Hi, I've never posted here or well anywhere like this before but I stumbled onto it and wanted to post my experiences that I have had in my parents house.
Ever since we moved into my house 15 years ago I always had a really weird feeling whenever I was alone in it. I would hear banging noises and footsteps above me in the attic (which my parents dismissed as being the house settling, the heater, squirrels, etc, etc)... whenever I was in the basement I would feel like someone was watching me and I also had strange lights in my bedroom (small faint things I could see near the ceiling or reflections in the mirror) and also some weird purple/orange glows outside the window.
One time, I think I was around 14-15, I went down into the basement (which is half finished into a rec room and a bathroom) and I was alone in the house and I kept feeling these weird breezes near me and then heard this whispering noise in the unfinished part. I thought maybe one of my cats had gotten into something and I went to check, as I walked past the stairs to the basement I saw my two cats standing on the top stairs with their ears back and hissing...i got the strangest feeling I have ever felt in my body and decided that I should just go upstairs...as i walked up the stairs I felt like something was physically pulling on my shirt trying to keep me down in the basement. I ran like hell and locked the door.
I've had that same feeling several other times and bolted up the stairs as well petrified that I was going to feel them again.
It's not necessarily a threatened feeling it's just a nauseating feeling and all the hair on my body stands up.
When ever I go back to visit I still hear some things (but not the extent I used to) and I still am petrified of being alone in the house.
I sleep weird in the house too...I fall asleep instantly and then have nights full of weird dreams. I'm fine when I'm in my own house and have none of these fears.
I'm moving back in with my parents for a year next week and I'm scared to death!! My parents dismissed everything I ever told them so I finally stopped, and to my knwledge no one else has ever noticed anything like this in the house. Maybe I'm just a wimp and overeacting...i can't even watch the mildest horror movie without being scared for weeks!
Anyways...i just wanted to share...and to see what others think of this...

Umm well the sage I suppose i could do...who am i supposed to pray to...i'm an atheist
Like I said it's not that I feel threatened it's just weird and a little scary to always feel like you are being watched and touched!! I'd just like to know if what I've experienced is real or if there is a logical explanation (sorry i'm a scientist...i tend to do everything "logically")

I'm athiest as well. It's not the religion, more as the power behind the words. Any religions word's will do as long as they are positive.

For the last few days, when I'm walking upstairs, I can feel someone watching and following me.
I know the feeling, and I'm not on talking terms with God either.
Can't give you any advises, other then saying that I understand.

Funnily enough...I get the same feeling now and then.
I don't think it's got anything to do with ghosts though...I actually CAN explain it logically *looks at watch* Real quick though, cause it's almost half two in the morning, and I got Uni tommorow...urg...
Anyway, humans are naturally wired (especially males) to dislike having their backs turned to open spaces...it's simply part of natural selection, back when leaving our backs exposed probably left us dead. If you spend a lot of time fumbling about in a room, you'll probably find yourself glancing over your shoulder all the time...especially if you hear a noise (most likely wind, or just a natural creak of the house).
If you don't, then you'll feel extremely uncomfortable...and you'll likely not know why. It's not so surprising that this natural dislike of leaving your back exposed, along with an environment that is, by nature, creepy (basements usually are, because they're not places we spend a great deal of time...the unfamiliar also leads us to be more cautious and suspisious of our surroundings), that you're mind probably exagerates what's going on.
To this day, whenever I'm alone in the house, and have to go upstairs (the foot of the stairs faces the front door, so to go up them I need to expose my back to the outside), I'll be overcome with the feeling that something is behind me, and I'll rush upstairs to my room (trying as hard as I can just to hurry, rather than run like a frightened rabbit, so I don't feel too stupid)...I know there's nothing there, but it's just one of our natural reactions left over to help ensure our survival.

Hmm...Scientist or not there is something there, I understand the scientific method I am by education an anthropologist, however, my experiences have taught me not to ignore what could be, I dont suggest that you go against your beliefs or scientific background, just the opposite, embrace them, Faith in God, Ala, Buddha, Vishnu or science is still faith, it doesnt matter what you believe in just that you believe. I would suggest that you open your mind and experiment with the situation, when you get those strange feelings open yourself to them and ask what ever it is to reveal themselves, Fear is a natural emotional state, Raw and intense but you are an intelligent professional, a scientist, you owe it to yourself to answer this particular mystery, think of it as a thesis study.

wat happens if those 'things' kind of show up and wouldnt leave?? that would end up quite a serious problem.. i will say that it is good to do so, but fear is a sure thing in your mind even though if u try to calm yourself..

