I know there's already been tons of boards with the same topic but I'm looking for some good books and who better to ask then...then you guys? Heh, so if you could tell me what the book is about roughly that'd be great. I'll also be glad to give you my recommendations.

Or you can just tell me what your all time favourite book is.

Only Happy When It Rains
I have a few favorites but one of the first ones that comes to mind would be "Blood and Chocolate" by Annette Curtis Clause. The book is about a teenage werewolf who falls in love with a human boy and is trying to figure out where she belongs and with whom, all while fighting her packmates and the fear of the townspeople. Another one of my all time favorites would have to be "Strange Toys" by Patricia Geary. Strange Toys is about Pet, who at nine years old is struggling to protect her family from the horrors predicted in her strange older sister's book of secrets -- horrors that indeed come true. At sixteen, Pet is hunting down her older sister to wreak vengence -- or something else. At thirty, Pet attains strength and power enough to protect her from the present, but not from her sister's raging past. Another really good book is "Island of the Blue Dolphins" by Scott O'Dell. It's the story of Karana, the Indian girl who lived alone for years on the Island of the Blue Dolphins. Karana's story is full of adventure and sadness, but it is an incredibly good book.

Tillghast
Although this sounds silly. It is a very good book. It's called The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocplyse. It's about a boy who wants to go tot the Big City and do something with himself. He makes a wrong turn. And ends up in Toy City. A city populated with toys, bears, dollies and other strange creatures. Also, there is a serial killer on the loose, murderering Fairy Tale characters. It's a great book. It's by Robert Rankin.

"sabriel" - Garth nix, first in the series of 3, is a good book though I've only read 3/4 of it so far.

its about a daughter of a great necromancer called "abhorsen", inwhich he suddenly vanishes. so Sabriel sets off to find him through the old kingdom. Abhorsen was a necromancer set on helping those that had died, cross the gates into the afterlife, unlike other necromancers.
Sabriel is caught between two worlds, Ancelstierre (her home) and the old kingdom (where her destiny lies)

I read the Silmarillion...the whole thing, had to force myself to finish it though.

The Electric Kool-aid Acid Test, by Tom Wolfe, good book too.

as far as Moby Dick goes, I'd say that the first half is kind of negligible, it doesn't add a ton to the story, its just about whaling in general.

American Gods by Neil Gaiman was really good

Ender's Game is one of the greatest books ever written, go get it, by Orson Scott Card
Chiron_the_Horse
my head injury opened up
the King/Straub books are:
The Talisman
Black House
