Oh by the way this a rock contest...no rock n roll bands or stuff like that!!!
What by all means do you really mean by that??? They don't become rock bands so they can go all out and say "this is a contest!, were going to win". Dude it's music.

I like them all seriously!!! They all are great in certain ways.
But I chose others cuz its probably one of the most underrated band ever. Which is X Japan.
I love all bands equally. Same with other genres

Wow, no one likes Jimi Hendrix, Canned Heat, Steppen Wolf, Robben Ford, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Iron Butterfly, Neil Young, Deep Purple, Frank Zappa, Creedence ClearWater Revival (Revisited), Warren Zevon, George Thorogood, Jethro Tull, The Kinks, Black Sabbath, or Ten Years After. Of course "rock" originated in the 30's with Robert Johnson, I won't get into all of that.
I myself like
The Doors
Hendrix
Skynyrd
Canned Heat (dont forget to boogie!)
Howlin' Wolf
My Own
*Ultimate Rock Bands*
Cannibal Corpse
My Own
Dying Fetus
Gorerotted (their older material)

Nirvana was grunge.
Ramones, punk.
Those genres are subcategories, their still composed within the Rock genre.

It's a nice song, but not rock in any way.

This is a tough one!
I can't choose between White Zombie, Bowie (solo artist, I know but he's good!), Blondie, Chilli Peppers, Alice Cooper (solo, not the band) MCR, Nirvana and U2.
If I had to choose one, it has to be Nirvana

But the beatles have to be the most overrated band EVER!!! I am soooo sick of people saying that their songs were genius... the problem is that most of them were love songs... And you can only write so many love songs without me wanting to kill myself... BE ORIGINAL!!!
As for Nirvana... I really don't see the hype. Is it cuz Kobain killed himself? Everyone seems to remember Kobain, but not Grolsch(did i spell it right?) or Krist Novolestic... which annoys me!
Jimi Hendrix is kewl tho... i admit...
Guns 'n' Roses are OK, but Axl Rose really needs to cut down on the cigs
Cooper's a little old fashioned, but still a good laugh
My Favs:

2.MuDvAyNe
3.Primus

What you have to remember is that for the time the band was the original. For instance if you've ever listened to the Beatles'
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band there is very original and influential stuff on there. It's not just about "I Wanna Hold Your Hand". I do think John Lennon is a bit overrated though because he was killed. George Harrison was way better in my opinion.
As for Nirvana I don't personally care for them all that much but again for their time they were very influential and they may not have started 'grunge' but they were it's catalyst.
Guns N Roses mixed heavy metal and glam brining two genres together successfully. Again, not the first but the catalyst.
Jimi Hendrix is a guitar god and a legend and he did more for music than I can express in words.
Alice Cooper is my personal hero and favorite rock villain. He was a first and a catalyst. He's still making music and touring and he's been around forever and I hope he'll be around forever. He is super-intelligent and a very underrated writer. I love him to death.
Sorry, I went on a babble there....

Can't believe that Nirvana and the Doors are on that poll. Both of them groups would have vanished into oblivion if their minor talented singers did not die. Nirvana were only famous because Geffen records pulled out their whole hype and marketing machine to make them big. They were the grunge New Kids on the Block. It was all marketing and promotion and the music was dreadful bad garage mental.
The poll is a strange selection really. Like a bad Middle-American FM rock station playlist and no bearing on most of the great music made over the years. Just what some middle age DJ assumes is great "mannnnnnnnnnnnnnn".
What about U2, the Smiths, Stone Roses, Fun Lovin Criminals, The Jam, The Cure, Oasis and about million other bands who show up crap like Nirvana and The Doors for the mediocre tripe they are.
Kurt Cobain was no loss really. His daughter must be near the age now were she'll have her first album and it'll be called "Daddy's Girl" or something MTV COOL like that and the global record industry will try to make out it's all somehow profound, alternative, angst-ridden and it'll just Brittnay Spears with a bit of badly applied make-up and a scowl on her face. As for the Doors, a cheesey lounge bar act.