Hello Brach-Girl
Let me introduce myself. I am a Medium and Paranormal Researcher.
Sounds like you have a Spirit in your house who is trying to communicate with you. The reason why you are feeling these feelings and seeing things and hearing things is because you are sensitive i.e Clairaudient and sentient. However you are not open enough to communicate back with it.
What I suggest you do is not open at all until you gain some knowledge and understanding of what this is all about. I also suggest that you learn some form of Psychic Protection. A good one is envisaging yourself bathed in bright white light that flows through your body and surrounds you. I would also suggest making sure your third eye chakra is closed, at the moment it sounds to me as if its wide open which increases psychic awareness. In fact make sure all your chakras are closed, to me you sound as I said before very sensitive.
If you start to feel threatened or uneasy with what is around you, say in a very firm voice "Back off and leave ma alone." Do not feel frightened to do this. You have to remember that Spirit is not as strong as we are as it does not have its physical body as we do. For me personally I view Spirit as energy. It can only exist by using energy around and about. Whereas our spirit that is inside us uses energy from our body. Also you have to remember that Spirit was like you and me except now it does not have its body. It is not some frightening thing that you see on films. There are of course many types of entities but to me this sounds like your average Jo.
If you can and your parents allow this...I am not sure on their views from what you have written, I suggest you find a reputable Medium who can go into the home, channel the spirit and clear it, i.e send it on its way. This is a very simple procedure that does not involve pomp and ceremony. I have had to do clearings from time to time myself.
If you need any advice on protection or chakras etc, just pm me or email me, I am happy to advise you.
For now, Lottie

Well I guess if those "things" just kinda showed up and wouldn't leave you'd be in a bit of a pickle huh? I mean for a scientist this is really uncharted waters. As a scientist one is taught, right or wrong, to believe in the method, when something outside of reason occurs a scientists natural reaction is to debunk, rebute or otherwise explain away as an aberation or natural phenom. However, I do agree that opening yourself to whatever the entity is or may be could be a mistake, What I meant by "opening up" was the blinders put into place by the method, science is very methodical, thats why we call it science and not religion(Not intended as ablast by any means) and this methodology is quite useful, however if a scientist opens up themselves to the possibility of something and attempts to explain why it is happening rather than explaining why it isnt, the method takes on a new and more potent role. We were once a very supersticious people, currently the pendulumn has swung to the other side and we hold science as the ultimate authority, what if, and this is a bit of a leap, we took whats best of both and made an attempt at understanding the natural and supernatural and how those forces push and pull on us as a species?

I am a36 year old father of 2. I also have hair raising things happen to me in my basement. When I do the families laundry on the weekend I make sure to use the fewest steps possible to make it to the top and out of what i consider harms way. So don't feel uncomfortable about it you are not alone.

Hello, I can completely relate to your experiences so you're not alone. First of all let's eliminate the words ghost or spirits, because they only spook us out. We'll call them energies, because that's what they are. We are all sent on earth to live this life as a journey, and the good news is that we aren't sent alone, we are sent with 1 or 2 spirit guides or (energy guides) These sirit guieds are somewhat "angels" who are her eto protect us.. They love, care and worry about us like a mother with her child. They are constantly trying to get our attention and let us know that they are here. Unfortunetly twe don't have the ability to see or hear them. Som of us feel them, others don't. BUT all I am trying to say is that, they don't mean any harm, they aren't allowed to harm you, and they "can't" harm you. So don't worry they just want tlo communicate and let you know that they are here for you. BUt if you're not ready to communicate with them simply tell them that you're afraid and they should leave ypou alone, and believe me they will. But remember theye can't read your mind, you have to tell them. JUST REMEMBER: THEY CAN"T HARM YOU IN ANY WAY AND THEY HAVE NO INTENTIONS TO DO SO!

I too have had strange a experience. When my now 13 year old son was 2 1/2, he would state on a regular basis that his Uncle Kenny was sleeping but he was okay...this began on June 21st, a few months later, october 3rd, we were contacted by the police who informed us that my brothers body had been discovered in a well known dumping site. He had been shot in the neck and disposed of, my son told us one last time that Uncle kenny was sleeping but he was okay, after being informed by the officers about what had happened, he never mentioned it again. I believe my brother came to my son so that he could give us the message of his passing, in addition to that, I believe he made sure to tell my son that he was okay in spite crossing over. I know there is more to life than living....this is our adventure...in death is when our real living begins....God speed.

