Without mentioning names of bands - The Pussycat Dolls etc. why have music videos slowly become excuses for porn?
Dont get me wrong I am a red blooded male but there is a difference in what is shown and what should be shown. Without playing the snob card aswell it seems to be along the R&B and rap lines. I dont recall Neil Diamond stripping off.
Im not being a bore like I said before but with the likes of Snoop Dogg or whatever the idiot calls himself why not just make a porn video and a soundtrack to go with it?
anyone agree?

I do. Not that that'll help you much, but I do agree.

I agree. I think things are sexier, scarier, etc. when they are suggested or hinted at rather than just thrown in your face.

YUP! nice thread.
I'd much rather just listen to my own music, and press mute on the TV screen. Just sit and watch pussy cat dolls dance around. Cuz the music LACKS!

i also don't understand why they get half naked chicks to dance around and shake their ass and jiggle their boobs,it has nothing to do with the video, nothing to do with anything, just some jackass was like hey,why don't we get some half naked chicks in that video, just like in al the other videos like it. its done way to much, and now it just keeps getting dirtier and dirtier, and it gets more annoying.I am full blooded male,i like girls,i have a gf,but there is a certain limit as to how much i'll allow myself to see before it gets annoying.Me personally,i'm into the rock videos and stuff, none of that rap stuff
EDIT:Named a band

Sex sells. It's just another nail in the coffin of rationality and human interaction. Objectifying the female body til it is nothing more than an object of desire with no personal feelings. No wonder the world is getting worse all the time.

it pisses me off how they do that to the female body,i mean, yeah its beutiful compared to the male body,by far,but they don't need to turn the female body into an object

Sex sells yeah but it doesnt apply to music videos because not enough people buy a single etc. just to get the video more people buy a sinlge for the song and get the video as a by product. It doesnt make business sense to me just to say sex sells full stop.

It's marketing, martypalin. Attaching an image to a product associates that image with the purchase of that product. It's very under-the-radar marketing, but it exists. Take a marketing course (or even a basic-level English subject) and you'll see what I mean. Attaching the sexual imagery to a song also attaches the conventional notions of sexual imagery to that product, thus making it more attractive when people go to buy a cd.

You're joking of course? I'm hardly likely to enroll onto an academic course just so 6 months down the line I can say yes or no to this forum post am I?
Did you take common sense 101?
Either way I dont agree would associating half nude girls with chess tournaments or 'One man and his dog' alter the sales? Not by much if any, therefore it cant be the contributing factor

It was rhetorical dude. You don't need to take any course. What I'm saying is accurate though. I'm not saying that half-nude girls will blind people to an obviously bad product (though sometimes I do wonder). But it certainly does help.

See, this is just beyond crazy. Let's look at the Pussycat Dolls music video "Buttons". Yes, it's hot and then some. But really, is it that bad to show off their bodies because you disagree with it? Females show some skin and people go nuts, but males have been doing it for centuries though politics, sports, war and games. No big surprise there. But god forbid a lady shows her belly button on tv, when the next commercial is an almost nude guy in the shower for a old spice commercial. Since times change more people just go to music vidoes, I mean hell, how many guys in music videos don't have shirts? Just wearing some speedo or shorts walking around singing or in the background. I mean, seriously, nobody is forcing you to watch the Pussycat Dolls dance and sing, so instead of forcing yourself though to watch it just so you can complain, pick up the remote and flip the channel. Nothing wrong with expressing yourself.

Okay fine the Pussycat Dolls fine but what about Rhainna and Jojo? 16 & 14 repsctively? Its a bloody pedophiles dream because dont tell me music producers wont try and exploit younger audiences and performers. Its all about the money, draw the line

For the record, KRatos, I totally disagreed with that kind of thing as well. There was a Lynx Snakepeel ad showing a naked guy except for a bit of soap covering his manhood. I was disgusted with that also.
But as I said, sex sells. Music videos aren't the only culprits here.

My 14 year old cousin likes 14 year old girls... Should that market be cut off because some sicko can't control his sick urges?
I heard the other day they caught a pedophile with the "Bratz" dolls collection as one of his joys in life. Does that mean we should just ban Bratz now?

that has nothing to do with it if some guy gets his jolly's from Bratz dolls, you still haven't given a good reason for why music videos cant just be footage -live for example, of the song? Why turn it into an amateur video?
I think you're outnumbered here mate

Well, you disagree with the use of young girls using their bodies and voices to lure in people as you say even pedophiles. So does that make it wrong then? Just as Bratz can attract pedophiles is the connection.

People are feeling more and more free to express themselves in society, nothing wrong with that. Everybody wasn't cut from the same cookie cutter.
I don't see any reason why music videos why they should cut back. People are free to express themselves as they feel fit.
My Amish comment was directed at more so accepting the music videos or ignoring them.

Yes Snoop Dog has produced a porn video with hustler its called Snoop Dogg's Doggystyle he has a bunch of adult actors doing there thing and you can see him drinking, smoking and rapping while they are doing it.
And America is obsessed with sex a 10 billion dollar porn industry would point to that (its probably more now this figure is four years old). If it were the case that America did not like women dancing around half naked then we would not be seeing them, and besides its up to the director and the artist if they want that stuff.
