I know I'm not the only one whose seen an unfortunate upturn in the number of negative posts in this forum, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who's starting to get a little bothered by it. Now I try my best to get along with everyone, and so far I haven't gotten any nasty pms or anything of that nature. I keep coming back because certain members make my visits worthwhile, whether through well thought out, informative posts, or by just plain making me laugh. Many of them by the same members. I think we should all try to get along, this is a great site and let's not ruin it by being petty and bitter.
Kismit
Here , Here snuffy .....

but in defence of the so called negative posters , It's there synical and bitter views that bring the diversity which makes this site such a great place to hang out ....

I'm not posting this to offend anyone , I just really like the synical and bitter ............ I miss Aslan sad.gif

Very true Snuffypuffer.
Everyone has the right to their own views, but there’s no needs to be nasty along with it, or outright horrible!

I’ve only been coming here for a week or so, and I enjoy the threads people create, and I like participating in them, and giving across my own views, along with everyone else’s. And I’ve started enough of my own, which I hope people enjoy.

Sometimes it only takes one bad apple to upset the whole cart. Let’s all be good fruits, ay?

To be honest I look forward to coming here. I consider alot of you freinds to what ever extent the net allows. But negativity like that wich was on the government lies thread is unacceptable.

I too miss Aslan...where did he go anyway?
reese2
OK Guys, I get it................... hehehe..... I happen to like a little difference... I don't like any one being mean, especially to my friends, but I still think that they got what they deserved, and if anyone bothered to notice, they didn't hang out long...

The little trolls always go away... But it is so much fun to mess with them a little. On the Government Lies thread, I could almost see their faces getting red....

Good, good fun!!! whistling2.gif wink2.gif tongue.gif wub.gif

Way to go Kismit, for being so honest.... wub.gif

Ironically, if Aslan was still here to put the trolls in their place..... I miss him too, Kismit. And Reese is correct, the trolls do tend to leave after awhile, I just don't want to see any of the folks I consider friends going with them.
Agent_21
That's a really nice gesture to start this thread. original.gif I think the people here are mostly benevolent, or at least not actively malevolent, and I personally would be dismayed to find I'd caused anyone any hurt or distress.

There are those remote, elevated beings known as moderators to keep an eye on things too. In Mod we trust. rolleyes.gif

I guess i must read every post with a ahppy tone cause I am not aware of many negative posts, well I can think of one or two, and they are from people that post once every second full moon. whistling2.gif

Excellent topic snuffy. thumbsup.gif

Negative posts will always be part of any forum, unless they are edited by the mods to the point of making the forum ridiculously one sided (if not down right "lifeless"). However, I see no reason why anyone with an opposing point of view should post anything offensive, or act confrontational to the other members. A civil and intelligent debate between opposing views is healthy for a forum such as this one. But childish attacks and baseless accusations only serve to drive away anyone seriously interested in the subject.

As far as forums go, I consider this one my new home. Most of the people here do offer interesting information and colorful insights, as well as being a cool bunch of dudes and chix. I too feel that I have made many friends here.

Also, If I'm one of those considered "negative" and have offended anyone with a poor choice of words, then I apologize. But I will not apologize for having expressed my point of view.

Peace cool.gif
Kismit
Firstlyt I would like to point out that

was meant to be a suportive here , here not a negative one .

and secondly I just wanted to say Here, Here to Agent 21

I can honestly say you've never offended me, Kismit, calm down, breathe normally. laugh.gif I repeat, never,...never have you offended me. I'm sure I've offended more people than you have. wink2.gif
Althalus
Excelent topic this, I think that posts should only be altered of they contain anything that could be considered offensive to another member, as people putting there own views across is the whole idea of a forum.
sarkypi
I joined this forum for the conversation and to make a few friends. At the time that I joined, I noticed some negativity. I chalked it up to growing pains. Now that I am an active participant, I can not help but think it is more than that.
We all have differences of opinion, and I do not always agree with what everyone says. I am sure I have offended members, without even trying. I do refrain from the vulgar language, tho. It is uncalled for and in no way justified. Just so everyone knows, if anyone here is ever in a disagreement with me, and vulgar language/insults are used, then your words will have fallen on death ears.
I also feel that once again if any member does not like where a thread is going than participate. By participation, I do not mean complain. Complaining and conversing are two separate things. I for one will not take a complaint seriously if a member; Complains about a conversation that they did not start or participate in. Also, if anyone enters the thread late and does not like where a thread is going, than redirect it. By redirecting, I mean offering an opinion, not complaining that it needs to be redirected.
Althalus
Thats good advice sarkypi, if someone does not like how a thread is going then they can either leave the thread alone or try to change its outcome by partricipating and posting something worthwhile and constructive.
Benjo Koolzooie
Well said Althalus. thumbsup.gif

