hi,
i have investigated many cases involving poltergeists and the article makes many good points.i have to disagree with one of them though.an"agent"can not cause a poltergeist to appear simply by being in a stressful state of mind.poltergeists search for this type of negativity and zero in on that subject.the entity then uses the agent to do what it wants to. there is also no set length of time for a poltergeist to stay in one location.if the agent stays the way they were when the poltergeist takes over, then this can last for years, but it is very, very rare.this is a great article and thanks for sharing it with us. grin2.gif

Thank you for your reply.... I'm wondering, are all poltergeists always considered as 'negative forces'?

I ask because I've been experiencing some things that would be this type of paranormal activity, but I don't feel any sort of threat by it.

Your thoughts are appreciated.

hi,
yes.the word poltergeist is german and means "noisy spirit".there are many types of entitys, and poltergeists are not the only ones that do this.human spirits normally don't move things, although it is possible.inhuman spirits such as poltergeist and demons are best known for this.since you don't feel any sort of threat by it,it does'nt sound like a poltergeist or inhuman entity.they feed on your fear which makes them stronger.a poltergeist usually does'nt make a gradual entrance.they start out hard and strong.i don't know anything about your situation or why you think this is happening,so it's hard to say.heres a few examples we came across involving poltergeist.we investigated a poltergeist situation a few years ago and all it did was throw a few books off a bookshelf and break one dish in the kitchen.after that it left the house.this was a mild case.about 2 years ago while investigating a case, the male homeowner was picked up and thrown against the wall. this happened twice and after having the house blessed, the entity left.that's a very, very extreme case. i must say that of the hundreds of cases we have investigated over the years, only about 2% had anything to do with poltergeist activity.good luck to you and i hope everything works out ok.thanks

Greywolf's opinions are also colored by the "Survival Assumption", or more plainly, that spirits exist. Some parapsychologists and poltergeist researchers DO NOT share this view, as much as most other people want to BELIEVE this to be the case. Some researchers theorize poltergeist phenomena is ENTIRELY WITHOUT INTENT on the part of some "entity".

The issue is not confined to:

-poltergeists are sometimes spirits but usually RSPK
-poltergeists are sometimes RSPK but usually spirits

there are the alternate and almost equally unpopular views:

-poltergeists are spirits, RSPK doesn't exist
-poltergeists are RSPK, spirits don't exist

I personally don't believe in spirits or demons, so guess which camp I'm in.

If poltergeists are neither human spirits or demons, then what do you believe them to be?

Like Anson_Kail, we have been having a great deal of physical activity in our home for over a year now. Though there is mischief, we feel no malevolence. It can be quite annoying when our belongings are messed with, when we find our things in odd places, like outside on the front walk for instance, or when a bedspread gets flipped over, or things get pushed off shelves, but on the other hand, the entity has seemed to be watching out for us, helping us in ways at times. Even when I am here alone at night, I feel no fear or threat, no sense of evil. (I did once, and only once, see a humanoid, man-sized shape following my dog into the kitchen early one morning. I believe that was the entity showing itself to me.)

I read somewhere that a poltergeist, or poltergeist activity, was caused by the resident teenagers, as the events usually take place in the presence of a pubescent teen.

hi jpatt,
i think the main word here is "believe".you are correct that there are many different theories.everyone kind of chooses which one suits them.it is good to have opposing opinions because if everybody had the same view,it would be dull.thanks.

hi dea,
rspk stands for "recurrent spontaneous psychokinesis",or physical effects that happen repeatedly over a period of time.or as we say around here,it's a poltergeist that hangs around for awhile and constantly bangs or moves stuff.hope that helps.thanks.

Thanks so much for your fun and quick reply.

hi earthchick,
i believe that poltergeist are demonic.i may have worded it wrong before.from your description,it sounds like a playful spirit.one that just wants you to know it's there but means you no harm.it has been said that spirits sometime watch over the people in the home because they know your taking care of what used to belong to them when they were alive.many people "do not"want the spirit removed because its like part of the family!thanks.

so sorry to hear about the elderly gentleman.98 years is a long life.the first hawk you saw could have been the man's wife waiting for him.i do believe the two birds together were their way of saying were together again.can't explain what the sister-in-law saw.i have been told that an animal can sense alot more than we can,and it may be picking up on the man.i will re-read the story again as soon as my boss quits breathing down my neck.he acts like i'm here to work!thanks

I'm thinking that perhaps in seeing what happened with her brother-in-law the little old lady has lost her fear of dying and is now embracing it. If so her time may be coming soon and perhaps spirits are present, waiting for her. It is possible that the message about needing a plumber was passed on to you from one of the spirits, via the old man. The old man may also be hanging around because of his dog.

Keep us in your thoughts and prayers please? My heart is heavy over the loss of my little man. It will be hard if she goes 'home' too.

Of course. I'll be thinking of you both and will remember you in my prayers.
