Personally my list of weirdest animals definitely would have the platypus on it. Not only is it a mammal that lays eggs, but it has spurs on it's hind feet that deliver poisonous venom which is strong enough to kill an average sized dog and has been recorded to have caused cardiac arrest, and death, in at least one person. Amazing!
They are strange looking, aren't they?

In fact, did you know that when first white people came to Australia and they saw them they thought it would be great to take some back to England to show them to people. So they did just that and people in England thought it was a joke. They didn't believe that platypus was a real animal. They thought it was made out of lots of different animals' parts. I guess back than people didn't have an open mind.
