do get precognition dreams too. it happens a lot and i think it's normal for a psion.

To answer your question Juno, i think empathy is a common psychic ability. i don't think it's for normal human tho because most of my friends are skeptics and don't get it, but also, i have a lot of cousins who are believers but don't have empathy.