I love it when I see a horribly close minded and one sided post with a lot of negativity behind. Usually because it means I'll get to see a nice logical correction by usually either Homer or Magikman. Then the person usually disappears. I'm negative every now and then, by never directed towards anyone whom I detect is really serious. I just get a little tired of the 'kids' sometimes (being young doesn't make you one of them...I run everyone thorugh a personality screening process to detect their maturity level)

Sounds technical. cool.gif

I check profiles, read when they signed up and how many times they have bothered to post. And if they use lots of slang and so on and make one or two very stupid posts, you can usually tell what they will post will be garbage.
Agent_21
Sarkypi makes some good, thoughtful, common sense points there. I will endeavour to live up to them in the future. Thank you. original.gif

Aww, Bah Humbug!!! disgust.gif

I am just going to be myself, and rip into anyone that deserves it.. (With all politeness of course)

hehehe.....

Yeah, I think Snuffy started a good and constructive topic, that a lot of us needed to talk about. During this summer I had enough with "kids" (I join dust for the definition) and despising remarks...for example those which pushed DS to leave...

Ronin, missing his US fella...
reese2
Well, we all get grumpy from time to time.. I miss DS!!!! wub.gif wub.gif

Jera
Umm....I hope no one will get mad at me for asking this, but I asked it once before without getting an answer, so I´ll try again here:
Am I one of thes "kids" or "trolls" that you talk about? I won´t get mad if you say yes, I just want to know, so I can change my ways if that would be nessecary.
reese2
No Jera.

There was a time that it was questionable in my book, but you recovered with grace, and since then you have been great.... Don't worry about changing for anyone..

Age is not the determining factor. As was stated, there are multiple things that go into making a 'Troll' a 'Troll'.

Reese

Jera
Thank you Reese2! Thank you very much.
gonzowalker
Uhhh.... I'm not sure what you guys mean by "troll", but I don't think I want to be one. I'm still new to the whole internet thing, so I don't know much. This is one of the first sites I found and is my favorite. I like you all and some of you are super-smart. I haven't seen too many negative posts, and nobody has bashed me...yet.
j6p
Everybody here is tops in my book. I wouldn't want to see anyone leave.
Jera, your sweet. Don't change a bit.thumbsup.gif
Gonzowalker, your no troll. Your aces.
There ya go, my 2 cents for what it's worth.

"Pushed" DS to leave?

This has been very helpful. One thing I want to add : if the discussion is getting heated don't post replies when you read the board take time to think about what you want to say and how to say it....
theSOURCE
Geezzz, how about just growing a thicker skin? tongue.gif Even though this is a very well moderated forum, it's still just that: a message board.

I agree with what some of the others here have said. If you find a post too insulting or distasteful, just report it, or ignore it.

And feed the trolls at your own risk. ph34r.gif

I would just like to say thank-you for this thread. I know that some immature people can be quite obnoxious at times on this forum. This is my first post in a while because I was afraid that I was being viewed as one of them, a 'kid' or 'troll'. So I took a mini vacation from this site, caught up on some homework, and I hope to post here occasionally once again. Peace.
Universal Absurdity
if there were never any negative , how would you know what positive is?

it is in my nature to give contradictions, dont hold me to it
i agree, negativity is bad...im kinda new to the forum , although for a long time i would just read the posts, i havent seen alot of negativity in here but im sure, whatever negative replies there have been could have been avoided with rational argument. and points being made -negative or positive

also i believe negative and positive are in the eye of whoever may be reading it
unless of course if its a straight out attack (which i have not seen)

anyway, im glad to be here and i enjoy reading as many posts as i can
CommanderDeathKill
OK, I'm not trying to sound mean here...........
Once in a while some people post really stupid things. The only way that they are going to know that it is stupid is if someone tells them. Now I'm not saying that you should post something negative whenever you think something is dumd. I'm just saying that sometimes someone need to be ripped a new one. It's not very often but, it happens. So please don't cry too loud if your feelings get hurt. devil.gif
snuffypuffer
Nobody should be afraid to post what they think, and I'm all for acid sarcasm. But personal attacks are uncalled for, I don't feel there's any reason to call anyone names.
Kismit
Yep personal attacks are uncalled for but unfortuanately they happen , generalisations are also unecisary but again they will happen . I must admit it's a hard lesson but if you believe what you are posting is good and honest then post it confidently . If a moderator moderates it then it just wasn't meant to be and move on in life . Remember there are bigger issues .....
