I'm almost 33 and just had the rest of my top teeth pulled and I'm going to get a denture. The dentist had to give me over a dozen shots, one into the vessel and root of each tooth - I felt every one. I was barely able to eat mashed potatoes tonight.

OMG i alwasy will now..is that really true?? i mean your teeth???
jpatt
May 20 2006, 10:44 PM
Sadly, quite true. And yes, sometimes it takes personal experience for some people, but for others, perhaps a bad example is good enough. I'm waiting about 4 weeks for the stitches to dissolve and the swelling to recede so I can go pay about $500 USD for an upper denture. I posted this on another forum and they all basically said "Meth, obviously, it craters the teeth" - and it does, but I've never done meth - this was all achieved through hard work and years of neglect.

Ouch, my dad lost all his teeth by the age of 29, you know what tho, he NEVER has bad breath! I guess thats one good thing about having dents. My teeth are not in real good shape , Need to get em fixed, but It takes 3 months for me to get scheduled for a darn appointment.. good thing tho, I got awsome dental insurance, with no Max anual and basically covers most procedures at 100% :-) I love working for the govt :-D

On the other hand, don't teach your kid to brush regularly.
It's better for the milk tooth to get rotten and fall easily.
My daughters milk tooth didn't fall, now she had a lot of double teeth
that will cost me around 5 thousand dollars to fix.
Are you gonna brush your teeth kids?
Raptor
May 21 2006, 12:23 PM
^That's not true, if you don't brush your teeth you can get all different types of gum disease. If a tooth doesn't come out when it should do you should just get it pulled, don't let them go rotten.

Where on earth did you get that information?
"The daily reality for children with untreated oral disease is often persistent pain, inability to eat comfortably or chew well, embarrassment at discolored and damaged teeth, and distraction from play and learning."

Yowch! I got four teeth pulled once and the swelling was unbearable. I can't even imagine how much swelling you've gone through.

I've usually brush my teeth at least six times a day. (I have braces, so I kind of have to.) But I rarely floss. After seeing that picture, I've decided to do it daily.

Not a whole lot of pain today but yes, a lot of swelling. Basically my gums are now taking the place of where my teeth were - thats a LOT of swelling. And as for the poster who "knew you were going to say that" just remember, being psychic doesn't keep away gingivitis and the germs that cause plaq. =)

I saw a girl with all teeth rotten then the next year she got a wonderful set of new teeth.
We took good care of my daughter's teeth, because it was well taken care of, it didn't fall.
Now the new ones grows along with the old one.

When I first registered with my dentist after moving to this bit o' London UK, he was asking my medical history and writing the answers down. When he asked about any allergies, I jokingly said "Yes, I'm allergic to pain, it makes me violent".
The dentist wrote it down on my medical records and now, any time I need to be injected for anything, they spray the area with anaesthetic first before the needle goes in

...
I hate hypodermics anyway (I almost told the dentist hypodermic needles make me feel faint), but it paid off regardless