Brach-Girl:
I know exactly how you feel. I have had similar experiences in many of the houses I have lived in. Sometimes they actually do frighten me a bit, its more the fear of the unknown than anything. And I have also had offhand explanations of things like 'it's the wind or the house settling or even a mouse (more frightening to me than a ghost)'
so I know how you feel when its not taken seriously. I guess some of us are more sensitive to such experiences than others. As a child I used to think I was the only one or maybe weird or crazy. But for the most part it actually feels natural (hard to explain that one). When I was six I almost drowned. After the first few seconds of panic I suddenly found myself up and above me (looking down at myself) which was really strange. The weird part was that for a second I did not even RECOGNIZE myself as I have never actually seen myself from the back before. THAT was weird....as was the feeling of just like I was an observer and detached from it all. I had an even weirder experience when I was about two. I was in our bedroom playing. Back in the old country we had no running water or electricity. Just the kerosene lamps. I had a candy in my mouth and suddenly there was a bright flash of light in the corner of the room near the bed. It scared me and I swallowed my candy and was chocking when my grandma came in and hit me on the back to dislodge it. But the flash was weird, like what you would see from a flash of a camera...really sudden and bright. And it wasnt a reflection from outside as it was dark and we had no cars just a cart we used pulled by a horse to take stuff to the market to sell. I have no idea what it was. I tried to explain to grandmother but as usual grownups never listen to kids or take them seriously. That was just one of the many weird things that have happened to me all of my life, so I believe they do happen to others (which makes me feel better ....that at least I'm not the only one or crazy or something) I would really like to actuallly KNOW what and why those things happen. But I guess thats something people have been wondering for thousands of years. I really think that the part of being scared is that because we don't KNOW and that part is what really scares us. Am I making any sense or just rambling ???????
The last time I had one of these weird things happen was three months ago. I woke up in the middle of the night from the sound of glass breaking. I thought something fell in the kitchen but made my husband get up with me to investigate (he is the biggest skeptic and as usuall was not pleased that I woke him for something stupid AGAIN) Well, everyone was asleep, but my oldest daughter woke up to the noise too. We checked everywhere and found broken glass all over the family room floor and a broken candle. So the candle must have fallen with a force to break it in half.
The candle holder (it was a hurricane type with a glass chimney made of brass and heavy) was still on top of the wall unit way in the back behind a huge potted plant. I have no idea how the candle and glass ended up broken on the floor. Nor did the 'wind' or mouse explanation from my husband make any sense. Wind in the family room??? And must have been one strong huge mouse to yank the candle which had partially melted INTO the holder and throw it onto the floor WITH the glass???? Who was he trying to convice??? I still have no explanation for that one. But the second night I was on my computer and my blender in the kitchen turned on. My son thought I was vacumming in the middle of the night from the noise. The third night I was again on the computer when I started to hear music. I followed the sound and found my alarm/calculator was playing on top of the wall unit. I opened it up and it stopped playing the music but the weird part was it had no battery in it. Now someone please explain that one to me. Three days in a row. No one ever died here, this house is fairly new only a few years old and the previous owners were a young family and they never had weird stuff happen to them. So maybe its just me, I don't know...but I do know weird things DO happen. [FONT=Arial][SIZE=1]

I'm more curious than scared of this sort of stuff. It is obvious a great many people all over the world have had similar experiences sometimes in their lives. Im just wondering if we are all a little bit mad....or maybe it is a joke played on humanity by some cosmic trickster or something..
Many scientists and skeptics debunk such stuff. At one time everyone believed the earth was flat.....and just because we can't SEE a neutrino doesn't mean it does not exsist either. I prefer to have an open mind about this sort of stuff....

I have to agree with you completely, we have forgotten that science is a tool, it has given us many wonderful things that simply would not exsist without it, however as with religion, blind unquestioning "faith" leads to conclusions that may be premature or otherwise in error, ladies and gentlemen we have the capability of free thought, never let anyone ridicule you for that freedom and excersize your freedom as often as you can, its what makes us human.

My problem with organized religion is that each one thinks they are correct about everything. I don't know for certain and no one does for that matter whether there is a God as we like to refer to the unknown power over everything. But I do believe there is SOMETHING. Be it God or whatever we call it, he sure is a great mathematician. But
one must realize that simply because we have not actually SEEN what God is does not mean it might not exist either. Same for the unexplained stuff we all experience. It happens to an awful lot of people so there must be SOMETHING causing all those experiences. We just haven't discovered the answer....yet. I myself have never actually SEEN an Xray or soundwawes but have had pictures as a result of both the Xray and the MRI. We only see a small portion of the spectrum, and hear only certain decibels of sound. I have never heard a dog whistle (hmm or for that matter my own dog whistling LOL-a pun there guys) but the dog has. So who knows. Must be something or else we are all going mad...........

Last week my wife had a minor stroke. She was taken to the hospital by ambulance, both she and I thought that was it.She told me while they had her in the hallway waiting for them to take her into the catscan she said she saw her father. She said he was looking down, and smiling at her as if to communicate it wasn't time, and not to worry.
Her family has all these kinds of paranormal sightings, and dreams. Before he died he would always stop by at night, and then stop in and see our daughter before he left tucking her in and all. After he he died she would kick the covers off,and by morning she would be tucked in just like her grandfather had been there. Also there were the nights that there would be a knock at the door in which was his trademark if you will.We would answer the door, and there wouldn't be anyone there. My wife feels the animals we've lost in the past jump up on the bed,and lay down. There is much more...but for later.

Let's see I've had a few of my own.In the late 60's we lived in town in a house built in the 30's or 40's.The attic door was built into the wall, and not in the cieling as they are today. My room of course had the attic door with a sliding deadbolt to keep it locked.Everynight I would make sure the deadbolt was slid into the locked down position, and every morning I would wake up to find the deadbolt slid back and the door opened about 2 inches.
