Ok check it out, three nights ago I felt a weird presence in my house. I heard some noises but I tried to fall asleep and forget about it. That didnt happen because my dogs in my basement started barking like crazy! so I got up to check it out thinking someone may have been tampering with my doors trying to get in. I found nothing and the noises went away but it still felt like someone was in the house. I finally fell asleep and forgot all about it. but then last night I flet the same thing and hear foot steps around the house but my wife was asleep and we have no kids the dogs were also in the kennels 2 floors below us. I tried to not think about it and go to sleep but I could not I rolled over because it felt like something was in our bedroom, i seen a blury figure of a man at the end of my bed bloddy as crap, I closed my eyes and it was gone. I thought is was just me worring about the sound from the night before so again i finally fell asleep. Well tonight I told my wife i felt like there was something following me around. She was like okay. Well around midnight i was walking into our bedroom to tell her goodnight. She was reading and suddenly our light in the room turned off. I went to turn in back on and then the reading light next to the bed turned itself on. Scary huh. I want to say that there is an electrical problem but I went down to the livingroom about 1:20 am and again the light in the living room tuned off then on then off then on. I am a 23 y/o male just got out of the military i dont do drugs or drink but once a month so I am not druged or anything. I really wanna know what is going on so if you have any ideas please let me know

Well provided that is what happened it really is simple....Your house is haunted....Either that or you have some weird bloke in your house but that still doesn't explain the lights flicking off and on. Now you can either just accept that there is someone else sharing the house or if the 'spirit' is thretening or just too much for you to deal with you could always have someone from the church come in and cleanse your house as I am pretty sure they will do that for you.
Hope my advice proves to be of some assistance. All the best.

A haunting doesn't occur over night, I'm sorry. Now, if you were new to the home, then sure, it could possibly be something related to a haunting. OR! If you've recently moved in, it could very well be the house itself. The foundation may be settling, which could cause the foot step like sounds. Shadowy figures seen in dim light can be dismissed as a trick of the eye, trying to focus. And the 'bloody man' seen near the bed could be a projection of your fear. But if you've lived there for over a year...two years...maybe even three, and nothing like this has happened before. Call a security agent, or stop eating just before bed.
Otherwise, this could just be a plea for attention.

I disagree with hauntings just not occuring over night. I think alot of spirits wander through the world of the living, sometimes they follow people, sometimes they just show up unexpectedly and leave just as unexpectedly as they came. I believe, all though some ghosts are pinned to a certain place, like a house or the place of their death alot actually just are passing through where they are seen, I dont think all of them have a certain haunt.
Maybe your ghost is just a temporary visitor who will move on to somewhere else once he has finished with your house. He may just be passing through....

Couple of questions for you....
When you were in the military did you see any action that could be haunting your mind? I know my cousin fought in Desert Storm and saw some terrible things. When he got back, those images haunted his mind and his dreams for a very long time...
Does your wife see or hear anything? The lights could be passed on as electrical issues....Does she feel the presence or see anything else?
I do agree that spirits can come and go. I live beside a cemetary and we have this happen quite often. It could possibly be someone that has just passed away.

Thats actually a very interesting question.
Did you see any action while in the military? I know that people that have been in combat can get shellshock etc etc, I wonder whether this may trigger something in the brain that externalises energy, similar to what we call 'poltergeist' activity???
Just a thought.

hi,
was there a recent murder or tragic accident in your area or in the town where you live?every entity has to have a starting point when they pass from flesh to spirit, and this is what may have happened.it could be that the man you saw may have lived in your house sometime in his life and his spirit was naturally drawn there.but it does'nt mean he's there to hurt you or your wife.animals are very sensitive to things that we can't pick-up.if you see this man again don't be afraid to tell him to go to the light.he may just be in the transition of doing that and does'nt know how.it's also possible he does'nt know he's dead.it' sounds like a human haunting and most of the time if you tell them to leave, they will.good luck.

Maybe someone died in the house, or maybe someone is trying to concact you, or it could simply be place memory.

Do some research on your house. Ask questions about prior residents. I doubt that it is a menacing presence. More than likely it's some energy left over from the past. As long as you validate its presence by greeting it occasionally, giving it a name and welcoming it, it should go on its way.

AS for seeing any action I myself was shot while in Iraq and I thought about that possibility, I tried to tell myself it was just me thinking it all up but my wife has seen the lights flash to. There is no way it is an electrical problem becuase it has only happened when I enter a room and only to the lights in that room. As far as for the house it is only 8 years old I have been here for 9 months and the previous owner is a family friend who built it and she is still alive and well. The only other thing is my step mom passed away 5 years ago of cancer and we lived just one street over. I again dont think this is her because the bloddy man makes no sence and I have been visited by her once before. I am not trying to get attention just wanna know what is going on. I thank everyone one for your feeback and please keep it coming.

sorry to hear you were shot while serving our country.i was a pow in vietnam in 1970 for 96 days.they hung me upside down and stuck a red hot bayonet in both my wrists till they hit bone.i still carry the scars.anyway back to the subject.since the house is only 8 years old and you know who built it,do you know if another house was there before?from your posts it sounds like a human haunting.they will turn on lights and mess with the electricity sometimes just to let you know they are there.the man entity has got me baffled.i honestly don't believe it is a harmful spirit because it would have already done something by now.many times ghosts will pick out a family member and follow them around.i still think it would be a good idea just to talk to it.i strongly believe the "man"you saw and the spirit that is playing with the lights are one and the same.from my years of paranormal investigations it does'nt fit a demon or poltergeist haunting.they come in and start acting up right away.hope someone here at u-m can find an answer for you.thanks

I cant really offer any advice

I'm a nubbie at all this.
Greywolf, you seem to know a lot about spirits and ghosts and whatnot. Can you give me a good website, book, etc that you consider accurate? If anyone else has sources they find useful, please throw them in. Thanks

Sorry to interrupt on your problem, JD. I agree with everyone else here. If it meant to hurt you, it would have tried by now. Perhaps you could help those who know what their doing here (not me) out by some more details. Could you see what he's wearing? Was he looking at you, or just there? When you say "bloody" what do you mean? All over? Just certain areas?

Hm. This reminds me of what happened between my friends and I. One started to see a bloodied man, then another saw it, I didn't believe them till they both stayed over and I saw it. I may not be the type to pray, but something I said made it go away. I am always afraid of things but I decided not to. But it's really hard to know what something like this is. But since only you've been seening it, then it may be different, but take the advice form others here.

The most likely cause for this is hypnopompic/hypnogogic hallucinations, google them if you like.

Still doesn't explain the lights turning off. But my preacher has came and blessed the house and nothing happened last night.

The lights could flicker on or off because of a power surge, mice or any number of things. Don't rule out the mundane before jumping to the paranormal.
