Few days back i acuired a little program with which i can explore few planets, its somewhat like Google earth, only i can view Earth/Mars/jupiter/moon
well i gained some knowledge and also many more questions,
it seems that all the landings, and satelites are over the places that have nothing to show us. desert places, etc...
i will post few pics so you guys can see yourself original.gif

So here are the few pics that i took of our dear planets original.gif post what your opinion or knowledge is of these things, i am brand new to this part of science so i know nothing any info would help original.gif

1st one is Chryse Planitia, landing site of Viking 1...

The 3rd one is Valles Marineris, a canyon i think...

The 5th one is definitely Mount Olympus, the largest volcano in the solar system if my infos are right...

But the 6th one is NOT Jupiter, maybe one of it's moon but not Jupiter itself i'm sure, looks like the hideen face of our own moon !

plus that jupiters mon photo I SWEAR looks just like a dang human with opened mouth and spiting fire, atmosphere ? or my imagination, lol

Imagination. There's no giant fire breathing dude living on Io. Not as far as I know, anyhow. The pictures are awesome, though! I really like the last three in your first post. You almost feel like all that green, there's something living there.

well our planet would look the same as all those except for we have weather, our planet is still very active, plant life, if our planet were like mars pretty much dead they would look the same.

No idea why their are shining rocks on the moon alien.gif

Gragh, I've used it too but I can't for the life of me recall the name. It's great fun, although you can't get great detail on, for instance, earth, without downloading HUGE texture files.

its little Nasa program called "World Wind" if anyone is interested pm me i will tell you where to get it original.gif

That's not the program I was thinking of...This one would let you go literally anywhere in the universe, even to distant stars (though they weren't detailed if they were distant). You could look at every planet, every moon...I'll try to find it.

Edit: Got it! Celestia. http://www.shatters.net/celestia/ Great software, and free too! thumbsup.gif

Io is a moon which is in fact a fire breathing thing all by itself. It is most certainly the most unusual, and certainly most active moon in the solar system. The surface of the moon is primarily composed of volcanoes and calderae of sulferous composition. It's mottled appearance is due to the continual eruption and flows of volcanic sulferous compounds.

Generally speaking, in natural color images of this moon, you can see brown to orangish areas which are generally sulferous compounds spread about by volcvanic activity, and the lighter colored areas may be blanketed with sulfur dioxide snow (the mean surface temperature is about -143 degrees C).

Piggybacking onto your post, Io is the most geologically active and evolving body in our solar system. It's been documented that Io's eruptions cause almost daily reconfigurations of the moon's surface features, so much, that no two photos taken 36 hours apart are identical.

Great photos.

True indeed...!

Nice photo's!

I really got gripped by this planet a few years aggo. I read quite allot of books about the planet. Most of them about the piramyds and the face. It cannot be denied that the subject is mysterious, and quite unexplainable original.gif

Altho findings by the mars rovers proved there could have been a salt sea or lake on mars.
This could cover up the story that the planet was once a living planet. Some say it was hit by a meteorite or comet. Other say it once carried life and later just died out because Mars could not sustaine life long enough.

It's a interesting planet
Lilly
Well, the face on Mars may be *mysterious* for some, but for others it's not very mysterious at all...it's a mesa! yes.gif

Hi Lilly, it might be a suggestion for you to read a good book about the face, there is allot more to learn and to doubt about the statement that NASA is using. The book "The monuments of Mars" from Richard C. Hoagland is quite a good book, but there is allot more original.gif

Here's a beautiful example photo;

To place the words "Richard C. Hoagland" and "good book" in the same sentence is an oxymoron.

I'm quite familiar with Richard Hoagland and his ideas about Mars (and other things). I suggest that credulous acceptance of his claims is not the way to go. I would suggest that you take a look at what an actual astronomer has to say about Mr. Hoagland's claims.

Nothing would make me more happy than to find conclusive evidence of an ancient alien civilization on Mars. However, this simply is not the case here. The "face" is a mesa, and the pyramid shaped outcroppings are of geological origin. Bottom line: there's nothing in Cydonia that supports the notion of artificial construction. Do a bit of research about Mars, do a bit of research about Mr. Hoagland and his claims, I think your opinion will be changed rather quickly.

You just cannot say they are of geographical origin, nature cannot produce such forms, even when they form mathematical formations.

We will never know until they will investigate it at hand range. I just beleive there is something strange about this original.gif

Nature has produced these forms, and they have been observed in more detail.

The photograph showing the "face" was taken by the Viking orbiters in the late 1970s. There are currently 4 spacecraft in orbit around Mars, 3 of which have been taking images in far higher resolution than Viking was capable of (the fourth is just about to come on line). Images from these space craft show that the "face" was just an optical illusion caused by shadow on a natural object.

The link that Lily provided a few posts back gives some of the more recent images of this object including this one:

It doesn't look much like an artificial object made by a highly advanced race to me.
Lilly
The Cydonia region of Mars was most likely formed due to volcanic activity. See this link for a good overview on this geological process.

Now, as for the "mathematical precision" claims that Mr. Hoagland makes for this area, see here and here to find out what an actual mathematician (Ralph Greenberg) has to say about this hypothesis.

QUOTE
....Concerning various "alignments" that he and others have noticed, Hoagland offers some probability arguments which are completely "a posteriori" and therefore have no value as scientific evidence. His thinking on this whole issue seems incredibly shallow to me. Is it really worthwhile responding to that?
Quite frankly, I don't know if it is worthwhile. My efforts over the past several years to challenge Hoagland on this issue seem to have accomplished very little. In the Fall of 1996, I gave Hoagland a summary of the numerical experiment mentioned above. That simple experiment demonstrated how easily one can find striking patterns of mathematical relationships like the ones that he presents in his book. This was an attempt on my part to convince him that scientists were quite right to reject that kind of evidence....
